These are basically OOC terms that are able to be used IC. They were always there and if you change them up, that will confuse most people and they won't have the same purpose that their used for. You cant really change things in one place as people travel around a lot and definitely will spread to you in one way or another.

Thats the thing, I haven't changed anything. You're acting like I made all this up. People that I have RP'd with have been using the term seed like I described even before I played on the server. My character simply adopted it. "When in Rome, do as the Romans do," was the method my character followed.

If it confuses people, then well it'll just be RP'd out. I'm not going to OOCly arbitrarily change the way my character keeps track of time. There's alot of things characters don't get right and is confusing, but it makes for good RP. Our character's aren't perfect. They make mistakes, they adapt in ways you can't predict, and they have their own perceptions.

And it would be hard pressed to get the Council to change how they track time since their way works well enough. A character telling them, "you're not keeping track of time like everyone else..." will get a response like, "well our way is how we do it and it works."

If it makes everyone feel better. Yes we don't use the correct terminology for keeping track of time. We do it our own way. Same thing as the orcs speaking Blah, they do it because they like it. Try telling them to change. :P

I made my character 61 years old. Someone told me that meant I was six. No. It means I am still an adult. I am not six years old. If I need to make myself 161, then fine.

That is false, a 6 year old elf looks like a 6 year old human. A 10 year old elf looks like a 10 year old human. A 20 year old elf looks like a 20 year old human.

Though a 61 year old elf looks like a 20 year old human. Its about 16-20 is when an elf stops aging.

Now socially a 61 year old elf is like a 16 year old human. But that is because elven education typically takes 50-75 years (they're expected to learn much of their history and culture during that time). You're physically an adult, but other elves are going to treat you as an ignorant youngling.

Typically elves will begin their careers as either adventurers or otherwise at around 90-110.

Again elves also don't grow old, just weaker after 700. At that point their skin gets paler, their hair doesn't get white but will lose its vibrance. They will still look like they're in their 20s however, just tired.

A 900 year old elf will still look gorgeous/handsome to a human, but other elves will know they're on her last leg.

Times have changed though. Our young elves are growing up amidst this turmoil and take it upon themselves to journey out of Malinor while still as young as 40. There are many an uneducated elf wandering around Aegis now. The undead have dealt their worst blow and inadvertently sapped the wisdom from our people.

Hardly, too often I hear the blame being thrown at the undead for every fault. No one wishes to take their own responsibility. If the parents of said children kept them out of the turmoil and in their schooling, we would not be losing our collective wisdom.

There hasn't been an undead attack on Malinor in almost eight years. Its time to stop mourning over the past.

No, it isnt the fault of the undead, but the way the elves are educated here. Back in Inzaira we young ones needed to go to school from our 7th and we had to keep learning at school, at least until we were 20. And if you wanted you could go to the university. That way the Children were educated much faster, the rest of their education was more or less experience.

we seem immortal, because no one has seen a entire life of an elf, or at least a little bit from it.

I'm Glad I finally found some one who knows decent elven lore,

Iv been Reading Fantasy books for ages, and Elves were always my favorite and i took it upon myself to learn as much as possible, i might not know the language part yet but i'm getting there, But i Would Like to Add, Most Elf's are still considered Children For there first few Hundred years, Elves don't Base Judgement Like most Humans do. As was Explained. Schooling And Rights Of passage happen during these times. Most Older And Wiser Elf's think of most elves at 100 children. only after maybe the 200 year Mark is there right of Adult Hood. But After that An Elf Is judged not by age. But By wisdom. Wisdom is the key to Making the whole Even Society Respect you. Without it. You are Like a infant still. This is why i love the elven culture so much, there is so much detail and expansion on it over plenty of works and years of work.

I hope this helped some people with a little insight on elven culture.

OOC most definitely. Which is part of why my character has done so well in Laurelin. She has great (rather she portrays!) wisdom in her dealings. Elves don't mind when others make mistakes. But they cannot condone those that make the same mistake more then once. Learning from a mistake is a virtue, stubbornness is a horrible vice.
