Peace At Last...

Amam Rashad strolls gently through the main gate of Renatus, swinging his gleaming gold staff as he does so. Humming to himself, he makes his way past the glorious Knight's Mansion, and toward the house of his old friend, Alvarius Kashi, to return some money he was lent the previous week. Upon reaching the house, he knocks thrice on the door with his staff and wait for a reply. None comes. Reaching into his pocket, Amam produces a small iron key, and delicately places it into the lock on the front door. He turns the key, and pushes the door open, stepping inside and calling out "Alvarius, are you home? I have the payment for you!" Again, no reply comes and Amam goes to place the bag of coins on the table. He takes it from his belt and reaches forward, before noticing a small note on the table, the wax sealing not fully dried. Not only this, but a quill lay still in a bottle of ink. Now this was very unlike his friend to do, Alvarius was a tidy man by nature. Out of curiosity, Amam picks up the note, and sees the words.

"My Dear Friends"

written onto the front. He opens the letter and reads quickly through it. His face loses most of its colour and Amam dashes upstairs, before falling to his knees next to the body of his old friend - cold and still in his bed. He takes up the letter and reads it again, slowly and carefully.

"My Dear Friends,

Though we all may act strong for the sake of our Kingdom, we are all still men underneath. We all still love, hate, grow old and die - we are all equal. It is with equality, therefore, that I speak to you in this final note before I go off to complete my list and fall asleep for the last time. Compared to having a sword thrust through you, dying of age is indeed quite preferable. But of course no one wishes to pass on. We all have things we would do, things we would see, people we would watch grow. But death waits for neither man, nor Kingdom, and my time here is done. To all those with great aspirations, remember that everyone starts out somewhere and works their way up. I remember the old days of Aegis when I was but a guard recruit, dong my time on the gate in Al'Khazar. When the world was on the verge of being destroyed, but no one knew. Ignorance truly is bliss, until you learn of the ignorance you suffered from. But of course you would rather this old man would end his ranting, and forget his memories. I am all too aware that my time is up, and so I shall do as you would have me, for the sake of being done before my life leaves me.

My time in Asulon, and indeed Aegis would have been all too difficult were it not for certain people who have helped me through this old life.

I would thank Hayden first, for he is the man who has helped me from Al'Khazar to here. Supporting me, and aiding me in all that I did. You made me a better person, a happier person.

Amam, you have treated me well in my old age, and looked after my properties when I have been unable to. You have remained faithful until the end, so I am leaving you in ownership of my country house and shop.

Nico, what can I say. I was never a politician by nature and would have failed all aspects of my job were it not for you. I am forever grateful.

Kings Tarus and Godfrey. You have looked after the Kingdom well. King Tarus, you brought excitement that many people needed, Godfrey you brought the peace we all desired. We could not ask for better rulers.

Lord Reynard Lycian, you looked after the Kingdom in its time of greatest need. You refused to let the foundation of this Kingdom slide and it takes a fool not to understand we owe you a great deal of thanks.

There are so many others I would thank if I could, but I cannot sit here forever...

I am leaving my city house on the possession of the Kingdom, to sell or use as they please.

The Kingdom's taxes are in a locked chest, to which Amam has the key. He will give you the money.

Stay strong Renatus, I will always have faith in you.

Lord Alvarius of House Kashi; last of his name, Knight and Minister of the fair city of Renatus."

After hearing of the Lord Kashi death, King Godfrey rushing to his house in disbelief looking at the crowd of family, nobles and banner-men, he hangs his head lower as he walks into the house. He walks upstairs slowly, as he nods to the other nobles gathered around the bed, there faces flashed with sadness.

He looks at the face of Lord Kashi, peaceful, bright or that is how he saw it.

He speaks gently but with a high voice, so not only the people in the house can hear but thous that are outside also.

''Those who have lived a good life do not fear death, but meet it calmly, and even long for it in the face of great suffering. But those who do not have a peaceful conscience, dread death as though life means nothing but physical torment. The challenge is to live our life so that we will be prepared for death when it comes.''

Our dear teacher and friend Lord Kashi accepted that challenge and overcome it.

He says this as he kneels and kiss's Lord Kashis forehead, he whispers. Only the ones around him can her.

Memories Will Comfort Until We Meet Again

Always Loved And Never Forgotten

Resting in Peace and Joy for all Eternity

At rest in the arms of God

There is no way to peace, peace is the way

Peace is the deliberate adjustment of your life to the will of God

His heart was pure and filled with joy

You passed through glory's morning gate and walked in paradise

You shall live in the hearts of those who loved you and will thus never die or be forgotten

Rest in peace, my friend my teacher.

As he walks out ordering a funeral to be held.

William follows his father to the home of Kashi, he hops from brick to brick of the stone road like he was playing hopscotch, carrying the blue silk blanket in his left hand. When he gets to the home of Kashi he looks around confused and whispered to Godfrey

"Papa, why is everyone watching the sleeping man!"

Royal Scribe Josef Timothee stands off to the side, as usual, with a quill and parchment, as usual, trying to stay neutral and record the events, as usual. All of this is far more difficult than usual. They were never close friends, but always strove towards similar goals. He has always seen Kashi as a pillar of the kingdom, one of the men who have dedicated everything towards it. He thinks about that to himself. "We will need not only a funeral, but a celebration of his life." Finding a few others he discusses it with them.

Lord Justice and Bishop Boiendl slowly makes his way over to the now deceased Lord Kashi. He walks slowly with his cane in one hand, for his own health is beginning to fail. He kneels next to the body and lightly whispers "May you rest in peace, and I am sure our paths will cross again once more." Boiendl then makes his way through the crowd as slowly as he entered. He leaves the home and slowly makes his way to the church, where he begins to prepare a funeral.

*Artorus is strolling the streets of Arethor. He then sees a large group of people, nobles and serfs alike, gathering at the front door of Alvarius Kashi's home. He asks a young noy, barely eight what has happened. "Minista Kashi's dead M'lord." the boy say's solemnly. Artorus, shocked by the new's pushes past the people at the door way and rushes up the stairs and there he sees him. Kashi's lifeless, yet peaceful looking corps. Artorus sighs and steps outside thinking to himself. "Rest in peace friend, you will be missed and honored by all...

Enters into the Home of Kashi behind everyone, brow raised as he hears the quiet and dreadful mourning upstairs. Fearing the worst, he steps up faster, pushing his way through some people until he sees Kashi's corpse. He frowns after that, and rubs his eyes a bit, in disbelief, in shock, in sorrow.

"Never had I had a finer man at my side, skilled in logistics, good with the people, a fine man and example to follow. Kashi has touched the lives of many nobles, he deserves his rest, I suppose. It'd be selfish of me to ask he stay only long enough I could of enjoyed the last moments he had with him."

Sighs, stepping out, frown worn across his face and wolf pelt flowing on his heavy shoulders.

*Magnus, in his robes of the Arcani, was with Godfrey as he said this. He weeped on the inside as this happened, but he knew he could not let his emotions betray him. Kashi was a great man, and it was a shame to see him pass.*

*frowns "I knew Kashi from Oren... From the guards... And from my heart; he was a good friend. May he reach the light as he departs from our world.

*moves quietly through the crowd and looks upon Kashi's peaceful form. He holds his head in reverance and whispers "Thank you my old friend, may you find eternal peace." He then begins to exit quickly and quietly.*
