A Call To War

*High Constable Valen Blackaxe stands before the Peacekeepers and begins speaking.*

"'ail lads, if yer 'aven't 'eard, t'e Black Cross 'as decided ter march upon Renatus wit' t'eir allies. As Salvus is an ally of 'anseti, we will be goin' wit' 'em. Our reasons fer t'is are t'at despite bein' told not ter attack 'anseti back in Aegis, t'ey continued and only stopped when t'e coalition chose ter intervene. Our 'ope is t'at t'is attack will act as a warnin', should Renatus be plannin' anyt'in' similar in t'e future.

All Peacekeepers are expected ter meet up at t'e Barracks in an Elven day ((Tomorrow, between 3PM and 4PM EST)) and from t'ere, yer will be supplied wit' armour, weapons and food. All member of t'e Salvus Militia and anybody 'o is fit ter fight will also be allowed ter come wit' us."

*Fiddling with his Arrow, he glances up at The Speaking Man from his stable position, tilting his head, lightly.*

"Aye, doth thy time besuit you men? Then I shall too, take up arms with brethren I have not face, and ready thine eyes upon horrors besieged of war." *-He thinks to himself while putting his arrow back in his quiver.*

*Nodding to himself, he silently travels back to his Safe-House in Salvus.*

Lads, t'e fortress at Das Boot 'as been defeated and we and our allies 'ave emerged victorious! Drink ale and celebrate while ter peace lasts!

War, we are sure Salvus was not founded on war. We give a quote that use to be what Salvus stood for "With this additional space, we will continue to grow and live our lives in peace, separated from those who would seek to do each other, and their own populations, harm." Clearly, if this is what Salvus use to stand for then the Salvus we look at today is the same as a group of bandits, un-trustworthy, and deceitful. The poor are neglected and now a war that the nation is ill equipped for and under prepared for is something we will not stand for! You can expect to be hearing from us soon.

Salvus will be Reborn!

*Raises his hands in order to quell the clamour.*

Quiet down, quiet down. We are a nation built on peace, we as a nation do not start wars, we do not initiate attacks. You call us deceitful, yet we have an alliance with Hanseti and we were called upon as per the treaty states, that in times of war, if we are called upon to help our brothers in the south, then we would mobilise an force to aid them. We stood by this agreement. I wouldn't call that deceitful.

We did try having a weak military before, when the nation was first established, but what became of that? Constant bandit raids, men from Renatus coming and attacking our innocent people. This has caused us to bolster our military. For without a force to defend ourself against raiders our nation would have crumbled by now.

*Looks around at the group of people*

If you are trying to sow seeds of doubt in the peoples mind, if you are trying to conspire against the nation, then I fear you have become what you think you are trying to prevent.

*Lowers his arms as he finishes speaking. His clear sharp eyes penetrating his silver hair, as he remembers how the old nation of Oren was torn appart by disent and unrest.*

Josef is in Salvus doing... official business... when he sees the man speaking. He listens, staying back from the crowd. He grins to himself and thinks.

Peaceful nation? Really... that is why they marched to war. Oh, sure, they have an alliance with Hanseti, of course they do, everyone does these days. Of course, in these times such an alliance should be reconsidered if Salvus knows what is best for them. Will Hanseti stop matching if Renatus falls, or will they continue north to reunite the Humans? Will the nightmares of those who saw the Black Cross march into Al'Khazar become reality, if Hanseti takes Solace?

Peacekeepers, they call their military. If keeping the peace requires going to war, then their title is accurate. If not... then they are no longer a peaceful nation.

Josef heads off quietly and goes into an empty shop. Quickly taking parchment, quill and ink he organizes his thoughts and scribbles them down. Before leaving the city without being noticed he drops pieces of parchment of at various houses, shops and along the main roads.
