Lexperiments 18 Share Posted November 23, 2011 I've (happily) noted that Mogroka has been training apprentices in shamanism recently, and there are a fairly higher amount of shamans than before. So I decided ta make a board for just general talk 'bout da spirits and questions if latz has any. Su, ask away if latz want, or jus' talk. I also wanted ta bring to attention da fact dat potions might be able to be easily made soon. I've been sendin' some "scouts" in, erm, odd places, an' found a way to easily heat an' distribute liquids. I 'ave not seen many potions in Krugmar anywayz, and dink it might be good to make it more common. Da army can always use some extra strength, from a potion o' uddawise. DecoLamb 959 Share Posted November 24, 2011 Well a good question I've wanted to ask, is what does the spirit world look like to everyone when they meditate and enter it.
Lexperiments 18 Author Share Posted November 24, 2011 Well a good question I've wanted to ask, is what does the spirit world look like to everyone when they meditate and enter it. Spirit world? I personally have never been in it myself, and it has been discovered relatively recently. You see, when I was trained (or partially trained, the training never was completed), we simply summoned spirits to our world instead of delving into theirs. I should look into this; I'll get back to latz.
DecoLamb 959 Share Posted November 24, 2011 To me it always has a different look each time I enter. Sometimes it's a huge forest, sometimes the bottom of the ocean, still others it is an intricate palace of ice and snow. The spirits have so many wonderful forms that will never cease to amaze me
Blawharag 277 Share Posted November 24, 2011 When you say spirits you mean... Major Spirits? I.E. the ones of rage, vengeance, hate, love, happiness ect.? Because I generally here the spirits refered to as all three aspects and then those I listed above being the "Major Spirits" or the "Immortal Spirits" as I like to call them (because "Major" carries the implication that they are greater than the other 2 aspects. Immortal instead implies that they are the only spirits that do not suffer the passage of time and life, where as the elements can vary as ages come and go, rocks erode, fires burn and quench, Ice melts and reforms ect. And the Ancestors are those who have passed on from their mortal shell and by definition cannot exist without having died first). I never intrude upon the world of the Immortal Spirits when meditating. Such a world has no physical existence and would baffle the minds of those who must imagine things in a physical manner to the point of insanity. Those of you who enjoy Dragon Age might consider it the Fade, but without the benefit of your imagination forming things into objects in order to make sense of them. Only a true master of the Immortal Spirits, one who completely and totally understands their existence could possible think to bring himself to that plane. In such a case this master might even begin to suffer from aloofness of the elemental realm where everything is determined by a rigid structure and the Immortal Spirits are caged inside life forms that serve as their vessels. Instead of going to their realm, I bring them inside me, using meditation to go inside myself and speak to those spirits which are either present within me, or that I have called/am calling to me. This is how I balance the spirits and preform the "Calm Storm". Now the Ancestors is a different matter entirely. The realm of the Ancestors is one that we can very easily understand, however should not enter. Those strong and valorous warriors who proved their greatness in life and have moved on in death are the ones who earn their place as Ancestors. Those are the ones who may journey to that sacred land and stand beside Krug, Bein, ect. The for a living to step into that realm before they have proven themselves in life and passed into that realm naturally in death would be a terrible insult to the Ancestors. Communicating with the Ancestors is one things, but stepping into a world you have not earned your place in is like telling the Ancestors that you are better than them. Krug's wrath would be so great that he would obliterate you, body and soul. Your very name would disappear from the history books and none would be able to recall you or your deeds. You and your legacy would be wiped out wholly and entirely for your insolence. Even if you ARE a great warrior and will one day go to that realm, you must not enter before your time has come. Finally we have the realm of the Elements. Don't need to meditate to step into that realm. You just need to open your eyes.

Lexperiments 18 Author Share Posted November 24, 2011 Yes; the three types of spirits are Ancestors, the ghosts of the past, the Major Spirits, which are near-godly, and the Elementals.
Blawharag 277 Share Posted November 24, 2011 The Immortal Spirits are the aspects of humanity (I do not mean that in the racial sense). These are spirits such as Rage, Vengeance, Hate, Love, Forgiveness, Tranquility ect. They do not take forms but rather take up residence within people and living beings. Spirits like Rage and Hate can give you great and terrible strength, while spirits of Tranquility and Determination might give you focus and a sharp mind. They are a very dangerous and Volatile field however and must be treaded upon lightly because they tend to fester and grow when lying within a living shell. Some prefer to balance these spirits by giving them outlets, war for Rage or hours of long study for Determination. Blawharag (who, unlike a majority of shamans prefers to study and meditate on Ancestors and Immortal Spirits while knowing almost nothing about the elements) has a unique and effective method at balancing the Immortal Spirits which he calls the "Calm Storm". He teaches it to those whom he takes on as his apprentices. He is yet to find someone he actually cares to take on as an apprentice however.
Lexperiments 18 Author Share Posted November 24, 2011 To add onto what Blaw said, they are spirits with names and aspects; for example, there is Donuur, spirit of Strength and Valor.

Ned Lud 1260 Share Posted November 24, 2011 When me was young uruk, me used to help momo wit her natural remedies. And by help, me mean dat me was da one klomping snakes and spiders on head wit stick and tasting da mushrooms, make sure dey not poison. She knew many cure and anti-venom from tings scavenged in da wilds. Maybe if lat can find da equipment for brewing, and me can find da rare materials from wilderness, me might be able to make some of dem. Gon' take time to remember da right proportion though. DecoLamb 959 Share Posted November 24, 2011 I feel like all our current shamans need to have a little sitdown and iron out things a bit. Me mogroka and blaw were all sitting and chatting the other day and a lot of things came up, and while the idea was to remain loose, which I do like, I feel like we need to work together to update our part of the wiki and the like, fill it in and make it more appealing for new players to go orc. Right now orcs seem unpolished and dulled, when they are not. Orcs are a lot of fun with a lot of history, lore, and quirks I really think we need to mark out for people. Shamanism especially. c_h_r_i_s121 20 Share Posted November 27, 2011 To be fair, most of the information about shamans is dotted about in the forums. Its just a matter of collecting it and compiling it into one section on the wiki.
