I have an idea for a race of dark elves I am currently one of the only one of my people but more wish to join. I have the history for them all done already as well as the stats, the main city is currently under construction.

Racial Traits:

+30 Swords- The Dark elves have always trained in the way of the sword unlike their pale skinned brethren. +50 mining- living underground naturally made the elves excellent miners due to all of their structures having to be dug out. +30 Taming- Living underground made the Dark elves befriend many of its creatures +50 Magic - Dark Elf Warlocks are highly talented in magic and are prized in the army. -20

((Instead of 300 swords like 300 archery in wood elves, we have 200 because of the several extra buffs))

AoE Buffs: +0.5 Attack and Armor in the Night- Living underground gave the Dark elves a higher vision in the dark, thus their red eyes.

AoE Negative: -0.5 Attack and Armor in the Day

History:

Long, long ago Iblees first came to this land, he brought destruction with him, when the dwarves went underground the humans to their cities and the Elves to the forests. There was a group of elves that believed we should fight Iblees head on. They were wrong. When these elves attacked Iblees massacered them, after the attack almost all the surving elves were tainted.

Their skin turned dark, their hair turned white. They were no longer those elves that frolicked in the sunlight and danced in the meadows. They were now known as the Dorag'el or people of the dark. The dark elves retreated underground for refuge and shelter, for they had not belonged with their wood elven brethren any longer. There they built, there they tamed the creatures of the dark including certain dragons which were able to fly them through the huge underground tunnels of the homes of the Dorag'el.

Religion:

The Dorag'el worshiped not only the great creator of Aegis but also Gan'Agul - The blood god. The elves let free religion roam in their city, yet most worship either the Creator or Gan'Agul. Gan'agul provides certain boons to the elves such as the power to fight better in the night, and the power of dark magic. Of course every race must have healers, which is why there are priests to heal the injured ((good new magic to add to the game))

Military:

The dark elves knew after being conquered by Iblees they needed to be ready for anything, so they began focusing much of their attention to their military. The Bloodsworn were created in honor of Gan'Agul and the blood spilled in their fight against the demon Iblees. But the dark elves also have a regular guard for their city as well. Bloodsworn are not just melee combatants they also learned how to tame dragons and fly them for their armies and are a great boon to their allies. There are also the warlocks. The power of dark magic was given to the Dark Elves by Gan'Agul. They can cast certain spells such as a fireball, and summon minor demons. High ranking warlocks are much more dangerous, which is another reason why the bloodsworn are there, they have a power to cast anti magic sort of a counter to rogue warlocks, and mages. From their sword they can release a spell which can stop the their enemy from casting spells for a couple of seconds, just enough time to let the bloodsworn knight get close and fight in melee. This anti-magic is a great power against the undead.

Ranking and social status of Dark Elves:

The High Lord of the dark elves- also if neccesary is the grand marshall of Bloodsworn

Grand Warlock- Leader of the warlocks and consul to the High Lord

Council- Meets at the high meeting and are in charge of many political situations

Bloodsworn- being a bloodsworn is one of the highest honors in dark elf society

Warlock- warlocks are in the same rank height as Bloodsworn

Noble- noblemen who handle political business

Priest- priests are an important part of dark elf society so are always treated with respect

Citizen of the city

Slave- Dark elves rarely take slaves but when they do they still treat slaves with some respect especially those caught in war. ((there are ranks within ranks like bloodsworn and warlocks but im not putting them here yet))

Current Status:

Only a few dark elves have resurfaced to act as "ambassadors" for their kind, including the Grand Marshall of the bloodsworn, Gorn. They are attempting to ally with their past friends, the wood elves, and certain other factions.

Dragons in Dark Elf Society-

Dragons are highly prized and respected in Dark Elf society. They serve as mounts for battle and most bloodsworn make a deep connection with their dragon. Slaying of a dragon is one of the worst crimes a dark elf can commit. Dragons must be treated with respect. Certain dark elf buildings have dragon statues inside of them for good luck and a charm protecting your house from intruders.

Architecture: Remember this isn't the architecture its the closest thing i found to what our architecture looks like

headquarter_small.gif Small town hall

headquarter_medium.gif Medium size Town hall

headquarter_large.gif Large town hall

quarry.gif

Mine

onyxshrine.gif Fountain

breeder.gif Barracks

fungusfarm.gif Mushroom Farm

tower_blackmag.gif Light house, already made one that looks like this

arcanum.gif Arcanum- Warlock headquarters

onyxtower.gif Bloodsworn Headquarters

forge.gif

Large Store

((I found nothing that looks like the houses we want to make nor the church or library.))

Tell me if you think we should keep the Barracks, Barracks, or if we should remodel and make that building our Animal pen?

Society:

Dorag'el society is mostly based on magic. The priests usually stay in the churhces healing injured and helping in the church, however they are used in certain military tactics to heal the warriors. Warlocks walk the street casting their spells to amaze and confuse those who are new to magic. Almost all Dorag'el are elegant, and behave very well using excellent vocabulary and walking the streets very nobly. However Dark Elves can be quick to anger for they dont always trust outsiders. There are also noble houses in dark elf society these houses may only be joined if your family comes from a noble line, in these houses many things are discussed, political, military, and other such things. When high meetings are held all representatives from all the houses come and speak their piece. Houses sometimes merge together to become one house but this rarely happens.

Clothing:

Dorag'el wear clothes ranging from elegant robes to blacksteel curcaises. They range in colors and sizes. The bloodsworn have a unique armor compared to the rest of the guard and warriors, decorated with redstone, gold, and made of the finest iron.

Laws:

Thievery- 3 days in prison

Murder- Instant death sentence

Griefing- Instand death sentence and dishonor by the High Lord of Dragoth'ur

Slaying of a dragon- Instant death sentence

Attacking an officer- 5 days in prison

Obey your superiors.

Fight always for your brothers and sisters.

Have no mercy to the enemy.

Naming:

There are many names that a dark elf may choose, but nobles always have their name like so.

First comes their Family name Shen. Gellock, etc. , next comes their chosen name, finally comes their honor name, which is the name granted to them by their noble house.

(More will be added later)

Its a sub-race. and there are already Dark Elves/Drows in the game i know because i one of them ((one of the first)) but they don't have special effects.((yet))

Nice idea though. Im not sure about the blood god though it might get the dark elves killed by the cloud temple.

What i would do is read the site about the sub-races ((skip this part if you already have.))and make this a sub-race post.

Lots of Lore from other games to draw on for the Drow

I look forward to them being threshed out for lotc, I hope you use ideas like the underdark and arachnomancers ^.^

From a D&D Book;

ARROGANT AND PERVERSE, the drow conspire to subjugate all

who don’t revere their Spider Queen, the god Lolth.

Like their kin, the elves, drow were once creatures of the

Feywild. However, they followed Lolth down a sinister path

and now reside in the Underdark of the world. There they

gather in settlements of macabre splendor, lit by luminescent

flora and magic, and crawling with spiders.

There could be a few spider themed spells possible in minecraft with webs, poison and summoning, I have a few in the druidic magic thread for you to steal if the subrace is ok'd

Good idea, i had this post out for a while now about a week before the sub races were mentioned but i had to repost because it got messed up, if they have a their own nation i'm not sure whether i'd be just a citizen or High Lord, i did get some stuff from D&D though, the living underground part, and doing dark magic.

This is a great idea.

But do not forget that there are negative attributes as well, you should think of some of them... At the moment you have a lot of boosts...

For the stats ++Acrobatics +Sword's +Unarmed +herbalism +taming and +magic if it's integrated with mcmmo that way.

Perhaps 200 150 100 50 50 50

The best negative attributes for a drow would be;

*They only get their AoE buff in darkness, and on smooth stone/the new ruins stone coming in 1.8. (i.e. weakened by light, I'm seeing a city lit by redstone torches perhaps)

*And that they are underground dwellers without a mining, excavation buff.

If the subraces have negative debuffs -axes/woodcutting -bows - mining/exc perhaps .

I agree with your stats because you sort of evened them out with the +50's

Also guys, tell me what type of lighting system should we have down there? Torches, redstone torches, jack-o-lanterns, street lights or something else?

"200 Acrobatics- being elves they are naturally agile. +200 Swords" Kinda overpowered.

Regular elves have 200 acrobatics and 300 archery
