On the Matter of the Imperial Captives

The Rally Bell of Urguan was struck.

Dorrák Ireheart announced before the mountain that Imperial captives had been taken and held within the halls of the dwarves. Word was sent across the realms

IMPERIAL CAPTIVES HELD IN URGUAN

In response, the Emperor issued a single command

“Kill them.

That message reached the mountain swiftly.

Chaos followed.

Many among the dwarves demanded blood in answer to the Emperor’s words. Voices rose in anger and old grudges stirred. Gimble Jewelbeard watched in silence as tempers flared and debate raged long within the halls.

Not long after, a group of Imperials approached the gates, demanding the captives’ release without terms.

The dwarves refused.

A Sorvian scout ventured too close and was caught in a skirmish.

Steel was drawn.

Dorin loosed an arrow, driving the Imperials back. Moments later, the cavalry charged from the mountain’s shadow.

Dorin released two more arrows in the fray before reaching the field. By the time he arrived, Imperial bodies already lay scattered upon the stone. The dwarves pursued the retreating force, isolating their leader. He was hunted down and slain.
Several of his men chose death by their own hands rather than face capture in defeat.

One Imperial survived the rout.

She had come to bargain for the lives of the captives and had shown a measure of honor despite following a reckless commander. She was brought back, stripped of her gear, and released without ransom.

Her equipment was not returned.

As for the captives:
Gimble Jewelbeard offered to pay for their release. But the Grand Marshal declared it too late, for one of the hostages was already dead

One was slain by Dorrák Ireheart, claimed as an accident.
The Legion was tasked with an investigation into the occurrence.
Another was sold to a bounty hunter for 200 mina.
Two remained thereafter.

Of the remaining prisoners, the former Dragon Knight was personally returned by Dorin to Alba.
The final captive was executed.

Thus ended the matter of the Imperial captives in Urguan.
