ASCENSION TO FLAMEBEARER

Mimesis yr Vjardengrad,

It is with great satisfaction that I write this evening the conclusion of your duties as Hearth Brother. In this time of the fairer part of a decade, you have tutored much under the attentions of both Lord Purifier Ægir & myself, the High Keeper. Your dedication & service, including spending many of your days educating the masses upon the word of the Red Scroll & the Tenets of our Allfather, have not gone unnoticed. Your trialing as a Hearth Brother concludes what has been nearly a century of stagnation. Long has it been since one was worthy - worthy enough that I am compelled now to raise your station within the High Hearth.

It is with this promotion of duties that I also include herein a suggestion. You are a Sorvian, one of the few men-of-the-clay who now walk the world once more. Your kind has an intrinsic desire to not only find purpose & meaning, but also to submerge oneself in the culture & ways of those with whom your time is spent. With this adherence to the customs & religious rites of the Kingdom of Norland, it would be more fitting for you to take up a new name, Narvaukiaan in ancestry.

I will pen here a list of suggestions: Mim, Mimir, Modi, Meili, Mikkel, Manning, Mundi.

AND SO IT SHALL BE, BY THE WILL OF OUR ALLFATHER,

as Master of the Order of the First Flame, High Keeper of the Red Faith & the Flame Imperishable, I,

Ellenore Eiriksdóttir,

henceforth raise Mimesis yr Vjardengrad to the status of Keeper of the Flame. It is to be expected of him to attend the First Flame of his Flamebrand with all reverence & capability he has, & to ensure its light never fades, so long as his own endures.

Yet with such exaltation comes duty - & thus do I charge you with further office

CLERICAL APPOINTMENTS

Mimesis yr Vjardengrad,

It is with your promotion within the High Hearth as a Keeper of the Flame that I am also charging you with the unique rank & title of Luminary - a title that hasn’t been used in nearly two centuries. I believe you are most fit amongst your peers for this duty, seeing that you hold a sword whose edge’s of tolerance & intolerance are both keenly sharpened. I hope you find the Temple of the Divine Manifestation, & perhaps the next Hearth Temple of our future capital, fitting dwellings for the Hearthsfire.

AND SO IT SHALL BE, BY THE WILL OF OUR ALLFATHER,

as Master of the Order of the First Flame, High Keeper of the Red Faith & the Flame Imperishable, I,

Ellenore Eiriksdóttir,

henceforth appoint Mimesis yr Vjardengrad as the Luminary of the Temple of the Divine Manifestation. It is to be expected of him to attend the Hearthsfire within with all reverence & capability he has, & to ensure its light never fades, so long as his own endures. He will tend to all previous duties, though now including those of keeping the Temple of his appointment in fair condition, that its halls are well maintained to the best of his ability & able for Red Rites. He is charged with the safety of his flock, & that all evil remain banished from the Hearthsfire’s sanctuary.

ADDENDUM

There is an ease in lighting a flame. Though to keep it alive is a far greater task. Being a Luminary isn’t just a title– it is a charge, a covenant, an oath, to protect what burns eternal. Mimesis, or whichever name you'll take up, we have only met briefly; yet, if Ellenore entrusts you to this, her words shall endure.

With the passing of Ellenore Eiriksdóttir, High Keeper of the Red Faith, there is a need for another to carry the torch, tending to the remaining embers. Her words are left as written, for it isn’t my place to mold the dead, nor alter the previous fire. Yet, it is my upheld duty to see this carried through– so that the flame Ellenore once carried is still present.

With that, I bind her testament, her decree– so that those of the Red Faith might remember the passion of her words, & find this letter as a place to move forward. Let her fire join the pyre– unencumbered, & unshaken, past the shackles of mortality.

Acolyte Soren,

Temple Librarian

AND SO IT SHALL BE, BY THE WILL OUR ALLFATHER,

HER EMINENCE, Ellenore Eiriksdóttir,

Master of the Order of the First Flame, High Keeper of the Red Faith & the Flame Imperishable

Acolyte Soren,

An insane keeper read the missive from beneath a sewer grate, mold and rust covering his body. "There goes my status as interim Luminary, I hope they lumin their nary better than I did."

Njáll smiled broadly as he saw his father's name at the bottom of the page. He went to go congratulate Mimesis, and to curiously inquire of his father about his work.
