  1. 1. Patch 1.6.5 | What should we do?

    • Keep the skill plugin; update it as needed.
    • Remove the skill plugin.
    • Replace the skill plugin with a different solution, for example something like mcMMO.
    • Revamp the skill plugin, change how restrictions work for different tools to be less difficult.
    • Other (please specify in comments)
  2. 2. What are you most upset about all this?

    • I'm not upset!
    • I'm upset I lost my old skill levels.
    • I'm upset because I hate this skill system.
    • I'm upset because it "breaks RP" and is a "grind".

100 pt system would probably take longer were the 3x xp would only take a bit to put in. but I love both ideas :)

I practically completely disagree with the skill system.

Yes, It adds a small chunk of extra RP to the server, but it also removes a lot of the fun on the server.

Myself, being one of the people who cannot get on the server regularly, Finds the restriction to tools and weapons, until a certain level is acquired, very inconvenient. When we had the old skill system, I only managed to just get my skills up to the level where I could use Iron tools, This was because I could only get onto the server around 5times every 2/3 weeks - ( At this present moment, it is the same, but shall change after Christmas ) - Having to do that all again annoys me, I've created a stockpile of iron, and the next time I am on the server, I was going to create a few sets of tools, I now, am forced to use stone ones until I get my skills up.

I admit, I'm not one to go mining, or fighting in the battles of the undead, My character prefers to live a peaceful life, But when I do choose to go out, whether it be to rob from the rich, in the darkness of night, or to gather a quick few pieces of wood, I want to be able to defend myself, with a iron/diamond sword. I haven't got the worlds best computer, so I get quite a bit of lagg and low fps rates, which also is a reason why I don't participate in battles.

I understand that for someone who has a good computer, and is on frequently, This might seem a petty and pointless reason to hate on the skill system, but for me, and I expect a few others, This is a major problem.

Feel free to comment and moan about what I have put, Not much to stop you.

As a player that went from 275 skill levels to zero, I like the skills system. I believe it could use some work, but long-term I think it's a good approach to things, especially if and when more skills get added, such as schools of magic and whatnot. The more skills that are developed, the more players will be forced to specialize, and that's a good thing.

My only objection is that is forces some of us to grind. For example, I'm an orc but I have to grind mining to level 30 just so I can finish rebuilding a sandstone fort that I started on the other day. It also doesn't make much sense for a 50-something-year old Uzggoth of Krugmar and Targoth of the Krughai to have to train starting with a wooden sword, just to get his skills back up to par.

I'm still an advocate of giving all players a one-time, straight-up 275 levels to distribute as they will. Then to delevel or choose other skills as they come will require leveling. This eliminates the grind, allows us to specialize according to our character sheet and jump right back into role-playing.

I agree. I think we should be given some levels from the get go to place where we want.

Also another idea, maybe if you donate 5$ you get like 10 extra levels? or something or you get to choose to add x amount of levels to each skill

Which is why the 100 pts sounds the best, so far. I like that idea, since I didn't want to grind another 30 levels, just so I can build some rooms in the FoA base, ffs. :P

Ok, what is the 100 point system? and I like the idea of x3 week.

I also had the idea to make the skill system more rewarding rather than restricting, but still make it somewhat restricting as it makes sense and I believe it will add to the RP,but maybe after lv 25 or something you start to get rewards for that skill, kind of like mcmmo, but better, because Vaq will make it, and it will make better sense.

Also maybe a higher lv cap for donators.

I personally liked the Skill System, and the only problem I had with it last time it was on was the mob-lag. If that's fixed, the only suggestion I would give is to make something like a "Starter Bundle," Such as being able to start with Iron in one skill of your choice, and stone in another.

Needs revamping...here's the thing with the system if it's a lot like how it was before, we have a limit on how many skills we can get AND they're hard as hell to get...I say if we have a limit, make them easy to get so de-leveling one skill isn't like an hour long decision. Then if we remove the limit, keep them as is, it makes sense if the system is crazy hard that we actual reap a nice reward from it, permanent skills.

I think if you have an established character (meaning you've been accepted before the plugin was fixed, that you should be able to place points where you want them up to max allowed.

It doesn't make any sense that a miner suddenly forgot how to mine, a fighter forgot how to fight. ect ect.

For new characters or old ones that wish to learn something new, I think the plugin would be fine. You don't enter the world knowing everything and all that.

i think they should do some quad xp or something because i was one of the highest levelled in mining and it took an age to do.

ps i don't quite agree with you have to choose what you would like to do (Farming, mining and so on) or you won't be able to do something.

the skills should be there so that you perform better in them skills.

for example

mining - at low levels you have a slight chance in getting more damage on your pickaxe or a chance that no items will be dropped.

this way of doing skills would cater for everyone and this is what I think should happen.

less restriction the better

+1 100pt system but you should be restricted to only be able to choose from a max of 3/4 areas.

So instead of being level 10 in repair an also level 10 in fishing which have no RP sense you'll instead be 30 in swords and 20 in axes and 20 in repair etcetera.

Another thing I thought of is the mob spawn in Aegis might need a reevaluation. Many characters are not combat oriented, and if they cannot travel safely, they cannot RP. Not everyone is capable of hiring guards in every timezone, especially latenight -5 GMT when there's less then 40 people online.

I know I've died a few times just going to Sister City from Laurelin from mob spawn. I don't really think Native is going to like tunnels or covered roads going all over Malinor.

You do know that the first tools in mankind's history was small rocks?

Not wood. And to be honest, in real life if I don't know how to work with a shovel I think I will pick the hardest one (Rock, Iron)

And go with that, who in the world picks wood?

Heck even natives on the remote parts of the world uses rocks.

Yes,but this isn't real life and we live in 2011 and in Aegis..

more then the 1 Century.
