A PETITION TO THE CROWN

OF BURGUNDY

Issued on the third of Snow’s Maiden, 

in the year of our Lord, 2024

YOUR MAJESTY,

 

I pen this missive to you as a humble servant and leal vassal of the Crown of Burgundy & Principate of Ivoria. The ascension of the new Burgundine realm has brought many noble families to our burgeoning realm, with many fleeing the devastating War of Crown and Crozier which has destroyed or subjugated many a nation which once stood against us.

 

Our Kingdom bears no shortage of lands, many of whom have been untouched or undeveloped for decades or simply ever. One such region is the lands once held by the heathen Trade-State of Vortice which was soundly defeated in the Robertine Crusade. However, since the victory of the faithful over these heathen-states, these lands have largely been left untouched and unsettled.

 

Yet now I, as I am sure many others do, see the potential in this land. Noble houses flock to the banners of Burgundy, seeking new lands and titles with which to call their own. While there is of course a benefit in remaining close to the crownlands, it would be worthwhile to invest in settling a handful of these noble houses into the far eastern border of our Kingdom so it may be developed and secured.

 

Therefore, I petition and propose the creation of the Province of Vortice, a land which would encompass most of the extreme hills and karsts regions which lay unsettled by noble houses. This Province would, in theory, be led by a Governor to be selected by His Majesty’s council to effectively govern, develop, and pacify the region. It would act much the same as a crown vassal such as the Duchy of Alba, with the nobles who settle in the region paying tax to the Governor, who then pays to the Crown itself. I feel that such a proposal and the creation of this internal polity would bring much needed revenue to the Crown, whilst putting less strain upon the Crownlands to house the nobles in need of land.

 

I eagerly await you and your council’s response.

Estevot read this and grew furious. Years after they destroyed his home, and now they FINALLY try to use it, only to give it to some Ivorian bigot?! No. They would not exploit the land that was once his home, his sanctuary. By the will of GOD, these tyrants and bigots will not defile any more land. He made plans to visit. To make sure he could do what he knew he had to do.

To whom it may concern,
  I hope this letter finds you in good health. I, Lenora Jusmia, don't agree to you using the name of my landless nation for your Trade-State. I am honored that you wish to use our name, however, you hold no rights to it, and I urge you to find your own identy instead of piggy-backing off ours. While the eastern coast was so rudely taken from us by the Church and the Uruk-kind, you won't ever hold our culture, our history, or the people that made Vortice what it was that stood for just over two hunderade years. The Vortician spirit is with those that had homes within our Sovereignty that your people sought to end.

  Vortice had been my home since I was a little girl at the age of 11, you lost the right to call yourself by our name in 206 S.A. when the land was taken and we left our Karsts in order to not be subjugated by the Church. I lived within the wildland karsts of Atlas, the swamps of Almaris, and the karsts of Aevos. This was a loss that I wish upon none.. and for those that are reading this who just had your homes taken by the Church and the Uruk-kind. I wish you well, may you find places willing to take you in as we have found.

OOCly: I know rp is rp, however, I'm rather uncomfotable with you/your group trying to use the name/recognition of something that myself and others put so much time, effort, and love into. We also haven't and didn't disband, we have just gone underground for a time as we were an at max 14 person pvp rally against an at max 50 player pvp rally. Our comunity is a lot smaller now though we are still around and surpisingly growing again despite this. Please keep to rp knowledge and have a pleasent day.
