Issued by the Blackwyrm Company, under the banner of House Valmont. Let it be known to every lord and freeman who dwells beneath the eyes of the realm:   The Blackwyrm Company, sworn to House Valmont, does this day declare open war upon the vassal of Avistra.

 

An investigation by the IMPERIAL INQUISITION into the death of Valliard Willy Horen has borne its grim fruit. The blame falls upon one man by our finding: Sir Merle Altwegg. Avistra has given these men shelter, and in doing so has made their crime its own. The second is theft of land. Avistra has pushed its borders onto ground that belongs to Valmont by right, and has done so knowing full well whose soil it crossed. And in settlement of the grievance, render unto us twenty thousand minas.

 

We are aware that thirty thousand stands owed to Hartwell; we will take twenty in full settlement and count the matter closed. Meet these terms, or meet us in arms.

 

Let Avistra answer for the murder it harbors and the ground it has stolen. The Blackwyrm Company marches for blood.

Ser Aviel looked over the second missive regarding a vassal going to war with Avistra. He sat in upon his bed within a tent in the crusader camp set up in the lands of Sternfell, not too far from New Avistra.
The Helfgott Patriarch rubbed the bridge of his nose in annoyance before finally rummaging through his traveling backpack and pulled out blank sheets of parchment and lit a candle; writing into the dead of night.
