Who Wears Our Faces

Produced by Acalmaehr Calith

Issued 3rd Amber Cold SA257

To the Blessed Citizens of elHaelun’or.

It is abhorrent, to think that one of our citizens may cross into foreign borders with ire in their hearts and the desire to stir fright- but it is here I realised that no good Mali‘thill would do such a thing: For Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya is bound wholly to elcihi’thilln. Those who stray away from the marble walls to provoke other powers are those directly against progress, and neither are they seeking to hold onto their purity of mind and body: to be aggressive and vile is not pure in any respect.

I had heard of this incident sometime prior, when fellow Idunians had identified and referred to a character: one who clearly does not represent us, one who holds no status within elcihi’thilln and neither were they identified clearly to me: the Idunians thought this individual clearly mentally deranged, an agent of chaos and incitement, not one who speaks for the State.

Truth be told, though we the mali’aheral of elHaelun’or do contemplate the affairs of foreign powers: How the Valah Kingdoms and tribes of Uruks manage, the economy of the Bortu as we assess them for trade agreements in future, and too do we dwell on the wellbeing of fellow mali scattered across Azuras, we most definitely do not hold such anger and contempt as these rumours have echoed. We the citizens of the Motherland are too busy with the focus on reigniting our Ilumiran and Sillumiran, expanding and facilitating new homes as what we initially constructed as we settled in Azuras was clearly not enough.

Neither Citizen, Idunian or foreign Caurosian has identified the one responsible for such indictments, let it be known then that any who can reliably identify this character shall do the Silver State a service, for the Mali‘ata whom has crept into foreign lands and sought to ignite diplomatic uproar is an Mali’ata against the State, not with it. And I shall put such a viper on trial for elcihi’thilln to see, before summarily casting them out of these pristine walls.

I say this to the Blessed Citizens: it is now clear that those of Caurost are unwelcoming of any citizen of Haelun’or, mali’aheral or otherwise. I would suggest caution when travelling across their lands, for I wish for your safety and sanctity of health to be assured. Though those of Caurost have penciled in some form of ‘passport’, something echoes to the ancient history of the Mali’aheral, a division of elves who were battered and beaten in streets, for being different, for pursuing something else. It is my warning then that though one may enter a land with a handshake at the gate it does not mean there is not a second hand with a dagger awaiting you.

To the Caurosians who will inevitably find this missive I will ask that if one of the Blessed Citizens do wish to enter your land with nothing but interest in their heart, that you leave them unscathed to explore such a wondrous continent we have found ourselves on. An individual bore our face to create division and conflict: do not strike at my people simply because a shadow on Azuras moved like us, for they were a shadow.

I give you a parting jest: Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya means ‘Progress and Health’ in our native tongue, what message does it send to censor such words and beliefs?

Maehr’sae Hiylun’eyha

Signed,

Sohaer Acalmaehr Calith

Aurelith lounged back in the clinic office chair, the parchment held between two fingers. She finally lowers the page, folding it with precise, deliberate care, and slid it beneath a weighted silver seal.

"’l'll stick to curing headaches… starting with the one this whole situation just gave me."

And so, she turned back to her work; the true labor Haelun'or- quiet, enduring, and unbothered.

Elijah added another missive to the string of announcements from Haelun'or.  "Who is making all this trouble..." He wondered to himself. Perhaps he should write a letter. It seemed there was never a dull moment in the Silver City's walls these days.

A High Elf moves to deposit a mass lump-sum of coin into the tax deposit box. He peers over his shoulder at the muttering and bustling amongst the citizenry whom looked over the spread missive. Only a curt nod was to follow.

Only bits and pieces had managed to reach the middle-aged woman’s ears in regards to the incident yet it was during her latest visit to Haelun’or that she saw the missive. Well this happened She murmured with a tired sigh and turned to walk towards her home within the Silver City.

Octavius Visaj sat by the counter of his still empty gallery, reading the two missives from the two Elven realms side by side. He dipped his feather in a neat little ceramic bottle of ink, carefully marking the offensive, escalatory remarks in the Caurosian missive, and the peaceful, deescalatory statements in the Haelunorian counterparts. He looked to the Elfess across the counter; whom undoubtably had the same thought.

"The violent lessers always choose war, never peace. Their objective is clear; and they will forge whatever stories required to justify our murder.." The Visaj mouthed, placing the feather to the side. Their work had to continue. The city was bustling with life, and the security of the mali'thill demanded careful preparation. Their project of permanence continued.

In his tenure, Galahad had learned with swiftness the inclinations of the Silver State in political affairs. While he considered himself learned in parsing two-faced deceit from clumsy diplomatic folly, he struggled to discern the motive behind the ink this time. He will surely pay the Mali'aheral a visit nonetheless, without the whims of pen and paper.

Yet again did he find himself pondering over the ongoing squabbles. As a refresher, Aytheln took a new copy of the Caurósi one, scratching his head in confusion. "Did they change the wording? Did they read my mind when I internally called out the Princedom over their purity laws? Gah! How odd."

He neatly folded up a copy of both the Haelun'orian and Caurósi missives, tucking them away in his satchell. He had not read the Haelun'orian one, nor did he really care what it said.

"They should resolve this in a game of chess," Godric suggested.
