Haelun'or's Defenses.

*Celia takes a log, and stands on it in the middle of the square.

"Our city is magnificent, and so are our people. But I have come to notice something. While we have strong walls, we fail to notice that intruders can simply follow the walls, and then easily get in through areas that are not walled. I say that we should wall up the entire city completely. How can we claim that Haelun'or is so pure if we can have enemy scum simply slip in, and slip out quickly! While it may be good for hunters like me to slip in, and out we must consider our defense. After looking at Hanseti, you will notice that their kingdom is extremely well walled. They also have a passport system, which will keep track of every single citizen. Citizens of Haelun'Or, please grace me with your wisdom on this matter."

Turning from his notebook scribblings, Lucion places his quill and his paper in a neat pile next to him on his bench, and then addresses Celia.

"There has been much talk about the distinct lack of walls in the residential district. However, I assure you that action will be taken eventually. The council has informed us of a set construction plan and all will be ammended in due time. If you do see an uninvited intruder, simply find a Legionnaire or two. If none can be found, Okarir'sil Nelacar often enjoys throwing certain types out of the city.

Violently.

From high places."

Lucion smiles at the thought of an Uruk being thrown off one of the walls. Frowning, he recollects his thoughts and scolds himself for his childish day-dreaming. He carefully picks up his notes and re-begins his incessant scribbling.

There's been many a talk about walling in the residential district. We feel, however, that our ocean-side view would be hindered by the creation of an extra line of walls. Ideas have included creating an artificial reef around our oceans to ensure safety, but in the end the matter has a lower priority in my agenda.

The safety of the Mali'aheral always comes first, and I will make sure that no proud citizen of the Silver City could so easily be threatened in the residential district. So far, however, they aren't, and therefore I am content.

Ellir, you know as much as I that I adore the ocean. You heard me say it today. I think that it would beneficial to have a wall to have a wall in our whole perimeter. This means that the wall would cut through the ocean. This way we would have a view of the great blue ocean, yet still have our shores defended from intruders, and sea pirates.

maehr'sae hiylun'ehya,

Ellir'siol

This is why I thought of the riffs, instead of walls around the residential district.

The reefs are indeed tricky, for they may be a natural defense as much as they may end up being an eyesore. This is a risk one will take, and consider then the effort creating a reef in the ocean will take.

It is a worthy project, but I am hoping someone other than me can take the initiative if the council approves

I didnt want them to be a eyesore, my idea was to have them just under the surface, so no ships can pass.

Robert had been traveling for weeks now, exhausted and weary, ever longing to reach his home. But as he neared Elandriel, a thought came upon him. He thought he would visit the Silver City. Since he had learned of his pure blood, he had never entered Haelun'Or - only marveled at it's beauty from the outside. He had thought the Mali'Aheral would shun him, or perhaps see him as unworthy. But why not try? He thought he would enter Haelun'Or. He liked this thought. Instead of traveling to his tree, he turned the other way and set off on weak knees towards the grand Fortification.

Upon nearing the gate, he found no one was on guard. Cautiously peering in, he ran through the gatehouse, making way to the center of the city. After he crossed over the bridge, ran down the spiral, and neared the town square, some voices caught his attention. He heard people speaking of walls and defenses, when no one had even been at the gatehouse! He followed the voices, and came out into a small clearing. A few tall, grandiose Elves stood there, adorned in marvelous robes of silver and gold, all looking on towards the center of a circle, where a girl sat. Two of the elves were discussing "Riffs" and "Reefs". Clearing his throat, forgetting his exhaustion, he spoke up.

"Oi then, mates. Speakin' of these defenses, why not put a man at the gatehouse? I don't get much of what yer talkin' about here, but I just walked in with no consequences... *He clears his throat, straightening out his tone and ditching his southern accent* Although, brothers, I do see these underwater walls as an improvement. Any offensive forces could simply come into the harbor, and take this awesome city. I think this young lady has a point, the- *And then he stops, realizing that it is Yuln. He smiles* I can explain later, deary, let's keep on topic now. In fact, I do believe I might have a few ideas...

What if we were to install only columns beneath the water? We could put vast pillars poking out of the waves, and then have a sort of draw-bridge. Any unauthorized ships trying to pass through would have their masts snapped off, and left immobile. But if a one of our ships seeked passage, we could raise up the bars, and let them through. A mighty large contraption, it would be. But it could act just like a wall, and it wouldn't completely block off the wonderful ocean view! I think it would be a fine challenge, worthy of your reputation!

*smiles and nods*

I dont think you have seen the entire plan I made, Robert.

*takes out <a scroll> and hands it over to Robert*

If you look at this the Harbour is to be closed off from the residential district with a wall. But now, you look tired... shall we go to my house so you can eat something. In the mean time you can tell me how you came here.

Yuln, a genius architect/planner you are.

*blushes*

Thank you

Indeed, Yuln, never have I seen such an architect or tactician as you in all my travels. Great knowledge and wisdom is your blessing and, in turn, the blessing of Haelun'or.

After countless hours of pressing his quill against the weary, tattered parchment while continuously dipping into ink, creating more various artworks and prints. Altasriel then places his quill, and parchments in a neat pile within his book before slamming it silencing him for a few moments, he then turns his attention to Celia, and then addressing Celia:

Many various ideas have been spread-ed around Haelun'or, countless ideas I've been reviewing.

Essentially this shall benefit us greatly and I'd gladly work on designs providing us with many advantages. Though some of these designs shall take time also I must seek the Okarir permission.

Regardless with Vallel'Yuln.. Idea it's quite.. Brilliant, inquiring that it works I'd gladly assist with this project. Essential I'm looking forward with working with Vallei'Yuln inquired that she accepts..

He bows curtly, smiling at the thought of the Mali'aheral and there ideas laughing bitterly, before returning to his seat. Upon returning he steps on some crisp-dried leaves, he sighs, before retaking his seat, opening his notebook once more. He licks the tip of his index-finger, curling it upon flicking through each page. He slowly slips out his quill, after reaching his page. Altasriel recollects his thoughts, while he slowly beginning to continue his mindless relentless artworks.
