Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: The_One_Above

How old are you?: I am 15 right now, I will be 16 in November.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: I live in North Carolina, in the United States-GMT -5

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Well, my dad's always been a real stickler for grammer, and I have inherited that. I've got a solid grasp of English and consider myself very attentive to grammar. Having moderate OCD doesn't hurt either.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: For the most part I'm an average American teenager, albeit with my fair share of unusual traits. I enjoy fencing, spending time with friends, and playing video games. I'm a huge fan of roleplaying, and have been doing it for a long time in one form or another.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Well, I suppose it depends. I have school during the week, and the homework load is usually pretty heavy. I believe I could probably make about 18 or so hours a week.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Well, it's essentially assuming the role of a character that you design within the given world. Making descisions and actions based on what your character would do, not what you would do. You can determine what your character would do based on the personality you've given them, or how they've been affected by events from their past. The character can be anyone and do anything, within reason.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: Well, I played World of Warcraft for a few years, I've dabbled in Minecraft Roleplay, and I have been playing RPGs such as Skyrim and others like it for years.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Basically, using information you have obtained out-of-game to your advantage in-game. For example, if your friend told you, "I found such-and-such a thing at such-and-such a place on the server last night." and you went to that place without ever learning of it in-game, that would be Meta-Gaming.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Forcing an action upon others without giving them a chance to react. Such as if two characters are racing each other, and one emotes, "Asinum trips his opponent and kicks him while he is down." without giving the other a chance to counter his attempt to trip, that would be Power-Gaming.

What do you expect this server will be like?: Given the in-depth lore and application process, I anticipate a thoroughly well-designed server, comprised of people who love to roleplay and are good at it.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have played on several scattered Survival and Creative servers, but they have all gotten thoroughly boring after a while. I still occasionally play on Pwego Server, but even it is getting dull. Roleplaying is what keeps a server entertaining in my mind.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: I have indeed, I think they are perfectly reasonable and acceptable.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes, yes I do.

How did you hear about us?: A friend of mine told me about this server.

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?: I have voted for this server on the Minestatus, but I must confess I don't know how to determine my number.

In-Character:

Character Name: My name is Tempus Vagus, son of Sapien.

What Race are you?: I am an Elf of The Holy Princedom of Malinor.

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): I am an exalted High Elf.

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): I was born one hundred Elven years ago to a wealthy merchant in the city of Elandriel. Most of my childhood was pleasant, spent doing little more than reading, wandering aimlessly through the streets of my beautiful home, and listening to my father tell stories of all the places he'd visited in his travels. Unfortunately, my mother died of Grish when I was only thirty, and though I was greatly saddened by her loss, my father took it the hardest. He took to drinking, and before long he had spent much of our fortune on ale. I was forced to take a job stocking shelves at a local library just to support us. It was there that I gained my great love of history. I was fascinated by all the books on the ancient world, about the exploits of the original Descendants, and the nature of Magic and the Void. What frustrated me, however, was how much we did not know. And I realized that I wanted to discover these lost truths, more than anything else. I wanted to uncover the secrets of the past and share that knowledge with the world, simply because I believe we all have the right to knowledge. Also, I secretly hoped that in my explorations, I might find ancient treasures sufficient to restore my family's fortune.

What is your Character's ambitions?: I aspire to uncover the truth behind some of the greatest secrets of the ancient world, and restore the honor and riches of my family.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): I favor the pickaxe, as it is versatile and handy in unearthing ruins and such.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? He is adept at deciphering texts of all kinds, and can transcibe very quickly and accurately.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):

Other Information about your Character: He despises alchohol because of what it did to his father, and will not enter a tavern unless he has a good reason.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? I am decent enough with a bow, and there are only two of them. Staying hidden behind them, I shoot each bandit in the throat, dropping them before they knew what was happening. I turn down the halfling's offer of a reward, taking the bandits' possessions instead.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? I would browse his wares, and if I saw something I needed I would certainly purchase it at a fair price.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: I would check my map of the area to see if it was marked. If not, I would look around for any signs that the hut was occupied. If it appeared deserted, I would take the objects and move on. They're no good to anyone gathering dust in the wilds.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond? I would introduce myself and go through the nessecary formalities before asking if they had any food to trade.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: I am not a terribly skilled fighter, but I have some skill with a bow, and in a large group I could hang back and shoot in relative safety. Therefore, I decide to join the party.

I really did like this application a lot, and I'm very sad to deny it on such a technicality, but:

About 35 years ago, the old world (Aegis) was destroyed, and all the (lucky) residents fled to Asulon. Elandriel is built in Asulon, and as such, your character couldn't have lived in it for more than 35 years. Don't be discouraged, I give you full permission to reapply after 2 hours, once you fix that issue. Oh, and just in case you're wondering, the name of the biggest Elven city in Aegis was "Laurelin" (in case you want to include it in your biography).

You may also want to know, that all Elves mature at the same rate as human, but of course a 70-year-old-elf would still be considered immature relative to the rest of his/her species.

Best of luck. :)
