Asbrind 29 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Nope. We'll still use their authentication servers, people will still need minecraft account. Cool.. Just wanted to check :)

Broski 54 Share Posted February 18, 2012 I would like to see new things, but changing a lot would make the game more laggier at some point. Minecraft laggs at most laptops so keeping as much of lagg out of it and maybe even bring improvements for lagg to minecraft, that would improve the gameplay a lot seeing as not everyone has or wants to spend the money on a new PC. everblue2er101 906 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Personally, I'd like to see this. I'd donate more to make it happen, even. BUT, it needs to be very well done to happen. Not that I'm saying it wouldn't be, but if it is in any way difficult to use, causes lag or anything similar, then lots of people won't want to. I also know that a lot of new players don't like having to add mods to play on servers.

They wouldn't add any mods, they'd download a .jar file that would run independently of minecraft, it would even save its files to a location other than %appdata%/.minecraft

Priest Bryce Grimson 5 Share Posted February 18, 2012 I am all for it! However, I think it would stop the ammount of applicants. They are here to play minecraft and if we (you) create a independent game, it would stop the ammount of people applying for the server. Just a thought
Snake Plissken 637 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Plz do this, installing a new launcher is so simple that it's completely overshadowed by what we could do with modded clients.

Just a thought It is Minecraft, but perfected for the sake of RP, it's like downloading spout for a large server, you get good things with effort, it's just with this, you'd be getting the equivalent of a basket of muffins, smothered in Nutella, with choc chips, marshmallows, hundreds and thousands, and Neko's Ass <- Jk. For next to no effort.
CosmicWhaleShark 2488 Share Posted February 18, 2012 The only concern I have is that my mac is a 10.5.8 and does not have the upgrade for 10.6. While working with Hawk on his modpack he came to the conclusion that macs with 10.5.8 software cannot use the mods within his modpack. However 10.6 can, I was wondering if this .jar file would allow the 10.5.8 macs to run it or would we all have to purchase the upgrade?

Acornlad 206 Share Posted February 18, 2012 1.) Download a file. 2.) Run it. 3.) Click "Play LOTC". 4.) You're done. How do I "Run" a file. Just double click it?
