A LETTER FROM THE AMIRATUS

IT IS MY GREAT HONOR TO HAVE SERVED AS BALIAN’S LAST AMIRATUS, AND TO SERVE AS LOTHARIA’S FIRST. I first arrived in Portoregne when the late King John II was just a boy; a ward of my late husband. I watched him grow up, and after he was put upon his throne I watched his son, the Grand Duke Lothar, grow up. And now, my heart swells with joy that I have had the opportunity to watch the newest Grand Duke, Iohannis, grow up and claim his own birthright. The love I have for Lotharia, and the House of Basileus, is the love I might have for any child. You are my family, and I am grateful to repay the kindness and love shown to me with my service to my people.

THE PATH OF THE BALIANESE, AS WE KNOW, HAS NOT BEEN EASY. We have faced trials and tribulations since our founding, our destruction, and our resettlement as Lotharia. But despite all we have faced, we have stood strong; we have stood together. Defeat, surrender, and death are not words our people know. We have instead held ourselves with perseverance, hope, and community. Few, in all my many years, have ever embodied such descriptors as aptly as Lothar. It is by him that our new home stands and prospers, and it is through his son Iohannis that our legacy shall continue.

 

IOHANNIS, MAY YOUR REIGN BE STRONG AND TRUE. You have proven your own devotion, wisdom, and love for the people of Lotharia even in your young years. It has been seen by your people, and know that it is admired. 

 

LOTHAR AND ISIDORA, MAY YOU FIND PEACE IN YOUR RETIREMENT. Lotharia stands as it does because of your sage leadership for the last sixteen years, and it will continue to do so because of the seeds of resilience in the hearts of your people. It is this legacy of yours that will speak your name fondly for generations to come, and it is why I grant you both your moniker: LOTHAR “THE RESILIENT”, for your perseverance, strong will, and fortitude in protecting your people, and ISIDORA “THE PRESERVER”, for keeping close the community and the values of your people, and sheltering them from harm.
