Out-Of-Character:

Minecraft Account Name:

simplyskyler

Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?:

I'm afraid I haven't. I'm fairly new to Minecraft as both a game and a community.

How old are you?:

I am 20 years old.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

I am a citizen of the United States of a America.

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

Yes, I would like to think that I have a good grasp on English.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

If I had to describe myself in two words, it would be curious and cautious. I'm the guy who likes to learn for the fun of knowledge but is smart enough to know what killed the cat.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

Currently I spend quite a few hours every day online. I am starting up a job, but I doubt it will influence my play time too drastically.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.:

I haven't yet had the opportunity to immerse myself in a true roleplaying community but it hasn't been for lack of trying. I see roleplaying as a sort of verbal joust, the epitome of the pen versus the sword. Unfortunately, every community I attempt to immerse myself in fails spectacularly at actually attempting to roleplay.

In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are.

I will admit that I cheated a bit here and had to look it up. I've never stuck with a roleplaying community long enough to actually learn the terminology, mostly because I was a bit sickened by the large lack of actual roleplaying in the games I tried.

Metagaming: The use of ANY sort of knowledge your character really should NOT know. That's really the best I can do for describing it. Examples include information obtained while OOC, information obtained from previous characters played with no relation to your current character, etc.

Powergaming: Say a Bandit is waylaying an unsuspecting Victim. Bandit starts off the RP with something like "I shoot an arrow from behind you and hit you in the head." Automatically suggesting that his attack would be successful and implying that his victim is dead is a form of powergaming. Something less extreme would be say a bound prisoner saying "I work at my ropes and manage to get the off. I sneak away unseen." Use of absolutes in roleplay situations and attempting to always come out on top generally give your roleplaying the feel of powergaming.

What do you expect this server will be like?:

I can't say what I will expect but I can say what I can hope for. I hope that the server is the community I'm looking for. I hope there is little to no OOC conversations and I hope that it pushes against the boundaries of Minecraft enough to warp it into a new world for me.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

Roleplaying Servers? None. I've spent time on prison servers, vanilla servers, creative servers, etc. I'm a big fan of trying everything out and I look for the best in the areas I'm looking for. I'll be honest: this seems to me to be the most serious roleplaying experience I've seen yet. I never actually leave a server unless it seems ridiculous. The more I like a server, the more time I'll spend on it. Currently, most of my time is spent on 100% Vanilla.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

Yes. Though I do admit I'll probably have to re-read the ones pertaining to towns and whatnot a few more times for it to really sink in.

How did you hear about us?:

Minecraft-Server-List.com

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?

No, I have not. I can and will should I be accepted, however.

What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?:

Kayde North

In-Character:

Character Name:

Kayde "North"

What is your Race?:

Human

Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Kayde is a young man of twenty-two from a small village in the Kingdom of Salvus. His early childhood was peaceful but ...in the end the quiet life was not for him. He became passionate about learning and knowledge after a wanderer showed him sleights of hand he had called magic and wove tales of other worlds and of races with power unimaginable, like the Ascended or the Undead. Kayde left his village in search of knowledge at the young age of sixteen despite his parent's please for him to stay. His adventures as a wanderer took him far and wide, his main source of income only that gained from the work he could find in his travels...legitimate or illegitimate. For the most part, Kayde is curious and cautious, cold and callous, though he has an aggressive streak as wide as a river. He will not hesitate to attack should the situation demand it. His appearance is remarkably average in almost every way: he is of average height with light skin, black eyes and reddish-brown hair. The name "North" is actually a pet name his parents gave to him as a child for his cold demeanor. Kayde grew to like the name and eventually took it as his own while on his travels.

Your characters ambitions:

Kayde's ambitions are simple: he wishes to explore the world for knowledge. He doesn't care what it is or how useful it may actually be to him, his ultimate goal is learn everything that he can about the world and its inhabitants.

Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do?

Unless the bandits took some sort of aggressive stance to Kayde, Kayde would most likely not help the elf. Unless of course the elf seemed well enough off that Kayde might be able to make something from helping him. The bandits, on the other hand, would most likely not appeal to Kayde as anything other than a target: those who stoop to banditry often have little to offer in the ways of knowledge or gratitude. There would be nothing to gain from them but the items off their corpses. Should Kayde help the elf, he would most likely used ranged attacks from a bow to even the odds.

Your character walks up to a shop in a quiet market. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer?

Kayde has little time for pleasantries or even often the basics of civilization. The quiet of his wanderings has grown to suit Kayde and he is quick and to the point with all of his conversations. Kayde would most likely reply only with what he needs from the shopkeeper.

See the attached picture.

Other Information:

I'm rather new to minecrafting and roleplaying as a whole. I am fluent, however, in the English language and am well-read in all sorts of fantasy novels. I am attempting this with a calm and cautious person because it is closest to my own personality and his own coldness is more for a way to ease myself into roleplaying. Being cold and quiet allows me the opportunity to speak as little as possible while I'm getting used to it, really.
