I just realized it's been far too long since I joined this server (feb 2019, wtf it's 2025 now, how did that happen???) and I've never done an AMA before! Throughout my time on LOTC I've experienced several maps and I've been in a couple of different communities. I'm a serial hiatus-er, always telling myself I'll quit and then somehow ending right back here after a while, so most of you won't know me. To be honest, even during active periods I was never a well-known player, so this might not be the coolest AMA ever. Still, I'd love to answer some questions!

pls i'm hoping for at least 1 or i'm gonna be really embarrassed

What is the favorit event/happening/roleplay encounter that you have experienced on the server which keeps dragging you back? :)

Have you ever considered making an orc and if not, why?

I think my very favourite event was Parion's Athera event with the high elves. Or maybe Crow's eventline in Haelunor with the lodestones. There was also an eventline with the NGS that I really enjoyed. Generally, I think non-crp focused ST events with small groups scratch a very specific itch for me and I have been chasing that high ever since! I've only gotten to experience them a couple of times, which I suppose makes them extra special to me.

In terms of my overall favourite time periods during my time on LOTC, there have been 2 notable periods that I still sometimes miss. The first is back when Lei was young and Haelunor was such a tight-knit, active community that I really felt like I was a part of. There were a few weeks were so much was happening and it was awesome. To this day, Lei remains my most dear and well-developed character.
The second is back when I was active with the halflings at some point. The RP was just really wholesome and the people were so chill OOCly. A very specific instance I still remember and think back to is back when @salamanderfantasyand I took our halfling kid characters to Haense to be menaces in the most subtle innocent way. I think they used to leave fingerprints on paintings or stuff like that. It was just such cute and light-hearted fun.

LOTC at its best is just so good. It boosts my creativity in the best way and the community feeling is lovely. The endless possibilities feel addictive. It's not always that good, though, so I keep leaving, but I think the potential of what it could be is what keeps bringing me back.

Strangely, I don't think I ever have! I think maybe back when I joined the orcs had a bit of a reputation OOCly, so I might've just been too intimidated to ever consider it. These days, I just don't have the time to make a new character. Maybe if Sorvians are ever shelved I might consider it. Or if another pandemic hits, leaving me with too much time on my hands. I know very little about orcs, but I've always found the culture to be interesting, so who knows!

What communities were you a part of? And of each, what was the roleplay you enjoyed the most?

When will your next crime spree commence

I play the least crime-y character possible now </3 Though I have considered getting into reverse-crimeing. Breaking into people's houses to give them gifts (and leaving apology notes for breaking the door). 'Banditing' people but giving them mina and compliments instead (didn't the halflings do a thing like that?). Things like that. Plans are being made...

Way back when I started I mostly played characters that tended to stick to interacting with a couple of specific people or that stayed in different places. The first time I really felt like I was an actual part of a community was when I joined Haelun'or. I really enjoyed the cultural aspect there. Lots of lessons, debates, etc. The whole purity thing was very interesting, and (sorry haelunorians) the thing I enjoyed most was playing a character who kept pushing the limits of what she could get away with, LOL. She was the least high elven high elf and in hindsight I get how that can be frustrating for the community (again, sorry!) but I had a blast with her.

I've also played a druid, and there was a time where I was more active in that community (specifically mother grove). I always liked druid RP, but timezones were a bitch and the whole process took so long. Lovely community oocly though. And the dedicancy tasks were fun! I always wished I could have integrated more into this community but I think timezones (and back in the day, shyness) really limited that.

The halflings were another one of my main communities. There was so much funny and wholesome slice of life RP. I loved the character I played, a grumpy little hoarder halfling child named Bear. I think she got adopted and re-adopted several times which was pretty fun. Again, lovely people.

My current character is most closely affiliated with Nevaehlen. Unfortunately timezones get in the way (can you tell this is a recurring problem?) so I don't always get to RP there all that often. My Nev character is a Sorvian, and I'd argue that it's probably the most fun character I've ever played. The way they're written allows me to interact with lots of different people which is something I struggled with back in the day, so that's been great! I hope all the other Alusa Sorvians make a return, too, some day, because I loved being part of an active family in the vale. Sorvians are great in general, and I got lucky with my character's creator because they're fantastic.

Do you think Lamine Yamal deserves the ballon d'or this season?
If not who should get it? Salah? Raphinha?
