Omithiel 192 Share Posted March 25, 2012 The TrueHammer Clan The Lore The TrueHammers was a prosperous clan in the younger days of Kal'Urguan. They were well-known as an honorable clan, not because of their skills but because of who they were, especially those of them who were great storytellers and song writers. Many of them had different trades. One in particular was Durin'Aurif, a promising Architect who rose up and became a lord. He was the first of the Truehammers to gain a title of nobility within the clan. After some time, Durin'Aurif was helping lead the building of the nation, and with this the Truehammer clan gained a much more respected reputation, until an event that would change all of this. An annual meeting for how the developement and future finances were going to be held within the year for the nation was called upon. It was Durin's first task as a lord to attend and state his opinion. There were many clans at this time, one in particular was the Ironknucklers, led by a very greedy dwarf by the name of Gurin'fal'lekuun, who was the King's second in command. In this meeting many spoke of their ideas, Durin especially, who wanted a prosperous future for the dwarves and bring new future projects that would ensure growth. After his opinion came the opinion of Gurin. Gurin stated that taxes should be higher since the treasury was low on funds and the dwarves were already sufficiently prosperous. He also stated that he wanted miners to give more ores to the Kingdom's storage, which was reasonable in a sense. The Ironknucklers owned the largest mining company, and Gurin (and his greed) was up to something. The council spoke and pit Durin's plan against Gurin's plan. The council voted, resulting in a tie. Gurin did not like the fact this new member was disrupting on his plan. Gurin who stood beside the king and was convincing him not to go with Durin's plan, telling him of how novice he is and how an architect would be inexperienced with finance. Durin saw Gurin in the corner of his eye while he was whispering to the king. Durin did not show any emotion for he didn't want to raise any conflict. Unfortunately Gurin's plan was chosen. As the council left Gurin smirked in Durin's direction. During the third month of the following year, the plans effect was becoming visible. You could see dwarves having to sell some of their belongings in order to continue living in the houses. Mining companies began to run out of buisness and the IronKnucklers were becoming quite rich. Some clans had to disband for they couldn't pay their annual fees. The Truehammers were getting by, barely, in spite of Durin being a lord. Things were going for the worst. One night a new member of the Truehammers, by the name of Ulinthal' Bilankrimm, was coming home after mining fairly late to gain some ore for the clanhouse. Ulinthal heard something very strange as he passed the storage in the mining hall. He came closer and stood by the door peaking inside. He saw with his eyes dwarves were taking ore from the storage. Before he was to call the guards he heard of them speak and from the conversation they were IronKnucklers. Ulinthal with caution rushed to the clanhouse immediately. When he got there he told Durin the news. Durin became angry and the next day went to the treasury to inspect the income of the nation. As he suspected it was increasing very slow. Durin now needed a plan in order catch Gurin in his crime. He needed the evidence and the only way was to catch his clan where Ulinthal met them. Durin planned to catch the Ironknucklers the next night. The next day, Durin was very anxious. Before nightfall, he waited minute after minute for the time to strike. Durin notified his clan leader who was his father Thul'Aurif of his plan, whom gladly agreed. The night came and Durin took with him members of his clan, one of the dwarves was a lookout who stayed within the main hall. Durin and his clanmates went within the mining hall and stood behind the storage chambers silently for a brief moment. They rushed in and found no Ironknucklers, but instead a pool of blood and a body. Durin was shocked when he realized it was a trap. At that moment Gurin, with guards of the king, stormed in. The clan and Durin were surrounded. Durin couldn't do anything except await his punishment, but what Gurin and the guards came for was not to arrest them for taking resources but for the murder of the King's son. Durin was enraged and charged at Gurin but was arrested on the spot including the other clansmen. The dwarf on lookout rushed to the Truehammer clanhouse to tell Thul'Aurif of the situation. Thul'Aurif was saddened and angered to hear of his son's capture. He ordered the clan to evacuate immediately. As the clan began to evacuate, guards began to march into the area and were going to arrest all members. Thul'Aurif grabbed the sacred jewel of the clan and rushed out. It was chaos; many of the clan members were arrested. Thul'Aurif and a dozen members escaped and went to hide within the clanhouse of ______. They were friendly and it's leader was friends with Thul'Aurif. Thul'Aurif, now with his dozen members, waited as they saw the TrueHammers falling apart. The execution of Durin and his clan mates commenced the next day, for the King was enraged and wanted his head. As they placed the stand in the courtyard of the city, the people gathered and were disappointed to see a Truehammer there, as well as other clans but one. As Gurin stood but only inches from Durin, he could not do anything for he was shackled with many cuffs. The King came upon the stand and looked into Durin's eyes in anger. Durin said he did not kill his son but in his position they wouldn't believe him. The King rose his hand, grabbed the axe from his back and swung at Durin. The other clan mates who were with him saw a similar end. After the execution the King spoke and commanded that the Truehammers were no more. Some in the crowd cheered while some were silent. That night the Truehammer hall was destroyed along with its history, its banner burned. Thul'Aurif was saddened for his son's life and his clan mates. He was also saddened to see fire coming from his clanhall where past memories of long past Truehammers dwelled. The clan members were silent as they sat with Thul'Aurif, including Ulinthal. Thul'Aurif started to breathe heavily; his son's death was getting to him. He started to become angry and wanted to kill Gurin right there and then. But he knew he wouldn't see to his revenge right now. If he wanted to avenge his son and his clan, he realized, he would need to wait for the right moment to confront Gurin and his clan. He talked with his fellow Truehammers of his plan. The fourteen of them, Awin, Fulin, Hagrikk, Ulinthal, Khazu, Durik, Balin, Auruuk, Taluun, Rurik, Ulin, Nori, Fulim, and Thul'Aurif, waited for the right moment to get their revenge and honor from the IronKnucklers. The Truehammers waited in the clanhall of their allies hoping for the right time to strike the IronKnucklers. One of the ______ told them that the IronKnucklers were going to hold a guild feast for the night. The opprotunity had arisen and Thul didn't hesitate to prepare especially for his guildmates. The night was to come and Thul would have his revenge and bring justice to the dwarves. As hours passed Thul'Aurif waited looking upon the stone he took from his Guildhall. He stared at it and then glanced towards his clanmates, waiting for the night to approach, each one fidgeting and sharpening their weapons. Thul'Aurif then turned his attention to Ulinthal and looked at him, for he had became a full-fledged member not too long ago. Thul looked upon him for a moment, he then got up and asked Ulinthal to step out of the hiding hall for a moment. Thul asked Ulinthal how he felt and his mind on the matter. Ulinthal said he was fine and was ready to take down those who killed his clan mates and bring down this evil. Thul chuckled and said good, but he told Ulinthal that he would not go. Ulinthal became surprised and refused his masters order. Thul said that he must and then presented him the spherical stone. Ulinthal could not believe his eyes and asked his leader why would he trust him. Thul replied that he didn't know but he saw something in him, and also that unlike the others they lost many good friends and family, and that he knew they would never accept the refusal and instead fight. He told Ulinthal that he had a son and that someone must carry on the clan. Ulinthal accepted for he took an oath for his clan and that was more important to him. He took the stone and Thul said that he would see him again. They both entered the hiding place and waited. The night came and The TrueHammers gave there thanks to _____. Thul'Aurif was prepared to face Gurin and the IronKnucklers. The Truehammers before they left began to say there ancient poem before they battle. Oh Truehammer, Oh Truehammer, Be swift and true, While we are few, Be bold and strong, When all goes wrong, Fly high and go sore, Like never before, We shall fight, This evil blight, For honor and tradition, For all our Dwarven kin, We shall hold with all our will, So fly now and strike hard! Oh Truehammer's hammer. The Truehammers then stormed out with their spirits on fire, they ran straight to the Ironknucklers clanhall to face Gurin once and for all. Thul'Aurif and his clanmates silently but swiftly paced themselves towards the clanhall of the Ironknucklers. Thul'Aurif, as he got closer to IronKnucklers, his mind passed him with images of his son and all his kin. He saw the days of when he was younger. Thul'Aurif smiled for a moment, he felt at peace, but in that brief moment of peace images of his son's death and of Gurin's evil passed through his mind. He knew that he would have to kill Gurin not because of his son's death but to fight and kill Gurin, for he let himself succumb to Urguan's curse. Thul'Aurif and guildmates arrived near the Ironknucklers guildhall and stood right outside their gate. Inside they could hear the Ironknucklers laughing and enjoying a feast of warm food and the clinking of ale mugs. Thul'Aurif shouted Gurin's name, in that instant it got quiet. In a few moments a few Ironknucklers came out, then more and more. Thul'Aurif and his clanmates were surrounded by all the Ironknucklers and it was silent for a moment. Thul again shouted Gurin's name and in the crowd Gurin slowly came out. Gurin was now face to face with Thul, he laughed and greeted Thul'Aurif with a large grin. Thul'Aurif simply said that he would kill him and told Gurin to prepare himself. Gurin laughed again and asked If he wanted to know what happened to his son. Thul said again for him to prepare to himself and that he will rid him of his greed. Gurin chuckled and said that his greed had nothing to do with it. Gurin said he wanted power. He continued to talk of how he knew of Durin's plan when he saw Ulinthal by the storage he also told him that me murdered the king's son to capture his throne, and with the poor economy the people would agree. Thul'Aurif was now certain that he would need to kill Gurin. He got into a stance and his clanmates did the same. Gurin laughed and fell into the crowd again and the Ironknucklers also prepared for battle. There was a moment of no movement and silence. In a quick instant the Ironknucklers attacked. The Truehammers were defending greatly as they were killing each of their foes though for how long. The battle could be heard throughout the city, many people began to draw near the scene. The Truehammers defended off more of the Ironkucklers till the Ironkucklers fell back. Thul'Aurif, tired, was smiling that he was holding out, until the city guard arrived and the situation now was hopeless. Gurin told the guards that they were trying to revolt against the kingdom and try to take him hostage. The cities defenses now with the Ironknucklers was overwhelming for the Truehammers. Thul'Aurif and his clanmates were trying to hold back as much as they could. He would glance to his clanmates and see their fatigue and some getting injured. He knew he would not be able to kill Gurin this way, he than asked his clanmates to protect him and that he had a plan. The clanmates continue to defend off the dwarves attacking them. Thul'Aurif kneeled down with his hammer upside down as his clanmates circled around him. Thul'Aurif began to chant the poem. As he was chanting he grabbed his hammer and looked around for Gurin and saw him watching the fight from a distance, he could see his smirk. As he was ending his chant, Thul'Aurif aimed it at Gurin's direction and threw it. Gurin, who was watching, could not see the hammer being thrown or the hammer itself; he was hit straight to the forehead and fell instantly. Thul'Aurif saw him go down and told his clanmates he got him. They all stopped and screamed in cheer as they were being cut down to death. Thul'Aurif in his final moments sighed in relief and was now ready to meet his son again. After that conflict the Ironkucklers were disbanded and exiled from the kingdom, the clan ______ who helped the Truehammers told the king of the truth behind Gurin and his plan to overthrow him. The king was in grief to hear this news for he was lied to and decieved. He began to renew the system of government and change many things that was caused by Gurin's deeds. Even though everything was turning for the better, the Truehammers were now gone, and through time even this story won't go down in history, for it made the King's power weak. Though some clans knew of what the Truehammers have done they would not discuss it to anyone. Through time these events were forgotten and the Truehammers story seemed as if it didn't exist. Ulinthal followed behind and than split to the other side of the city. He ran around the dark edges of the city to a good friend who took his son for a moment. Ulinthal went in and thanked his friend for her care. When Ulinthal left the house he was cloaked with him carrying his son. Ulinthal than walked somewhere that was secluded and dark. He was in thought and sat on a floor laying his back beside the wall. He had no plan what to do, for he had his son and the stone that Thul gave him. His thoughts fluttered and looked upon the floor without even knowing he was carrying his son. Ulinthal than felt the stone being grabbed out of his hand. He glanced to his son who was holding it. He chuckled and than paused look at him for a long moment. Ulinthal saw shadows passed by him and saw guards running towards where Thul went. He saw that it had begun and now was the perfect time for him to escape without being traced, but he couldn't take his son with him. He got up from where he was sitting and rushed to an Orphanage somewhere along the rim of the city. He knocked on the door heavily to get the attention of the owners. A dwarf opened the door and saw him. Ulinthal presented his son to the dwarf. The dwarf asked if he had a name. Ulinthal looked upon his son and began to hand him to the dwarf, and said his name is Omithiel. The dwarf grabbed Omithiel and nodded and was about to close the door, Ulinthal than pulled the plainless stone and asked the dwarf to hand it to him when he is older. The dwarf nodded again and took the stone and shut the door. Ulinthal paused and stared at the door for a moment and said goodbye to his son silently and also said that he will meet him again. Ulinthal than began to pace himself out of the city.
