Issued by the

GRAND LADY OF HANSETI-RUSKA

c. 13th OF MSITZA AND DARGUND, 571 E.S.

THE COURT OF QUEEN NADYA OF NOVKURSAIN.

AD_4nXd0eT7jtwrxzOrjEYQFj1WIdl91_F5dhSAvOUTeabX9VlalqFQY7hHPydntIzNkAigJvaa052B9yaQ_1JkrBHN2zkXswZi5NjU0MTwllZbYp5F8ToFA1IUHqFCqoICDunLVlL--?key=F-hL1LnGBTBzecDqysOEA9Kf

VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG ELDERVIK,

Though Queen Nadya of Novkursain never sought a crown, duty bound her to the throne as consort upon her husband’s ascension. A warrior by nature, she brings to court the same discipline and honor she wields upon the battlefield. It shall be no idle hall of whispers and indulgence–it ought to be one of purpose, strength, and undeniable transparency.

At the heart of Her Majesty’s vision lies an undeniable commitment to militarism, holy faith, and the warrior’s code, wherein discipline, skill, and duty define one’s place in the kingdom. To serve the realm is the highest honor, and all who enter her court must understand their role in defending Haense–whether through the sword, strategy, or service.

Dubbed ve Asserala Kort in New Marian, its name draws inspiration from the Queen’s favored season of the year and the warmth of  King Georg “the Summer King,” a reflection of his belief in unity and brighter days ahead. This court will cultivate warriors of the mind and empower Haeseni citizens–noble and common alike–to defend their homeland and heritage by instilling in them the virtues of strength, faith, and resilience, for Haense’s might lies not in its walls, but in its people.

The Asseralan Code of Conduct comprises the core values of Queen Nadya’s royal court, shaping it into a bastion of honor, discipline, and purpose. Named for the values of old–strength in unity, duty to the realm, and faith in justice–this code defines the expectations of all who serve within the Asserala Court.

❖ㅤPUTTING HONOR FOREMOST.

Honor reigns supreme in the Asserala Court, woven into its very foundation like the old Northern codes of yore. Here, a man’s word is his bond. Oaths are not lightly sworn nor easily broken. The court expects swift and direct settlement of disputes, preventing them from festering into treachery. Idle gossip and deception have no place within these halls–if one cannot back their words with steel, they are not worth heeding. Bluntness and truth are the pillars of Northern virtue, valued over the pleasantries of southern courts. The reigns of yore have shown the dangers of secrecy and deceit. Those who would scheme in shadows will find no place here, for honor is strength, truth is law, and hope is forged in steel.

❖ㅤGUARDING HAESENI HERITAGE.

Defense of the realm is not solely a matter of sword and shield. If one would not defend their homeland with a sword, they ought to with a quill. In the Asserala Court, the cultural arts shall hold a special place in defense of the realm’s culture, preserving the spirit of the people as fiercely as any blade. Poets, historians, and craftsmen shall find refuge and purpose within these halls, for they too are warriors in their own right–guardians of Haeseni heritage. The songs of the North, the tales of old, and the wisdom of scribes ensure Haense remains not only strong in arms but in identity. A sword may defend a city, but it is the quill that defends its soul.

❖ㅤFOSTERING FAITH AND PIETY.

No kingdom can stand strong without faith, and no Haenseman can march without conviction. Piety shall not merely serve as an ornament of rulership, but a pillar of governance in equal measure. Faith in GODANI guides the actions of the realm, shaping its laws, its justice, and its people’s way of life. The Asserala Court upholds a vision wherein faith is not passive reverence but active devotion – expressed through duty, discipline, and righteous action. The virtues of GODANI reflect in the lives of the people, and all are expected to honor their oaths, uphold truth, and serve with integrity. Just as the sword defends the body and the quill defends the spirit, faith defends the soul. Both prayer and tradition will be in the court as a source of guidance, unity, and fortitude, for without faith, there is no justice; without justice, there is no honor; and without honor, there is no kingdom.

The Asserala Court is not without precedent, drawing inspiration from the courts of great Haeseni queens before it – Emma of Jerovitz, Amadea of Susa, Sofiya of Hyspia, Blessed Amaya of Venzia, Queen Nataliya I, and Juliya of Reinmar. Each of these queens shaped the realm in their own way, and from their legacies, the reformed royal court finds its foundation. Yet, where past courts emphasized diplomacy and refinement, the Asseralan Code molds this court into one of strength, purpose, and service to Haense.

The structure of the Asserala Court maintains established offices, but with flexibility to specialize and adapt as the needs of the realm dictate. Positions are not merely ceremonial, but exist to serve a function within the kingdom. At the monarchs’ discretion, specializations may be granted to individuals who excel in their craft. For instance, a seamstress might rise to the title of Keeper of the Wardrobe within the Office of the Arts.

This court is ever-evolving, shaped by necessity rather than tradition alone. New roles may be added, others removed, ensuring that every member of court earns their place and contributes meaningfully to the kingdom. In this way, the Asserala Court  remains both grounded in Haeseni legacy and adaptable to the needs of the present age.

❖ㅤTHE KING AND QUEEN.ㅤ〣ㅤVE KOENG AG KOENAS.

As the Crown, the reigning King and Queen-consort both hold the foremost authority and direction over the Royal Court. However, the responsibility lies the most with the Queen-consort. She has the oversight and power to amend the Royal Court’s purpose and structure, along with dictating the employment of Haeseni within the structure. The reigning Queen-consort oversees the internal aspects of Haense and their development through the Royal Court.

❖ㅤTHE GRAND LADY OR LORD.ㅤ〣ㅤVE HAUCHHERZENAS LUDR VE HAUCHHERZEN.

The Grand Lady, or Lord, is the second highest position within the Royal Court, wielding the Rose Bulava and a seat on the Aulic Council.[1] They are the spearhead of the Royal Court and its councils on the behalf of the Crown. The Grand Lady, or Lord, is not only an embodiment of courtly ideals, but acts as their enforcer. This responsibility exists in tandem with the law, in which the Grand Lady, or Lord, holds oversight on the social, cultural, marital, and educational aspects of the Kingdom of Haense.[1]

❖ㅤTHE OFFICE OF THE ABSTRACT AND ITS SCHOLARS.ㅤ〣ㅤVE ZALDIRK I VE ASTRAKNY AG INVAUSEO.

The Office of the Abstract is the more educational sect of the Royal Court, with its courtiers referred to as Scholars. The scholars of the office focus on the dissection and reflection of abstract concepts and matters without a pre-existing explanation. From the stars above the kingdom, to the magicks of far-flung realms, or uncovering the manners of faith and its followers, the Office of the Abstract must learn of these things and enlighten others. It is especially the responsibility of the office and its wards to ensure the Haeseni people are aware of all comings, whether they are a threat or innocuous.

❖ㅤTHE OFFICE OF THE ARMS AND ITS AUXILIARY.ㅤ〣ㅤVE ZALDIRK I VE AUSKURVSKO.

The Office of the Arms is the more martial sect of the Royal Court, with its courtiers referred to as the Auxiliary. These individuals are vital for their prowess or knowledge in multiple fields that reflect the militaristic nature of the Kingdom of Haense as a whole and the ideals of the reigning Queen-consort. From blacksmithing, to teaching the coat of arms and creating new ones, to fostering honor and chivalry within their fellow courtiers and Haeseni citizens. Similar to the master or mistress of the office, the auxiliary forces of the Office of the Arms could collaborate with the Brotherhood of Saint Karl over matters of self-defense training, tourney events, and so on if given permission by respective councilors it would affect.

❖ㅤTHE OFFICE OF THE ARTS AND ITS ASPIRANTS.ㅤ〣ㅤVE ZALDIRK I VE AETIRKANO.

The Office of the Arts is the more cultural sect of the Royal Court, with its courtiers referred to as Aspirants, for many ambitious artists could find patronage within the court structure. These aspiring Haeseni can take the form of bards, painters, poets, tailors, but are not exclusive to such endeavors either. At their core, these courtiers must contend with the revelry of the kingdom and the preservation of Haeseni culture. Through dances, stage plays, games, stories, fashion, and more, the Office of the Arts should breathe life into the slumbering concepts of older Haeseni, while carving out fresh paths and contributions of their own.

❖ㅤTHE OFFICE OF THE HUNT AND ITS WARDENS.ㅤ〣ㅤVE ZALDIRK I VE ODNIKZENO.

The Office of the Hunt is a more versatile sect of the Royal Court, concerning education, culture, and martial aspects of the kingdom’s landscape. Because they oversee the realm’s very nature, the office’s courtiers are the Wardens. All within the office ensure the conservation of Haense’s flora and fauna from poachers, blight or other maladies as game wardens. Simultaneously, the wardens can create measures for healthy and intriguing hunts for the Haeseni people, especially the Crown and their respective hunting retinue.

If the Office of the Hunt isn’t beyond the court’s walls to uphold their duties, they can alternatively tend to the animals within the Royal Court’s care, mostly found within the observatory.

❖ㅤTHE WARDS.ㅤ〣ㅤVE ODNIKAE.

The Royal Court holds a great interest in educating the youth of Haense, and wardship is the most direct method. Wards are primarily beneath the advisory positions within the Royal Court, including the Queen-consort and Grand Lady or Lord, as it gives the youth the opportunity to understand the inner workings of the court and provide some of the best role models available. Wards themselves must meet specific criteria to be taken in, with those details determined by the Queen-consort and Grand Lady or Lord. The Royal Court will not recognize a wardship between a young citizen and any courtiers if the legal guardians of said citizen do not provide their written consent for the arrangements.

❖ㅤTHE ROYAL CUSTODIAN.ㅤ〣ㅤVE HAUCHKUSTOSZ.

The Royal Custodian is the supervisor of the most internal affairs; the royal grounds. This specializes in the maintenance and routines of the royal grounds, such as Castle Lesanov. Alongside this, the Royal Custodian must ensure the health of those living on said grounds, from the servantry, to the wards, to the royal family themselves. To uphold the best interests of the royal grounds, the Royal Custodian is another authority of etiquette, so the ideals of the Queen-consort and Haense persist even in the most public and private of spaces. Because of the intensity of this role, the Royal Custodian works closely with the Grand Lady or Lord of the Royal Court too.

❖ㅤTHE ROYAL CHAPLAIN.ㅤ〣ㅤVE HAUCHLENDIZEN.

The Royal Chaplain is another unique role within the Royal Court, acting at the discretion of the Royal Custodian. Their purpose within the court is to provide religious rites for residents and visitors of the royal grounds, along with the upkeep of private shrines and the chapel within Castle Lesanov. The role is only for members of the clergy who seek to nurture the spiritual wellbeing of those in the Royal Court and Castle Lesanov.

❖ㅤTHE LADIES-IN-WAITING.ㅤ〣ㅤVE LEDIS-IV-NOVDAE.

The ladies-in-waiting are vital to the more private affairs of the royal family. While they refer to the Royal Custodian for the internal nature of the royal grounds, the direction or duties of a lady-in-waiting depend on the royal woman they are bound to. Ladies-in-waiting are women of Haense with similar statuses to the royals they serve; being nobility, and their arrangements accommodate the established dynamic between the royal and the lady-in-waiting. A lady-in-waiting could be a confidant, educator, and more.

❖ㅤTHE SERVANTRY; THE BUTLERS AND HANDMAIDENS.ㅤ〣ㅤVE KUKHNYA; VE PONTERS AG ANZLEDIS.

The servantry provides the day-to-day routines and maintenance of the royal grounds. Butlers and handmaidens especially fulfill more domestic tasks delegated by the Royal Custodian or members of the royal household. They are a versatile aspect of the Royal Court, with servantry able to prepare meals, ready horses for travel, and even run errands at the behest of higher figures in Castle Lesanov, among other possibilities.

❖ㅤTHE ROYAL SECRETARY.ㅤ〣ㅤVE HAUCHSEKRATORZ.

The Royal Secretary is not only the Queen’s most personal scribe, but the authority of the Royal Scribes within the court. The position holder must maintain a literate standard of writing for themselves and additional scribes in the Royal Court’s employ. Potential writing standards of the Royal Secretary may also extend to the general court attendants, should the Secretary impose such or offer to educate others. They also must upkeep the records of the Royal Court, from its compendium, to binding agreements, to manuscripts and so on.

❖ㅤTHE ROYAL HERALD.ㅤ〣ㅤVE HAUCHJEAZIKNA.

The Royal Herald acts beneath the Royal Secretary with a select amount of duties. The herald can introduce petitioners at a session of the Royal Court and announce news of the royal household or other important information of the Royal Court as they see fit, especially in the capital.

❖ㅤTHE COURT HISTORIAN.ㅤ〣ㅤVE KORT ELDONAHAURAN.

The Court Historian acts at the behest of the Royal Secretary, specifically for the royal household and castle’s personal archives. They not only maintain the historical records of these groups, but bolster them through careful curation and personal research. They are not bound to only handle written works as their curation could entail paintings, wardrobe, and other items of historical value to the royals and court itself. The nature of this role allows the Court Historian to work with the capital’s museums and libraries should permission exist.

❖ㅤTHE ROYAL SCRIBES.ㅤ〣ㅤVE HAUCHLEKONSKANS.

The Royal Scribes exist primarily within the Royal Court as aid to the courtiers within the offices and the advisors of the court. Some instances include creating copies of court missives or treatises to bolster the archives, along with updating the royal compendium actively so all written, cultural pieces are easier to reference. These scribes can also focus on facilitating literacy through teachings and other methods.

The modest and humble Barbara Heidyr goes off in search of a desk drawer to pilfer, in search of parchment and ink. Though she was barely literate, she wished to apply for a place among the servantry. An excuse to be nearer to the one she admired most.

Mahaut looked over the reform with a weary but satisfied grin. After enough spilled ink, tea, and waking hours put to writing instead of sleeping, it was complete. In an equally weary glance, though, the Grand Lady’s eyes set upon the Rose Bulava, knowing its weight was harder to handle once more.

“Do vy know what my name means, Lord Amador?”

                                                                                  “.. Ea do not.”

“…It means hope. My name means hope."

“Then vy would do best to live by it.”

Within a chair he's labored in, across from one he'd soon assume, Anaksandr's knuckles twitched. They had long set into the ache. But this— this was a labor of loveRest was a thing to now mourn. For the foreseeable future, a new era would persist, one where Nadya's vision would come to fruition.

Gretel Gordana Gavrilevna Godunov squinted at the missive, her lips contorting into a faint grimace as she skimmed through the words. "A court?" she muttered, rolling the parchment between her fingers. For a moment, she thought of noble assemblies; halls where power shifted with every spoken word. But as her eyes traced further down, her brow furrowed in mild disbelief.
A sharp scoff left her lips. "Tch. Some grand court this is. What’s next, knighting jesters?"

She leaned back in her chair, drumming her fingers against the wood in deep thought. The Godunovs had once held titles, once stood among the nobility—but silence had settled over their house, and with that silence, they had surrendered what was theirs. It gnawed at her, that quiet. Torturous, draining quiet. This wasn’t the path she’d imagined to make a name for herself, but influence came in many forms. She sought retribution; she did not believe herself to be the woman who could restore Godunov to its former glory, but by GODANI would she ensure her name was etched in Haeseni history regardless. "Though ea suppose a militant aspect isn't so...  horrific."

With a low grumble, she pulled a fresh parchment toward her and dipped her quill into ink. The sharp scratch of her pen filled the room as she began to write; to the Queen-Consort, no less. Whatever this court truly was, she’d see it for herself, and make of it what she would.

"Oh how I look forward to more helpers scuttling around in this palace. Perhaps even some more lifelong friends. We shall become very busy indeed" the elderly servant mused.
