I'M NOT CRAZY YOU DID CELEBRATE A 32ND BIRTHDAY

Every time someone makes one of these posts, the average IQ of the server drops by 5 points.

I can recognize where people's distaste for the Empire of Man comes from. It's a challenge to the status quo of the past few years, and the conflict-driven roleplay is probably still a shock to people who haven't lived through prior empires. It is destructive, chaotic, destabilizing, and brutal. JUST LIKE MEDIEVAL SOCIETY. It's okay to not like the roleplay and storylines being produced by this empire; not everyone has to enjoy the same things. But it's a different thing to insinuate that the RP this empire is producing is inherently bad for the server, just because you don't like it. This is one of those moments where you have to put your big boy pants on and accept that roleplay doesn't always go your way, and you may not get to tell the story you want to tell exactly how you want it told. If people want change, then maybe it's time to lock in and tell a good story rather than complaining on the forums every other week?

And this is exactly what I was talking about.

A comment about leadership standards gets met with deflection, mockery, and “don’t get too upset.” Not engagement. Not disagreement. Just dismissal. No one is melting down here. The point wasn’t emotional. It was about responsibility.

If the response to “maybe hold yourself to the server guidelines” is to turn it into a bit/joke, that kind of proves the concern without me needing to add anything else. You don’t have to agree with criticism. But pretending it’s all just people being mad doesn’t really address it either.

At some point it stops being funny and just becomes predictable.

I think it’s still pretty funny, won’t lie.

I’m sure it is funny from your position.

When you’re established, respected, leading a major realm and surrounded by people who enjoy your roleplaying style, it’s easy for this kind of thing to feel harmless. But that’s exactly why I’m talking about responsibility.

When you’re at the top of the "social ladder" here, interactions don’t land the same way as they would from “new player #521.” The dynamic isn’t equal, even if you pretend it is. It’s not about whether you personally find it funny. It’s about whether the most influential person in the room should default to dunking on criticism instead of engaging it or ignoring it.

That’s all.

It’s not that deep.

”That’s all”.

No. I am not changing the way I act. If your criticism is that I am destroying the server, I am dunking on it. I’ll mirror the responses I get with the same ego.

Constructing social hierarchies on the server. Treat people how you want to be treated young man, it’s a baseline steppo of any norm.

That is all.

It actually is that simple.

If your stance is “I’ll mirror ego with ego,” then that’s your choice. I’m not trying to control how you act. But mirroring the lowest energy in the room while holding the highest influence in it is still a decision. That’s all I’ve been pointing out.

This isn’t about “constructing hierarchies.” The hierarchy already exists. Realm leader. Staff. Long-time figure. Influence is real whether you acknowledge it or not. Treat people how you want to be treated works both ways. If you normalize dunking as the response to criticism, don’t be surprised when that becomes the standard everywhere.

You don’t think it’s deep. I think tone at the top always trickles down.

We just disagree.

I'm fairly sure I was arguing with mostly adults because teenagers don't usually know about the history of Zimbabwe unless they're from there, though probably some kids poked their opinion in there somewhere, and I never once stooped to trolling or insulting people. It was stupid to argue on the Internet with strangers, but my conduct remained polite.

Maybe when I'm close to forty I'll stop arguing with strangers on the Internet, and maybe when you're close to thirty you'll stop trolling people as a default response.

Happy, uh... 21st to 29th Birthday, I guess?

You’ve placed me on some higher pedestal. I’ve just simply put myself back onto the same level as others.

We can disagree. Just don’t get angsty when people (like me) don’t agree with your opinion.

You are a very slow individual. I would explain why, but I think it’s speaking for itself.
