THE CORONATION OF HARALDR HAAKONSSON

 

Issued by Haraldr Sigmar Haakonsson, on the 14th of EDVARDSAWND, IAÁ 585, AGE OF DRAGONFYRE; 

 

 

HEED, ELDHIRD,

Since the time of our Providence and the regency of our northern realm, I have been referred to as a Boy-King, a bittersweet phrase that I did not perceive as true until it was declared at the kingsmoot. Thus. In following my late Fadir’s wishes, I desired a fair election where the people, my people, my chieftains, my keepers and the Allfather might choose me of their own will. 

 

Yet having stood before them, I felt the weight of every year I spent waiting to be seen as more than a child holding a crown too large for his hands, the weight which bore upon the shoulders of my Modir and the regents of Norland, who worked to ensure that there was a realm to inherit and guide from the turbulent conclusion to our home upon the continent prior and the accursed isles of Kalldur. My experiences, though many, were minute in comparison to those of my elders and yet, I sought to lead, as my late Fadir, Haakon and Grand-Fadir, Konan, before him did. If not in the title, then in the duty. 

 

The hall watched me like a living thing, measuring, judging, and wondering if the boy they watched grow and named could truly rise as a king, to be tempered into a leader who would guide the realm of the All-Father and the entirety of his peoples.

 

THE PROCESSION

 

RITUAL OF KINGS - ᛋᛁᚦᚱ ᚳᚩᚾᚢᛝᚪ

Similar to his predecessor’s election within the Kingsmoot, uncontested for the Ashwood Throne, Haraldr Sigmar Haakonsson remains without a coronation. The Luminary shall oversee such a ceremony, where His Majesty’s status will be conferred as the King of Norland. He shall be styled as His Royal Majesty.

Malric would turn to the Boy-King, putting down his pen. "This is everyone you want here? You are definitely sure, right?" He would say as he goes to add his own name to the personal invitations. "I guess, we have to be ready for anything to happen... Here we go again."

Dima assisted in the wax pouring upon those invitations, stamping the Ash-Tree crest atop them until they had hardened over enough for removal. If someone had told her years ago that she would have been here for this moment, perhaps she would have told them they were wrong. Despite that, she was, and she could not have been more proud. "Ea will inform Ulfric to restock the tavern for drinks after...."

Constantina received her invitation with great joy! She held it to her chest before scampering over to her parents, every single bit prepared to beg them to let her attend the Pagan coronation in Norland.

There was a pleasant smile upon the mali Nord's face, for he gazed upon the title 'Boy-King' written upon the parchment within his iron clad hands. What a wonderful imprint, he thought. Of course he had always meant it oh-so lightheartedly. For in truth Haraldr was perhaps a friend after the time he has spent telling stories to the boy.

It came as quite the surprise to him when his pet crow brought him a letter. It wasn’t often Hanzo received invites, and it was even rarer for him to show up to events he was invited to. However, he intended to go to this coronation at least. Naturally he had to show the personal invite off to his wife, it was doubtful anyone would believe him otherwise.
