Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name:

Jakar_Windsailor

How old are you?:

18

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

(UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

Yes I do. English is my first language, and I am in my freshman year of college.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

I am outgoing, creative, and enjoy gaming. I especially play a lot of minecraft, and RP servers are my favorite kind.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

I could be on at every day during the week for about 2-3 hours a day. I'm usually busy on the weekends, but I still like to hop on the computer between events.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:

Roleplay is exactly what it sounds like: playing a role. You create a character and basically live as that character in-game. You make decision like that character would and interact with others within your characters personality.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:

I have been on several minecraft Role Play server, including one that was hosted by the Yogscast.com staff (it has been shut down) , and A somewhat private server I still like to get on with friends.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:

It is the use of your relationships in real life to get ahead on other players. For example, I could ask an in-game ally in real life for information he has on a foe in-game, rather than in a roleplay setting, which could take longer.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is:

It is basically role playing your character to be a dominating force in the game, and even making up abilities or powers to get ahead on foes. For example, if I were playing cops in robbers as a kid, and I was about to catch my "robber" friend, he could say "I put up a force field!" and evade my handcuffs. It's simply not fair! I would then run to my mom and cry about it, because that's how I roll. (all kidding aside, nobody likes a cheater.)

What do you expect this server will be like?:

I expect rich, deep roleplay (obviously), fantastic builds, interesting lore, and the forging of great friendships. I also look forward to be a part of a strong community.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

As far as roleplay servers are concerned, I use to play on the Yogiverse RPG server before it was shut down. It was a very fine server, but it was constantly flooded with exploiters and crooks, and had to be shut down. A few friends from the server stuck together and made a somewhat private server of our own. I've also played on the Evocatus server. It is a fun PVP server with many good plugins. I still play on that one, but I may decide to tone it down and make more room for LOTC, if I am accepted.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

Yes, I have.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:

Yes, I do.

How did you hear about us?:

I heard about Lord of the Craft from a user on the Yogscast.com forums.

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?:

No, I haven’t. Minestatus is a bit odd on my personal browser.

In-Character:

Character Name:

Jakar

What Race are you?:

Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Jakar grew up only with his parents in nameless planes on the edge Asulon. He was very sheltered as a child, unable to travel beyond the plain, as ordered by his parents. His duties included gathering seed for sowing, brush for making fires, and cleaning the house. These are the only duties his parents entrusted to him. Jakar was odd in his parent's eyes and not only because of his overwhelming enthusiasm, but because of his overbearing longing for adventure. He constantly stared at the horizon, and he constantly asked about the curvature of the earth.

"I want to beyond the plains!" he'd say in excitement,

"Jakar, there is nothing but pain beyond the horizon. We keep you here because we love you." rebutted his parents.

Although Jakar knew that the love his parents had for him was true, he'd always longed for adventure.

Jakar grew into a strong, handsome, and tall young man, standing at 6 foot 2. In the summer of hi 15th year he was trusted to hunt with his father, Rudin, and alone. He acquired great skill with the bow and arrow. One day while hunting by himself, he came across a a creature he'd never seen before. It has tall, black, and it stared at him for as long as Jakar stared back. Its piercing violet eyes were too fierce to keep in contact, and Jakar looked away. As soon as he did the creature was within a meter, swinging its arms wildly at him with all of its strength. Jakar felt a courage that he'd never felt before as the creature approached. He grabbed an arrow from his quiver, jumped towards the creature, and lunged the arrow head between its eyes. The creature cried a terrible scream as it breathed its last breaths. When it lied dead it turned to dust, a fine purple dust that was brushed away by the winds of the plain. What was left was a shiny, green, and nearly transparent pearl. That night Jakar hid his findings in his chest.

At in the beginning of that fall, Rudin left for a trip to the closest village, which was a fortnight’s trip. The coming winter would be horrible, and they needed supplies to last the season. Rudin trusted Jakar to keep his mother, Eayown, safe while he was gone, and with that he left. One fortnight turned into 15 days, and from there 18. Jakar and his mother became worried.

"Mother, let me go look for him!" demanded Jakar to Eayown.

"Jakar, it is not safe for you! You have no knowledge of life beyond the plains!"

"Well let me gain that knowledge, and find my father. I cannot stay under your shelter for the rest of my life. I have to go."

"But you are not ready, Jakar."

With that Jakar ran to his chest and retrieved the pearl he'd attained from the beast.

"See this? I got it when I killed a tall beast that haunted my steps. I dropped it with an arrow and took this pearl from its dried corpse."

"Jakar! This is an Enderpearl! If you throw it, it will break against the ground, allowing you teleport where it shatters. When you search for your father, keep it with you. Yu may need it along the way. I will be safe here in the plains, you know that. Go and find your father, Jakar."

And with his mother's blessing, Jakar left in search of his father. He left the plains for the first time, keeping the pearl close to him.

Jakar is now 25. His mother had died of old age, and although he had never found his father, Jakar believes that one day he will see him again in either this life, or the next. For now he devotes himself to learning everything about the world he was sheltered from as a boy. He keeps the pearl with him, and he had never used it before. It reminds him of his past and of his family, but now it's his time to adventure, and that is what he will do.

What is your Character's ambitions?:

They are to explore all the lands and waters of Asulon. Adventure is what drives him.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):

His favorite tool is the bow. He uses it the most on the hunter, and in combat.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?

He is a very good runner, and can run with ease through most terrain. He is a skilled fighter and hunter as well. His fighting style is unorthodox, as he combines melee with sword, arrow, and bow at short distances.

Other Information about your Character:

He is a very funny character, and not everyone understands his humor, which tends to get him in a lot of trouble.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

He would likely throw a well-aimed stone, hitting one of the warriors across the head forcing their attention from the elf. When facing a combat situation he likes to stick to the shadows just before he attacks. After they wonder away from their previous engagement Jakar would spring into action using his skills with the sword, arrow, and hand to hand combat he'd learned in his many adventures. After finishing his business with the thieves, he would check on the halfling to see if he/she is ok, and carry on about his business.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

He would likely respond in a rushed tone saying:

“If you sell neither food, nor clothes for my back I am not interested. Pots and jewelry serve no use to me.”

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Upon seeing the ores, he would likely ****** them up. He would never pass up an opportunity such as this, especially if the hut is abandoned. He would pass on the sword, as gold is a soft metal and he is no paladin.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

He would take a pause and analyze the state of the place and people, wondering if he could trust them. If he can, he would respond:

“Hello friends. I am weary of travel, my feet need lifting, and food would not hurt. What can I pay you to rest in your camp?”

If he could not trust them he would extend a short hello, and try to move on to scavenge for food in the wild. He is a good hunter, as his father taught him well on the plains.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Jakar would never pass up an honest reward. He would address he officer and hunt for the bandits.
