[this my edited app (third time edit)]

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1. Biography:

- It needs to be a good bio that is fun to read but it must also be according to lore.

(they cannot invent races,....).

-It must be original. (I want to see original characters and original bio’s )

-No nonsense: There are a lot of people that think that the longer your bio is the better.

That is not always right a bio that is not that long but that has good info and that is fun to read will still be better than a bio that is a page long but that is filled with nonsense and useless information

(personally I don’t think that there is much useless info but still).

2.Effort:

I really like it when I see an app that is done by someone who has put a lot of effort in it.

This show that the person really wants to join the server. You can see the amount of effort that a person has put in his app by:

- looking at the way he answered the questions. (longer answers instead of yes/no.)

-the bio: if the bio is good and well written and when there are no spelling errors you can be almost a 100% sure that the person who wrote has put a lot of effort in his app (if it’s not copied).

-The skin: Personally I really enjoy it when a person made his own skin, this shows that the person really wants to get accepted. (custom made skins are most of the time more like the character in the bio)

3.What is role play?:

I find this a very important question, because Lord of the craft is a roleplay server.

If a person doesn't answer correct on this question then he won't get accepted by me

This is because no matter how good of a writer (bio) you are if you don't understand what role play is or how to do it correctly then this server isn't for you.

I am very strikt about this point because A player that doesn't know how to roleplay also ruins the fun of other players that "try" to role play with him (Meta/power gaming).

4. Questions about your character:

With these question I mean the questions like : can your character wield a sword, is he good builder.

These questions need to be answered realistically and must be coherent with your bio.

There is no one that is good at everything , every character has a weak spot and things where he is less good at. (ex. My character is very stupid when it comes to talking to girls).

I want to see realistic people with flaws. (alcohol problems or something like that ;D)

These questions also show if the person is a good role player.

I personally don’t like it when those questions have very short answers because in my eyes these questions are very important since they define your character.

5. Read the rules and lore:

All persons must have read the rules and lore.

-Rules: the rules of this server are easy to understand and not hard to follow.

Reading them doesn’t take a lot of time (is shows that the person puts effort in his app see nr2)

-Lore : Personally I think that you cannot write a good bio if you didn’t read the lore.

The lore is well written and not that long ergo reading it isn’t a lot of work and for people who really want to join the server it should be a pleasure to read.(again it shows that the person really wants to join the server.

These are the thing that I find really important when applying.

There are a lot more things that I find important but since I can only name 5.

thanks for taking the time to read this (again).

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

 1. Layout: There are many many applications everyday, people must format there application correctly which allows the application to be easy to read and fast flowing. There is a saying 'you eat with your eyes first' same context with applications.

 2. Proof reading: All it takes is 5 minutes to re-read your application and check that spelling is perfect and everything makes sense. People that make constant spelling mistakes show a lack of effort and time to try to secure there place into the LOTC server. Not just spelling & grammar, people also don't link there application and there skin. Such as times when I see people put they have had a wealthy upbringing but in there description there describing somebody who looks like a poor beggar and then do something completely different in there skin.

 3. Biography: Some people follow the same lines of killing & fighting which gets pretty boring. I like to see applications which have unique factors such as fears and beliefs and even as far as phobias and allergies. People also seem to get carried away from a biography into a story. They try to make it to action packed and get distracted with the reason they are writing.

 4. Research: People don't seem to read the lore and law. Some applications have no link to the lore and often against the lore which shows lack of effort to take time to read but also proves people are also not reliable if they answered the question 'have they read the lore' with yes. Some ambitions describe about killing people and hunting them down and stealing things which if not done correctly will need a villain application which some have no idea about.

 5. Comments: I am going to be honest I am worried about putting this in but I feel this is a strong point. As the point of applications is to get a reply then this does fit in. People often add comments in to there application or try to bumb it which actually significantly decreases there chance of getting in as it puts them back to the front. People do not seem to be aware of this point.

I hope you see that I would fit in and be a great addition to the team among with the huge amount of people I have already helped.

Thank you for reading.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

[1] Biography

--1)How well written it is (Lore Wise). I think this is one of the most important parts of an application because it shows us how much the user knows about the lore, and how they followed it. If they didn't follow the lore very well, then obviously we can't accept them because it would ruin RP. It also provides us with the information of how well they can type up a biography of a new character (How well they can Role-play, imagination, creativity).

--2) How well Written it is in Grammatical terms. This is also very important because, if you accept someone who has very many problems in the English language, then it could lead to very poor RP, and it may make the community upset. For example, you would not say "u" Instead of "You" In an Essay, so why do it on a bio? That could lead to, even, in game, where you Character may be a very intelligent Elf, but it may ruin the RP, because someone is using "cuz" instead of "Because". It only makes sense to follow the proper grammatical terms, in and out of game.

[2] Ambitions

I think this is very important in an application because it answers some questions about who your character is going to be. For example, if your characters ambition is to be a very grand and rich merchant, then obviously, your ambitions is to make profit out of your collected items. This way, you may be able to build upon your character. If the ambitions are written poorly, then what is the point of starting a character if you have nothing to base it upon?

[3] Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?

I think this is another important one, because why would you accept someone on to your server who does not know how to follow rules correctly? You wouldn't. Point is, if the person does not understand what, for example, meta gaming is, and they use it in RP, it could cause havoc, since many people are very sensitive to Meta gaming. We need to know that they fully understand and abide by the rules, before acceptance. This way, it could ease the load of GM's and Admin's taking their time off of improving the server, and on to Ban reports for silly things.

[4] What do you know about roleplaying?

LotC is one of the most organized RP servers I have ever seen. One of the reasons, and I am sure of this, is because the community knows what they are doing. They know how to properly Role Play. Accepting someone who does not know how to properly Role play is a very poor choice, since it is a Role play server. "But, what if I have never played on a Role play minecraft Server, before?" It's alright, as long as you know what you are doing, it will be fine. To make sure you role-play properly, you need to understand the Rules, have a strong Bio, and make sure you have proper English. Following those guidelines will almost guarantee you a very fun adventure through Aegis.

[5] How many hours are you willing to dedicate to the server, weekly?

I find this an important one, because this way, we know how long these people will Role play in game. It will increase activity within the game, and make Aegis a lot more fun. There would be no point in accepting someone who will only spend about 1 hour on the server weekly, right? It takes up space on the server to register someone, and if they never log in, anyways, then it’s just useless memory being wasted. "But, I don’t know how long, exactly, I am on every week, will I be declined for that?" No, as long as you can provide with a decent amount of time, that is equal to every week, you will be good to go. Keeping active on the server is key to boost up community activity, and over all fun in Aegis!

Thank you for reading!

Regards,

Ryan.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1.Biography: Almost everyone gets denied because of this! You can't have you're character live in some fake far away land called Eaylin!

You need to have good grammar in this it's a very important part of the Biography. I've seen a person with a Biography in 200bc playing as a Roman so that's another reason a lore wise biography is needed.

2.What do you know about roleplaying?: This is also very important like all of the parts. This is a roleplay server we need to only let in good roleplayers! Lots of people try to join and don't even know what roleplaying is! To roleplay you need to have proper grammar thats something that's important in role playing this is very important and should always be denied if one doesn't know what roleplaying is.

3.Have you read understood and agreed to the rules?: It's obvious why this is important you can't join a server without knowing the rules. Although when people make applications no one I've ever seen has ever not agreed.

4. The skin: You need to have a skin for the server not some Poptart Kitty Skin. I've never seen someone with a non roleplaying skin though.

5.You need to be mature!: If you're some 7 year old kid who has terrible grammar and uses foul words I'm afraid you're not getting accepted Little Billy!

You will be PM'd and I will put your name on this thread in a rollcall list

Will you get a pm when you are not accepted?

(so that we don't have to wait on an aswer that we will never get)

Five things for good apps:

1. Always have a good and legit bio. In the week it took me to join, three times my app was denied due to bio not fitting with lore. I got "no ex-royalty", and other stuff, because it was not good in lore.

2. Know what RP is. If your an idiot who has no idea what Roleplay is, goodbye. Hint: ROLEPLAYING server. Roleplaying is essentially making a good character, and staying in the guideline of it. And, no metagaming or powergaming.

3. Grammer. Nobody roleplaying would say "n00b" in character. And RaNDom CaiTaliZation and cAPS lOCK tYPING are annoying and run the experience.

4. Have a legitimate skin for your character. If you come on with a Master Chief skin, I don't think you will last long on this server. And, if you use someone else's skin, not compliant with character, you won't last long either.

5. Maturity. One, there are things that happen here. And two, unless your Rping as a baby (Which would be lame), we don't need a seven-year-old. Do not curse in ooc, and do not use "1337 speak" in character.

I have enjoyed this server, and would like to help it in some way.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1. BIOGRAPHY - I think we can all agree that biography is the number one most important thing when you're looking at an application. You can tell a lot about someone just from one little section. It is always nice to see people who go outside of the "parents-killed-by-orcs" norm.

2. GRAMMAR - Grammar would probably have to be my second. I'm sure there are people out there who could be excellent roleplayers and could bring a lot to the server, but can't get accepted/are hesitant to apply because they feel their grammar isn't up to par. That's why I feel you have to take into account everything on the application, (especially age and country) and not just how well their grammar is.

3. AMBITIONS - Ambitions are important because they (at least they should, that's not always the case...) determine just how you will role play. The shifty thief isn't going to be anything like the charitable merchant, in actions or morals. People need to pick something entertaining to themselves and the people around them, but also keep it reasonable (not something like "to be the king of all aegis").

4. SKINS - Skins show just how bad people want to play on the server. When I first applied, I spent like 2 hours making a (crappy :P ) skin. I was so pumped. It's nice to see people making their own skin that fits their character, rather than taking a cookie-cutter skin and rollin' with it.

5. SERVER EXPECTATIONS - Everyone applying wants to play for some reason, obviously. I think some people apply because a friend is playing, or they've been banned from other servers. This can tell some things about the applicants that the other questions can't. (At least I think so.)

(I felt there was no point adding in things like "have you read the rules?" and "what are the 4 races". Things like that really don't say much about the person, only that they're good at typing "yes" and copy-and-pasting from different threads. Of course some people are excited about the server and will spend a lot of time reading up on the wiki and stuff. Just these questions are impossible to draw much from. Also things like "can you character read/write?" don't tell much because people will evolve. Characters and their RPers will learn.)

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1. Keeping everything in the whole application in accordance with the lore of Aegis

2. Previous minecraft multiplayer experience. If the person just started and this is his/her

first server they might not be as good of an addition as some other more experienced players.

3. The rules such as powergaming and metagaming.

4. Previous roleplaying experience. If they have no experience than them going onto this server might not be a good idea.

5. Grasp of the english language if they are from an English speaking country. If they can't spell right and use bad grammar they are probably immature or to young.

What are the top 5 things, that are most important in an application and why?

#1. A well written biography. (I belive that this is most important because your biography is you characters back story. The bioggraphy explains why your character does the things they do, feel the way they feel, and act the way they act. If your backstory is poorly constructed, chances are that your role-playing skills are simmilar.)

#2 What do you know about role-playing? (This is important because the server is based around role-playing. If the player is an insufficient role-player, they are probably going to water down the game play experiance for the people around them.)

#3 Role-play skins that are appropriate. (If the skin a player uses in game is inapropriate it could lead other players to not take them seriously.)

Examples of inapropriate skins:

-A robot (this wont work because the world of aegis is in a medieval or renaissace era.)

-Honeydew (unoriginal, and there are far to many Honeydews and variations running around.)

-Creeper (a creeper is not a selectable race and they dont exist on the server anyways.)

-Nude (I simply find it unacceptable)

#4 Good to Articulate use of grammar. ("hello. I can haz minas plz?" is not acceptable in rp, is just plain annoying, and other players wont take you seriously if you use that kind of language.)

#5 What other severs have you played? why did you leave them? (This could weed out possible greifers. If they were thrown out of a server for griefing then they might be a potential griefer on this server. they also migt be realing into PVP servers, sudjesting they might just jump into random battles with players that are just standing around chatting.)

Comment: The GM's must be realy busy as it is. If we can lighten there load, then that would make it easyer for them to focus on improvingg the gameplay, the sevrer, events, and even just having a good time.

Forum Name : Guyarcher23

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

(In order of most important)

1. The biography. Over 95% of applications are denied for the biography for (being)

- too short

-plagiarized

-needs to be more in-depth

-Doesn't fit the lore

-Unrealistic/unoriginal

Biography need to be AT THE MINIMUM A paragraph/ 8 sentences. The number of sentences and how in-depth determine if it's acceptable or not.

2.Grasp of the english language- Being how it says English Language, it means you to be able to speak/type correctly, Capitalize correctly, and stay on topic of what you're talking about.

3. What is Roleplay; Define it in your OWN words- Being how "creative" people are, they can simply copy someone else's, or google it. Like it says, in their OWN words. For good measure, it shouldn't be less than 2 sentences.

4. Does your character have any Special abilities?

THIS is where applications that have excellent biographies throw them off the wagon. Players can't simply "Get hit, goes into a super rampage destroying everything in his path" and expect to get accepted. This is powergaming, which you can get banned for doing this on the server. Things shouldn't get too out of hand on the "special abilities".

5. Application style-

Obviously, an application with barely any of the application requirements won't get anywhere. Also, applications that are clustered that make it hard to read make your head hurt and the temptation to slam your head against the wall. Applications need to be neat, clear and little showy colors. Applications shouldn't have 10 different colors just to answer what timezone you have!

Thanks, I hope this is pretty good.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1. Good grip on English. In order to convey your ideas to people in-game and on the forums, you need good English. I find the incoherent applications the hardest to understand, and from what I've seen, the hardest to accept.

2. Biography. This is the background of your character. This story is the defining characteristics of your character, and shows who you will be when you enter Aegis. The reason this is second is because your character changes as you continue your journey. Your character could be someone entirely different after a few months on the server.

3.What other servers did you play on and why did you leave them? This aspect is important due to the fact hat other server experiences can subconciously change who you are oocly and icly. For example: my character and I hate fighting/pvp (depending on whether it is ooc or ic) because I came from a pvp server that I hated specifically because it was a pvp server.

4.What do you expect this server will be like? One of the worst things to do when applying to a server is not realizing what it will actually be like. By making sure the applicant knows what they're getting into, the person who will accept or deny the application will get a look into the mind of the applicant. This will allow us to help the applicant into Aegis with the right idea.

5. How did you hear about us? I feel that this is important because it can give us feedback about what we're doing in the way of advertisement. This may not be especially pertinent to the applicant but it will help the server's longetivity and success.

Thanks for your consideration.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why? In no particular order:

1. Definition of "Roleplaying": I feel this is very important. If the user doesn't understand what roleplaying is, they can't get the "feel" for it, and essentially won't be able to roleplay as well as others. If they can define the word correctly, and understand what it means, they can act it out accordingly.

2. Biography: Another huge part of roleplaying, the biography is not just a backbone to the character's personality and ambitions. The biography shows how well the person can make up a story. When roleplaying, this is the main objective, to make up the story and act it out as you go along. If the biography is short or lacking detail, it shows the user doesn't have the skill yet to make up a scenario and play along.

3. Spelling and Grammar: Not an actual section of the application, but necessary nonetheless; this element reflects how the user will interact with the world and other people. If nothing is capitalized and/or punctuated, the user most likely doesn't pay attention to details such as this. What effect would it have if in battle someone shouted, "i will win hahaha"? It would seem inappropriate for the situatuion, and sort of lacking emotion, which is also essential to roleplay.

4. Ambition: This is controversial, but important to roleplaying. The most generic answer to this is "Raise a kingdom to be strong and powerful and crush other kingdoms". I even wrote a guide on how to write and ambition. If everyone had a kingdom, then there would be no room left! A good ambition will provide huge amounts of time spent roleplaying trying to reach that goal. If the ambition isn't strong, how will the user spend their time in Aegis?

5. Character's Abilities: These are the aspects that define your character and his/her limitations. If you say your character is a horrible miner, but excellent farmer, how will people react if they find your character in a mine with a permit? This adds a lot to roleplay, and helps to make sure that everyone isn't doing everything. It is a bit hard to restrict since skills aren't on, but this portion keeps it lower. If someone can stick to their character's abilities, they can roleplay much better.

Thanks for reading my application, I hope you enjoyed it!
