  1. 1. Patch 1.6.5 | What should we do?

    • Keep the skill plugin; update it as needed.
    • Remove the skill plugin.
    • Replace the skill plugin with a different solution, for example something like mcMMO.
    • Revamp the skill plugin, change how restrictions work for different tools to be less difficult.
    • Other (please specify in comments)
  2. 2. What are you most upset about all this?

    • I'm not upset!
    • I'm upset I lost my old skill levels.
    • I'm upset because I hate this skill system.
    • I'm upset because it "breaks RP" and is a "grind".

I think it should be more restrictive. People can still solo their way through and get the majority of supplies by themselves. Maybe with even less overall points, people will get the point: You're not supposed to grind all of them.

I'm still an advocate of giving all players a one-time, straight-up 275 levels to distribute as they will. Then to delevel or choose other skills as they come will require leveling. This eliminates the grind, allows us to specialize according to our character sheet and jump right back into role-playing.

I think that we should keep the system but make leveling easier because I don't want to have to spend all the long hours I did to get the skills I had again.

Gentlemen and Noble ladies.

I prefer a system where upon any man or lady have the follow rights

* Have the ability to destroy trees with their hands

* The ability to carry any tools up to the grade of stone without specialising.

* The ability to specialise in three skills which will have all their opotunities open for one.

An example would be a warrior blacksmith. He got max level in blacksmithing, swordsmanship and extraction, on the other hand he can not do any other skills. He can not cook food (or it comes out as rotten or works poorer than other food)

Or give the player who specialize in these skills an exp buff, perhaps on 200-500% exp speed?

Or simple make them a form where they receive levels in their specialized skills.

Please let me hear your opinion on my request.

I'd prefer something like this, because you'll start out with some skills instead of nothing. I've been able to use any weapon or item I want, and now i suddenly cant? And, in this manner, you will have one vital part of the game that others will not, but you will still have to work your way up in other areas.

I am sad that I lost my level 51 stats in Farming..... I guess this is not anyones fault so lol. Is it possible to wait for the 1.0.0 update to implement the stats system or did I skip over that reason when I read the post XD

What makes a Stone sword different from a diamond one. Nothing why cant I use both. Why can I not harvest wheat why can I not fight in iron armor. It makes no sense. A skill system is good but not when it breaks the economy, Ruins Villains Role play, I lost My ability to repair Iron armor and use diamond swords which does make me upset by I still don't like a skill system.

Well the basic diference is weight.A diamond sword would be almost unncariable since its so heavy.Abd try to wied a wood sword Then a iron One.There is a big diference betwen them

How can your character use stone tools without knowing

How to use wood?Your character has to learn using

those. After becoming a pro of the wooden tools,

He could use the stone ones. But good idea with the

special exp.

I enjoy the skills system. I'm just a bit miffed i'm going to have to go through leveling it all up again.

When it was first removed and a big message said "DON'T WORRY! YOUR SKILLS ARE SAFE AND WILL RETURN WITH THE PLUGIN AT A LATER DATE!" I actually believed it.

Now i've come back and found myself unable to use my weapons and gear. I used to be able to repair iron, but now my blacksmithing is 7. You cannot fathom how long it took me to work that up smelting cobble at 4xp per, and on the some rare occasions I got ores to smelt. I _WAS_ able to repair iron (and had aspirations for opening a blacksmith to repair gear for others), but now can't repair anything.

On top of that, with my shops having vanished (shops where I used to sell stone/wood gear at very affordable prices for the new folks), I can't even buy myself some wood/stone stuff to start the skill grind back up again.

I'm literally in a position of having to go and beg for wood/sticks, or start punching tree leaves and hope that %0.05/%2 drop rate for planks and sticks gives me something to work with.

Suffice to say, i'm pretty disappointed, but i'm also pretty sure i'm the only one concerned with my own worries. I just REALLY hope shops come back soon. I had SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much inventory in my shops. Multiple complete sets of all gear. People bought and sold all the time.

P.S. I know admins can set skills to certain levels. If I provide a screenshot with my former skills, could I have them returned to me, like when LWC ate my precious treasure chests, and I got those restored with screenies?

P.P.S. Being unable to even chop down trees(wood/stone gear in vanished shops), to plant some saplings, to (re)learn to harvest mushrooms, so I can (re)learn to plant and harvest wheat, so I have bread, so I don't starve to death.... is REALLY disheartening!

I'm quite happy it has returned, but at the same time dissapointed that I lost my blacksmithing level. While I understand that it's better to start off fresh to check for bugs with the way it works now, I just consider the time used on the skills system before was a waste. Never the less I'm happy that skills has made it's return, and will begin the great climb back up.

Thank you Vaq for bringing back skills.

I agree that the skills should become even more restrictive. Right now you can still be a jack of all trades and most everyone has high-level weapon-mastery along with mining and blacksmithing. This is why it's more of a grinding frustration rather than a facilitator of diverse role-play. I believe that as more skills are added, such as various schools of magic, enchanting, alchemy, archery, taming, things like that, more players will be required to focus their skills. It will take time, but I believe it will happen.

My friend said he went from 90 swords to 0 swords. >.>

I think your friend was one of those people using autoclickers which broke the system in the first place. I was out hunting like a madman earnin my loot and I had 55 swords, and I thought that was a freakin ton. I'm at 33 now I think, but back then you could just hold left click and you'd swing wildly and maybe earn 3-4 swings worth of exp for every hit you made. Apparantly these autoclicker types would log hundreds upon hundreds of clicks every second, so they'd get the exp for killing a million zombies off maybe 50 of them.

You do know that the first tools in mankind's history was small rocks?

Not wood. And to be honest, in real life if I don't know how to work with a shovel I think I will pick the hardest one (Rock, Iron)

And go with that, who in the world picks wood?

Heck even natives on the remote parts of the world uses rocks.

As a player that went from 275 skill levels to zero, I like the skills system. I believe it could use some work, but long-term I think it's a good approach to things, especially if and when more skills get added, such as schools of magic and whatnot. The more skills that are developed, the more players will be forced to specialize, and that's a good thing.

My only objection is that is forces some of us to grind. For example, I'm an orc but I have to grind mining to level 30 just so I can finish rebuilding a sandstone fort that I started on the other day. It also doesn't make much sense for a 50-something-year old Uzggoth of Krugmar and Targoth of the Krughai to have to train starting with a wooden sword, just to get his skills back up to par.

I'm still an advocate of giving all players a one-time, straight-up 275 levels to distribute as they will. Then to delevel or choose other skills as they come will require leveling. This eliminates the grind, allows us to specialize according to our character sheet and jump right back into role-playing.

Very good idea +1
