“They let her go? That is interesting,” The Emperor murmured upon hearing the news of his daughter’s release.

His following words caused those nearby to stare with concern. “The urukim seem like nice people, you know? If it was me, I would have chopped his daughter into little pieces and sent them to each vassal — it’d be like a collecting-game. He would have to piece the puzzle; the head goes there, the arm goes there, and eventually, once all her body parts were collected, he would finally make her whole…- I would not have cared if she was a child or adult, it would have been without mercy.”

Spoiler

I literally said that that is exactly what Hadrian would've done. Like word for word. It feels so weird to be so right.

"Mercy? Mercy?" Yhl'Flaaowni near spat the word when she heard what the Rex had done (or rather, not done), the aged priestess' head twitching as her ears flicked, beholden to voices only she heard.

"Rex plays at game of morality auh the concept of nobility, when should have sent hers soul screaming away." She ranted alone amongst her temple, stamping her staff to the ground, the echo ringing out amongst the scent of blood. The one that had so damaged and hurt the Keen now incensed at the very idea of a response softer than singular benefit.

"Only mercy  this one will granting am that of death. Metztli nequitlanequilztli; tlacayeliztli tlacatecoltia." The final words, spoken in her kind's ancient tongue, are accompanied by the whispers of that warped temple and the flickering of the chromatic lights within.

Maddock Tam felt as though the consequences of bigotry and hate crimes was about to come back to bite the Empire in the future. He hopes no children or civilians will be harmed as he goes back to his paperwork.
