Fantasti's Journal

Many days have past since I left the wilds seeking protection of a town or city that I could finally call home, yet I persevered and my patience paid off. I arranged a house viewing with Lord Nairog of Winterfell and after deciding on which house to purchase I was ready to move and here is where my Journal begins.

Day 1:

I awaken after the most peaceful slumber i have ever had, the walls of Winterfell gave me such a feeling of security that I have never been blessed to have witnessed. I cook myself some pork for breakfast, which is still a habit from my life in the wilds. Then I head out for a brief walk around the town. It is quiet and the mornings are bitterly cold, but this is refreshing to me as I haven't experienced such mornings since I got lost in the wilds many years ago. I decide to warm myself up by doing some community service and clear the roads of snow, it was a grueling task but that was one way to warm yourself up! I spent the rest of the day crafting tables and organising my possessions.

Day 2:

I was out for another walk today and I noticed I had not seen the Lord since I bought the house. I remember his saying that Winterfell need guards so I presumed that he had headed south to find some willing men and women. I love how peaceful it is up here compared to the bustling city of Alkhazar.

Day 3:

I decided to retrieve the rest of my possessions which I had stored in a house I built outside Alkhazar, the walk was long and as I neared my destination I began to see the sun set in the sky. I made my way through he door and as I went to go down stairs I noticed the wall around my door was damaged! I always made sure to lock the door so the intruder must have went through the wall. I went to my room to check that all my possessions remained, which they did (praise the gods). I decided to spend the night and head out at daybreak.

Day 4:

I decided to leave the bed, furnace and workbench behind just as a rest home if I was near the capital (not to mention that i had more than enough to carry back to Winterfell!). By the time I got back home I was exhausted and dumped my equipment and possessions on the floor downstairs and headed straight to bed.

Day 5:

Along with clearing the roads in Winterfell I also do gate duty from time to time and today I had the most interesting visitor. An elf! yes I was shocked to say the least, an elf this far north is almost unheard of. We had a pleasant chat and he told me that he was a trader and that he was also seeking a home in Winterfell. I let him know that the Lord was not currently here (Maybe he is on vacation and is on a beach somewhere) and he then suggested a trade agreement between Winterfell and Laurelin. I was unsure as to the implications of such a thing as I am no merchant but if it helps Winterfell it can only be a good thing. I made a note of this to tell the Lord upon his return.

Day 13:

Today i was greeted by several new arrivals in Winterfell. The Elf I mentioned earlier bought a house close to me and is thinking of setting up a smithy to supply the Guards. Speaking of which there was also two new arrivals into the Watchmen; Vance and Cataris, is what i believe they are called although my memory is rather foggy.

Day 17:

I was heading down towards Alkhazar when i heard a voice shout "Die Mortal!" followed by several lightning bolts I managed to escape but not unscathed as i had a searing pain in my left arm and leg, perhaps i was hit by the lightning. After I out ran the Undead i mustered my courage to head to the highest mountain i could see as to find out what was going on. What I saw was carnage. The heavens shook as constant forks of lightning decimated parts of Alkhazar as I watched the fire burn i made my way to the Northern Gate. For all the carnage i had seen the Northern Gate was rather quiet but as i made my way into the Entertainment district I saw hundreds of Zombies swarming towards me. I was still injured but I wielded my sword and donned leather armor in a hope of holding the horde back long enough for reinforcements to arrive. It wasn't long before they arrived, Guards of Oren and countless other private army soldiers such as the Templars and Holmes fended off the onslaught as best they could.

Due to my injuries I went seeking some first aid but there were no supplies available and in the chaos that was unfolding finding a medic was looking unlikly. As i headed deeper into the city all I could see was death and carnage as hordes of Zombies and Several Giants ran amok. I made my way towards the church and saw that there was a large number of Zombies bearing down on it. I yet again charged in flawing my sword hoping to deter them. I noticed the High Priest standing at the door of the church trying to rally men to him. From what I could see he was unarmed and would be in mortal danger should the zombies get past me. I was forced to make a stand, I swung my sword in arcs dealing as many wounds to the advancing Zombies as I could as the bore down upon me, I was crowded there was no longer any room to swing my sword I could see Guards rushing towards the mass of enemies as I felt myself slipping out of consciousness as the horde tore at my flesh. I awoke at the temple with monks treating my wounds. I heard of other men say that they were killed holding the keep; I knew things were looking grim. As soon as the monks had tended to me I sprinted out of the temple and towards Alkhazar as swiftly as possible.

When I finally got there i saw the carnage leading up to the keep. There was Zombies and Skeleton warriors everywhere I made my way up to the keep armed with nothing but my bear hands as i fought along side my fellow Winterfell comrade but alas we were out matched even the elite Guards were no match as creepers and Zombie pigmen were summoned right at the door to the palace. All i can remember is the squeals of Pigmen and the shouts of Men Dwarves and Elves to attack.

Day 18:

I wake at the Temple and begin the walk back towards Alkhazar. It is light now and I hear several people talk of the battle and how it was won. Although despite the joy I felt when I heard that the Great Wizard felled the Prophet and the Overlord as I neared the Capital I heard terrible news that the King was slain in battle, honorably fighting to the death to protect Oren from the undead, a befitting end for a King but it made our victory bittersweet indeed. As i entered Alkhazar you could see all the men, dwarves, elves and orks gathered some mourning the loss of the king and some celebrating the victory over the undead. I headed through the city towards the Northern Gate and could see the destruction that had been dealt in the attack. Some small remnant of the undead force remained and I gladly dispatched of them on my way as other citizens were sent to put out the fires from the lightning barrages. I headed back to Winterfell thinking of what more could have been done, if there was a warning sent out to Alkhazar. Where they ready to deal with an assault this big and if it could have been prevented.
