Andromida

The three travelers were moving for days along the wastelands, the plains, and through the thick forests of the new world. Nothing mattered to them, not the kings, the politics, or the common folk. Their soft shoes would harden with each step, bringing them closer to their goal.

The goal seemed to stretch, wean, and expand with every breath much like a living being that for the first time stood on all legs, wondering around lost. The goal was the night sky, the soft blanket of darkness lit up by small speckles of dust that would gather in an unseen pattern, bringing beauty to the world.

They found a lost race, a lost culture in their journey. They were the nomads of the south, the nomads of the east, the nomads of the west. The travelers were accepted into their life, finding comfort in the tents set up every night under the starry sky, the moon and the creator himself.

No destination, no need. Nomads were nomads, the brightest star, brimming with gold and blue was their guide.

They nicknamed her, “Andromeda” a powerful name for a powerful light, which would lead them somewhere, to the holy lands, to the lands of power, to the lands of grace. They did not know where this lonely star would bring them, but they had nothing left to live for.

The civilized life had showed the travelers the distrust and distaste in the human politics, the human nation, and the human leaders. They brought with them the smell of death, distrust, and deceit, leaving a bitter aftertaste at the back of their throats. The nomads would pick this out, and in turn learn about the government of current, and take in every piece of information like sponges. Both peoples were teachers and students, bringing together the love and life of freedom.

Rebellion was thought of, harmonized and discarded. A new world changed that, a new world shaped their fates for themselves, handed their fates to them in a golden wrapped package as a gift. It was their new world, their new fate, and their new destiny. No more conforming, they would unite, not violently, but rather, independently.

Independence, like the gold and blue light in the sky, who drifted away from any of the other plain lights in the sky, making them seem dead and lifeless, fake. The only lights that would fit close enough to this solitary light would be a ring of three stars, each a fiery red. “They are the stars of fire, of blood, and of passion,” Said the nomads in a thick accent to the pale travelers, eyes glimmering like black onyxes in the dark.

The travelers looked up at the sky, at the blazing red ring around the much bigger and bolder blue and golden light, “No, they are all these things but more,” The oldest of the travelers would say in a deep throated voice, “They are the ring of a crown, a government, a city, and all together a new life.”

Independence is a concept, a dying concept in the realm of men, yet one that was loved by all.

The travelers long lost their names, years of moving, of laughing, of pondering. Though they began to miss the old buildings they grew up around, the smell of freshly baked bread coming from the local bakery, but most of all pride in a home.

The nameless ones they became known as, forgotten long ago that once they were seasoned travelers, homeless and scared. Now they had supped at the table of hope, and drank with the carriers of love.

Though these nameless, grey with age, felt a need, a drive, and greed.

“A city, we will build a city.” Said the first, standing tall and stiff in front of the nomads, hands held out to the land.

“A nation, we will build a nation.” Said the second, hunched over the only flower growing in the harsh environment.

“A star, we will build a star.” The third spoke up without notice; surprise filled the faces of even his companions, causing a disturbance of the peace with a sickly quiet, as if time had stopped itself. “She shall be earthly bound, and we shall all be proud. She shall be named after our leader, Andromeda.”

The chieftain of the nomads, awed by the speech, and wisdom found he was walking up to the three nameless travelers, moving like a shadow, only highlighted by the bath of moonlight.

He would place a darkened hand on the shoulder of the first man, “Therefore, to keep your promise you will be named City.”

The chieftain moved to the second, offering his darkened hand to help him rise, “You will be named Nation.”

A soft, sad smile would spread along the face of the elderly chieftain, “And you my friend, you will be known as our King.” His moon-bathed arms were outstretched towards the third, glimmering a soft pale silver.

City and Nation would stand with the chieftain, each one bending their knees, gracefully, their heads bowed in a newfound respect.

King would only look at them in awe, a smile glimmering on his face,

“Rise, for the people of Andromeda do not bow.

We stand for being strong enough to spill the blood of our foes.

We stand for bringing the warmth and power of fire and light to our lands.

We stand for the passion of love, of pride, but most of all of independence.

The world will tremble before our gaze, our rule, and of our people. The best nation will be smiled upon by the creator himself through the eyes of the sky, and loved by our unearthly guide, from whom we named ourselves.”

They all rose, the people, the travelers, and the nomads, all of them united.

“Our colors will be blue, gold and red, to present Andromeda and her followers,” the King would announce, his voice rich and bold.

“City and Nation will build their namesake, and we shall prosper.”

Andromeda would wink back at them as the sun would slowly rise, causing the light to flood among the man who called himself king. She shifted, raising herself above his skull, causing an unnatural halo of light, of blue and gold, surrounded by red.

The whole sky seemed to rejoice in the birth

Of new blood,

Fire,

And passion.

All of which was to grace the earth in sky’s wake, in their independence.
