We’re back. (Also about rollbacks + crashes)

These screenshots are from earlier today; I think it’s fair to say that LotC is now officially back to it’s prime. Now that we’ve recovered back to our old popularity, it’s time to take it up a notch and move beyond it. Let’s push for 300 online, then 350, then 400, and so on and so fourth until minecraft can no longer handle our epicness.

P.S. Since we are running a pretty buggy dev. build of 1.0.0, bugs are excepted. We were going to hold off until an RB was out, but there’s no RB scheduled until JANUARY of 2012. To prevent some of the whiplash of the crashes, rollbacks, and issues that come with dev builds we’ve made a few changes.

1. I’ve added an automatic player data saver that syncs all player information up every 20 seconds. You can manually sync your data whenever you want using /save. This means if there is a rollback, your inventory, minas, and skill levels will be maintained. Only the environment will have the possibility of rolling back.

2. I’ve written a perl script to automatically detect this stupid crashes and reboot the server as soon as they occur. So if you get a random “Automated restart” kick, that means the server had a read time out, but my script detected it and reacted. If my script detects it, there will be no rollback.

We’re working to find better solutions for these issues, but these are my sloppy fixes for the time being.

regarding /save

Is it too late to get my lost items in the final destruction of the Oren city?

regarding /save

Is it too late to get my lost items in the final destruction of the Oren city?

I think the whole point of the attack is to weaken Oren by taking away many of the inhabitant's supplies.

Also, I think there should be an automated "Please vote!" message to remind players to vote. We are one of the most popular whitelist Minecraft servers, and with 250 players on at once, we should be up at first!

Hey Ultra, there actually is a message like that; but everyone has /togglevote on so they don't see it lol.

I tried that command. It wasn't recognized by the server. Perhaps you mean /toggletips, because everyone I know does have "helpful tips" off, but ideally the "You should go vote" reminder would be independent of that.

I tried that command, and it said "Voting reminders will no longer be displayed to you." And yet I had never seen them before. I repeated the command, and voting reminders began to appear (which I had never seen before). So... I would say the default setting for users is "off", but it said it turned it "off" when I went /togglevoting. Perhaps you could look into this? It confuses me.

Well if the servers auto crash fix is working it must be doing an amazing job.
