So what shops are actually BUYING stuff?

I'm curious. So far i've only found like half a dozen shops. Most of them sold/bought nothing. Most of them sell iron and buy it for like 1/2 the selling price. I found one shop that bought bread (for about 1/4 what they sold it for) and I sold them some, but a couple days later they stopped buying that too.

Are there any shops that buy wood, dirt, cobblestone, sand, sandstone, bread, pork, etc. etc. etc. ? Or would nobody waste their money on that since they can just go out and find some?

Sure would be nice to find a shop buying some stuff, so I could make money as a merchant selling to business instead of trying to hunt down individual customers.

Usually for those common items, most people don't buy them since they can easily get their hands on those items.

In my shop I buy the ores because that is what is most profitable.

I've only found one shop buying iron, and they tend to pay like 15-25 a piece, but then turn around and sell them for 50-70. It's not my intentions to feed a reseller, but it would be nice to find a shop buying normal everyday stuff, like food or building supplies or armor or whatever.

My shop, The Open Quiver in Alkhazar, buys a few things such as feathers, gravel, arrows, leather and flint. And will also buy more when i can buy a larger shop, yes i do re-sell a lot of the stuff such as leather and arrows, and i craft the raw materials into arrows as well, but i think i offer quite good prices for these raw materials. Anyway come by my shop if you have any of the above mentioned items to sell

If you want to sell to a store, you are going to have to accept that you're acting as a wholesale provider, and the purchase price will be set accordingly. you're ignoring the main benefit of being a wholesale provider though. Take my example above, when are you going to find someone who will buy 400+ iron bars in one hit?

If you want to charge retail prices for your goods, then set up a shop and sell direct to the public yourself. Owning a shop has other challenges though, such as up front cost of the location, having a steady flow of supply (because nothing will damage your store like consistantly being out of stock), being able to reliably move your supply (because having stock sit there not being sold is terrible for your cash flow).

it's easy to say that you aren't interested in feeding a reseller, but that's how an economy works. If you don't want to feed a reseller, then the only other way to do it is supply to the end user.

Most merchants that deal in household materials spend their time mining it. The way to make money and an insane profit margin selling household items is to have a lot when and where it's needed. This means you need to keep a lot of materials handy. Don't be too worried about it not being protected. a thief is not gonna dig ten layers into your floor to find a room with ten chests full of stone and sand and steal it. There are a few ways to find bulk buyers. reading the forums is one way. asking everyone you meet is another. The best way in my opinion and i mean by far the best way to unload a huge amount of....sand....for instance, is to be where the person is needing it at that exact moment and does not have the time to mine it. These people are usually going to be rich and powerful so you can a) charge a good fee, and B) actually sell alot because they have fifteen thousand to buy your dozen chests of cobble. (i have no idea just making numbers up) i just saw many stacks of sandstone go for like 250 a piece and the guy made a huge amount of money for just mining sand for awhile....and it was to a rich and powerful person who needed it then. large scale building projects are a prime location for a merchant like yourself. A lord who just inherited a giant tract of land and a tidy sum of money looking to build a castle in a remote location and needs multiple chests of stone brought out for a magnificent castle. That is your target audience. Good Luck!

i guess i went off on a tangent. the only people who care about common materials that aren't gonna go digging are people with disposable income and (probably) an IG job. if someone meets these two criteria, there is a good chance they will want some sort of bulk material from you.

hunt, build, and sell well! -Yahg
