Battleme33 196 Share Posted February 23, 2012 You didn't HAVE to leave, you could have stayed and people didn't care if you left or not you tryed to overthrow Thorik and lost and people disliked you but you were so old you could have stayed if you chose to. I will welcome you back IG if you want I don't care but if you do come back you should at least try to get some of the members who left with you back as well. Destroyer_Bravo 1054 Share Posted February 23, 2012 Well most have or gone pirate. Destroyer-bravo is the only one left I think. ((I'm the only Irongut in Holm, and I'll take control of Overholm and try to build a railway/get Navy to sail a boat to Karik to have quicktravel between us and Karik.)) Grabthar 185 Share Posted February 23, 2012 ((The hard part about making Dwarves realistic in RP, is the fact that Dwarves are not a social race. If we base LotC dwarfs on all others throughout literature, they would only RP with themselves and any others that came to them. If you wanted to interact with other people... don't be a dwarf. But in order for this to work, mining would have to be a race specific skill. Anyone could dig stone, coal and even iron, but only dwarves could gather diamond and gold. That way if you wanted the best tools and weapons, you HAD to visit the dwarves for it. IC wise it would be a pain, but realistically that's how it should be. I don't see this happening since the player base of non dwarves would throw a hissy and rage all over the place. As far as wars go, dwarves would not care what ANYONE else did. Only joining wars that attempt to attack their own capital. Defenses would be improved, treasure would be hoarded, and we would socially cut ourselves off from everyone except those buying from us. Our numbers would go way down, but the RP would be true and realistic for dwarves.))

Battleme33 196 Share Posted February 24, 2012 I really like your idea Grabthar the rp would be amazing but the playerbase would rage and it would never happen =(. We need to get our numbers back up, we were so strong and busy back in Aegis but now everyone is gone for either pirating or holm, makes me sad ='(
Phelrin 60 Share Posted February 24, 2012 I agree with you Hiebe, I want to see Karik filled with Dwarves, we might be able to work something out IG but I don't know and without forcing people to come back I doubt many will just pack up and come back. Maybe we could have a council meeting or something, I really would like to see everyone come back. EDIT--Remember Heibe you left as well and took a lot of people with you, also a lot of people who didn't leave became stupid pirates with YOU when you decided to become a pirate, remember that as well so some of this is actually your fault. Just so you know, none of the Dwarves who left to become left because Hiebe did. I'm leaving because I want a different kind of RP ((The hard part about making Dwarves realistic in RP, is the fact that Dwarves are not a social race. If my pirate VA never gets accepted, I will be in Karik RPing as such a Dwarf. Hopefully there will soon be incentives to RPing with the Dwarves. Even if we can't get something drastic like enchantment, I hope that we can make the Dwarven RP so enjoyable that people will flock to us just for the experience of it

But seriously I had stayed with Karik/Kal'Urguan for around eight months aside from being a bandits for a little while. In karik when I decided to be a pirate I didn't enjoy the role play and the dwarven nation had nothing to work towards. I felt like I was obligated to stay just to help Karik improve, until I finally almost quit the server from boredom and nothing to do. What Broski and you guys are doing has a lot of potential and I may resume playing a dwarf on my alternative account. But for now my alternative account is a human if I can get a race change I'll be back as a new character. Broski is doing an amazing job as King along with Battleme and Bazian. Just keep up the good work. Making a central hub in the city that attracts players and creates a central area of role playing in Karik is what could save us. Also Brent there is definitely more than two people no need to overreact.]]

Cracker 4570 Share Posted February 25, 2012 (( Hmmm... What if instead of Dwarves being the only ones able to mine diamond + gold, they are the only race which can enchant? You could have it so enchantment, alchemy (and I guess a few other skills) would be limited to a particular race. It's a bit less drastic then the ability to mine. Still won't happen, but an idea. It would be really hard to RP a dwarf that is solely underground. We would need a LOT to do in the city to keep us solely down there, and I think half of the current dwarves just wouldn't be able to handle it. Unfortunately it's hard to make true dwarven rp exist without making it boring...people want to adventure and have fun, not hide in an underground city..if only there was a compromise, or a way to make it fun At the moment, for me anyway, RPing as a city dwarf is very hard...it's more of a job then somthing you enjoy. I envy the pirates, they have a simple and fun lifestyle, but the nobility and Karik-livers are constantly at work trying to improve the kingdom. There has got to be ways to make it more fun)
