A Painting of Kaba Halcourt smelling the flowers that grew in the shared gardens between her familys home and the Halcourt Estate

At 23 summers young, a woman by the name of Kaba Monspire found herself stepping foot into what was then known simply as the Duchy of Alba. Summoned by a missive she found during her travels, she met face to face with the Lord Commander, seeking to join the Prince's Army. Having left her family, she had nowhere else to go and was tired of a life on the road, so she decided to stay. During this time, she steadily worked her way up the ranks to Sergeant. She also fell for a fellow soldier in the army and was welcomed with open arms by the Halcourt family, who, even though she had a lower status, did not see her as a lesser person.

After participating in a stage play herself, she found great joy in writing them, spending any time she could outside of the military in writing these plays and hosting them on the stage. Her joy in the arts caught the eyes of a few, and after some time she was offered a position she felt unworthy for, taking on the position of Headmistress of the Princes Institution, an offer from the Rosavena family. Having been through the Salvos and Haense war, as well as the devastating loss of her husband after only seven short years of marriage, she agreed, hoping it would come with a calmer, more steady life. This wish did not last, as keeping a continuous roster of students and instructors was far harder than any battle she had been in, but she had always been a stubborn woman.

As the continent she loved fell to ruin, she boarded the boats that took her to Azuras. After the long journey, her body continued to grow weaker with age and her mind wearier. Every day she'd enter the halls, her eyes cast onto the statue in the foyer with "Dame Kaba Halcourt" inscribed below, and it gave her strength, wishing to live up to the title that was bestowed upon her. This strength did not last long, and she knew that when the next generation of students flooded the halls, she could not keep up with her duties. And so she paid her fare on a small ship and traveled somewhere new. Finding a small cottage on the shore, Kaba remained there for many more years, spending her days watching the water and her evenings writing anything that came to mind. Stationed so far away came with a price news often reached her far too late. It nearly broke her to hear the news of her dear friends' passing, and by the time news of her grandchildren's birth had reached her, she was far too weak to travel.

Kaba Halcourt was found resting eternally in God's embrace by a traveling merchant in the year 2080. The tables were filled with old books and half-written works. A painting of the woman at a much younger age hung on the wall, next to a painting of herself and her late husband. Left on the bedside table was a letter addressed to her youngest daughter, Octavia Halcourt.

My Darling Octavia,

Forgive your mother, for I did not give you the life you deserved. When you married into the Rhoswald family, I knew you would be cared for, for their familial bond is stronger than most forged steel. I leave you with nothing of worth, but know your father and I are so proud of you, and I am forever sorry that I did not get to meet your children.

May GOD let my soul rest,

Kaba Halcourt, 2079

Spoiler

OOC:

first pk post kinda nervous

Yes she was still alive lol,

Kaba was my first ever character on LOTC and I've learned a lot while playing her and while I did not get to do everything I wanted to with her I am still very happy with where her life went. I am forever greatful for those who helped me and for Alba for giving this player a chance.

Note: The letter to Octavia was privately sent to her home.

Roswyn Halcourt read over this missive with a saddened heart, fond memories of the assignments she had submitted to her childhood headmaster, and how she did once get her lost within the capital. The first dame of Alba, Kaba Halcourt, would surely live on within her mind forever, as she was one who aided in forming it.

"May the One who brings peace to the universe bring peace to us and to all Humanity," Lothaire utters. He kneels in the dim candle light, yellow and gold, whereby numerous dark shadows, his doppelgängers, dance and shokel upon the stone walls. He feels his age, upon his knees, his back, and upon his eyes. It rests like a gentle, constant tiredness, like a tide, soft, ebbing and flowing, but ever so slowly becoming higher. He remembers Kaba, and for her, he prays, ending, "Amen." Who few after him remembers her? He lights another candle. That one is for her, that one is to chase away those shadows.

"I shall always think 'pon thy visage at ev'ry stage et performance." Henri spake gently as he lit a candle within the vaulted chapel of Orchere Hall.

Savannah von Rhoswald gasps as she noticed Kaba in the seven skies "Welcome my friend, come join me for a chat."

Meanwhile Meredith Devereux gave a heavy sigh "I didn't know her that well but she did put on some really good shows. I will miss that, I struggle with it"
