A Song For Aegis

We fled from what we feared the most,

As the Undead army drew ever close,

Death indiscriminate to race and age,

Tainted souls blinded with rage,

We watched as the fires burned our village,

And the black of heart set off to pillage,

We watched as the blades pierced our flesh,

And our ears filled with screams of anguish,

The home we knew as the land of Aegis,

Is now but a story for the ages.

Ships of all races and nations gathered,

Differences aside for all that mattered,

Departure from this land torn asunder,

Warriors rallied, through rain and thunder,

Allies and foes alike, sword and shield in hand,

A united Aegis, her final stand,

To enter the Nether, a war with Iblees,

Clashing swords in a song of symphonies,

A song we'll sing, the might of Aegis,

A song for bards to be sung for ages.

The seas were wretched, thunder and rain,

Echoes of men writhing in pain,

Time drifted by like a wandering soul,

As hunger and illness took its toll,

The ultimate end we sought to refrain,

Fruitless endeavors; Death cometh again,

Many lives were lost upon this voyage,

So take a moment, we pay thee homage,

The great land we once knew as Aegis,

Raise our glasses, a toast for ages.

Thrusting through the roaring waves,

Months replaced our count of days,

We would eventually come upon,

The ancient land of Asulon,

Wrought with famine, monsters and earth unknown,

Were we to settle and call it home?

A hostile, strange, yet tranquil place,

Of rivers and mountains filled with grace,

Let us sing our song and turn the pages,

As life moves on, so fades our Aegis.
