I just had one thing to suggest... Maybe we could have a group of Shirrifs, similar to Lord of the Rings? Basically a halfling army. More like a group of community fighters, or the neighborhood watch.

Perhaps. We used to have NPC thieves guarding us, but those disappeared. And if you recall, LOTR literally had like four sheriffs for the entire Shire.

1. Thoughts about the boat?

"Oh aye the boat, I 'ad forgotten about that, no one hardly ever comes or leaves by it, I suppose I could make a trip out soon, depends on how I'm feelin' an' if the weather's nice, which ain't bloody likely."

((I like it, no trouble makers have arrived and it gives us quick access to the outside world for RP rather than just waiting around in town for someone to log in, it also makes it easier to trade etc...

Overall, good addition, we really needed that quick outside access.))

2. Thoughts about the new smaller farms?

"I haven't got round to farmin' much recently, although I 'ave seen the new farms an' they look mighty healthy and beautiful, an' the farmland we once used is beginning to recover, which is damn good!"

((I think the farms visually look a lot better than before and I'm sure if we dedicate some more time to farming they will yield just as much as before.))

3. Thoughts about recruiting and teaching more new players, perhaps being more lenient?

"A few more folk aroun' the town would be nice, no bloody orcs or any other trouble makers though, wouldn't want the peace disturbed."

((Yea definitely, the more the merrier, It's sad when you log on sometimes and no one else is around so recruiting new players would be great, and what they don't already know can always be taught.))

4. Thoughts about the role of minas in our society?

"Minas are only ever of use outside The Vale, fer stayin' over at inns and such, as much as we would like to only trade goods for goods, sometimes minas are necessary an' so we should keep a town fund to 'elp us out when they're needed."

((Within The Vale they have little use but I think we should understand that they are important outside of our town/area and as such keep a healthy supply of them around, I imagine us being filthy rich and not even knowing because we don't value them like others do. I can also see some people only accepting minas for a trade, In my eyes we should be able to pay for things with minas and items but when we DO use minas we would be generous and basically over pay people for things since we see them as of little value.))

5. Thoughts about how kind we should be? Should we welcome all who travel by boat? Gossip, as LOTR hobbits might do? Gently shoo them away? Everyone different?

"Well, tha' all depends on our likings of the person, if they seem honest an' true, I see no reason why we shouldn't let them walk amongst us, obviously those who we distrust should be shoo'd off and told never te return, fer the better of the town an' the Halflin's... an' perhaps soon other races."

((People who are nice help, let em stay, people who damage, threaten, beat, KILL... give em the boot, we should do so in a way that matches their offences against our town/their personality IC, too keep the peace, attract new people and have fun.

6. Will you all please actually log on a tad more instead of just lurking forums or TS? It really does help out :3 .

((Certainly, I usually log on at a time where everyone else is away, so it kinda puts me off for the rest of the day, but I will make the effort to come on at times when others are about and try to keep everything running when they aren't.

I do love lurking on the forums though ;3.))

7. What would you like to see built next in Branborough?

"Yer told me somethin' before in the storehouse Petyr, somethin' about a business or such, I believe we were te craft the finest beds and carve the finest furniture and construct the finest boats fer sale all over the land... an' to make a name fer ourselves while doin' it.

Going with this would require I workshop of sorts, so tha's what I believe needs buildin'."

((Yea, we need to set up a workshop of sorts, somewhere where we can all work and create great goods for trading and sale all over Asulon.))

Guest Jhonen

First of all I won't be responding IC because well... Jhonen is dead so yeah all of this is OOC :P

1. Thoughts about the boat?

Well personally I would rather not have one because one of the things about being a Halfling is the searching for it initially which helped keep roleplaying very refined. Although the population has become stale and we rarely get outsiders so I do hope that it brings some good things instead of bad.

2. Thoughts about the new smaller farms?

I like the large rolling fields but if seed drop is still very low and population stays down then it may become necessary to make them smaller but it would be best to stay away from the little personal gated squares that some use.

3. Thoughts about recruiting and teaching more new players, perhaps being more lenient?

Well if you mean when new Halflings come in we support and try to teach them then sure. As long as they understand they have learning to do and don't go around destroying forests and being possessive. Another thing is making them understand some type of humility so they aren't all obsessed with perms and items and being in control.

4. Thoughts about the role of minas in our society?

With the amount of things we share and the general openness of the community it is very unimportant unless dealing with the outside races for buying "exotic" items. I think we should avoid using it between each other to keep the kindness flowing.

5. Thoughts about how kind we should be? Should we welcome all who travel by boat? Gossip, as LOTR hobbits might do? Gently shoo them away? Everyone different?

Well I think a mix of all of them is good. Say we know a people are violent and such we might want to shoo them away VERY gently but if someone has proven kind in Asulon we would try and welcome them. Also I love me some Halfling gossip so always some of that :3

6. Will you all please actually log on a tad more instead of just lurking forums or TS? It really does help out :3 .

I am dead but if I decide to be a Halfling again I will be around plenty to help and spark some RP and such.

7. What would you like to see built next in Branborough?

Hmm... Very good question so I will make a list of three potential things:

A unique "Halfling Inn" to promote guests and try and show some of our culture to them.

Some more silly Halfling things that help spark roleplay, an example is Petyrs couch or our little feasting gazebo.

An interesting thing might be some sort of stage for when we have events.

A side note is I will list 3 things I do not want to see built:

Above ground shops and homes, We need to keep to our old culture if we want to strive for our quirky and unique way of life.

A mine, 'nough said.

Little boxy and personal farms, We are a community and these large open farms help to promote that as well as provide everyone and opportunity to get into farming.

Yes, I'm working on a workshop and craftsmanship area of the town right now. I think I may make a large burrow with a separate region for new halflings and make a forum pitch.

((I'm no Halfling, but I do live in Branborough (Working, at least) and would agree if the boat was hidden or removed in its entirety.))

1. Thoughts about the boat?

Qaton rubs his chin lost in thought. "I've seen a number of new folk lately. Saw a little green one once and even had a few in m'place from the storms. I wonder if it'll always be this busy."

I've seen more people lately than when I first began (within the last couple weeks). It opens a lot of RP and if people know we're here, they may come looking to trade. Trouble is bound to come but, to be honest, if people want to make trouble, they're gonna make trouble. What good story has no conflict?

2. Thoughts about the new smaller farms?

"S'nice t'have local farms."

I like the look of smaller local farms. One giant farm looks like that one by Renatus, very industrial.

3. Thoughts about recruiting and teaching more new players, perhaps being more lenient?

"Folks have been good t'me here, I'd say."

Finding the Vale was a bit of a fluke, in a way. Some "written" rules (i.e. posted in the forums) somewhere in the Vale about the Vale would help new folk not make unknown mistakes.

4. Thoughts about the role of minas in our society?

Qaton ponders the fact that he has a home and food aplenty. He considers himself lucky to have found this place.

Knowing the demands of folks may not be a terrible idea but what to do with the money, I've no clue.

5. Thoughts about how kind we should be? Should we welcome all who travel by boat? Gossip, as LOTR hobbits might do? Gently shoo them away? Everyone different?

Recalls the past weeks. Not sure what else to do, he offered food, drink, and warmth to those staying out of the rain. "I hope I didn't make anyone mad."

If there is a boat, what good would it do to shun? There would be those who do not trust the outside world but since the whole collapse of the recent world and the whole migration, there seems to be a forced proximity that might have given half folk a kinder inclination.

6. Will you all please actually log on a tad more instead of just lurking forums or TS? It really does help out :3 .

"Sure has been quiet around here. Wonder if many others live here."

I've been on when able (PST) but I've only met a handful of those who have mounds.

7. What would you like to see built next in Branborough?

Qaton berates himself as he stands in front of his humble furnace. "Half folk don't do this!" Even as he grumbles he can't help but enjoy himself as the warm glow heats his tender halfling skin.

Workshop would be great. Little bugger halfling saw the sign for tinkerer and wanted to help any way he could. He found he loves to repair and smelt. But that's a whole diary entry methinks.

We officially have a workshop and a few more burrows. I'm still inclined to keep the boat, honestly... for the more active players that I see in game, like Tibb, Lyra, and me, it is a huge boon.

((More Halflings should do this questionnaire, Whether you know it or not these really help quality and these things are put up for us to use and voice our opinion.))

1. Thoughts about the boat?

T-The boat? I do like the boat, it's much faster than walking to the Vale..

((I'm split on the boat. Getting to the Vale is a lot easier, and I don't have to walk 30 minutes from Alras everytime I forget something. This is very helpful, but the town is supposed to be hidden. Maybe moving it away from the main dock?

2. Thoughts about the new smaller farms?

I like the new farms, they are much easier to manage..

((I love them!

3. Thoughts about recruiting and teaching more new players, perhaps being more lenient?

More halflings would be nice. It does seem like I'm the only one there, at times.

((Most new players don't know you can play a halfling until after they are accepted. To be honest, I didn't know halflings existed until a month after I got accepted.

4. Thoughts about the role of minas in our society?

I only ever use minas in Alras.. They don't seem to have much use here. Everyone shares everything..

((I agree with with Sorsby on this question. We don't value minas, or aim to get more of them.

5. Thoughts about how kind we should be? Should we welcome all who travel by boat? Gossip, as LOTR hobbits might do? Gently shoo them away? Everyone different?

Why do they want to be here, anyway? There's nothing here for them.. Maybe we should put up gates, to keep them out!

((I don't think we should be too nice to visitors, especially after the humans threatened our town awhile ago :P

6. Will you all please actually log on a tad more instead of just lurking forums or TS? It really does help out :3 .

((I try too as much as I can ^_^l I've been spending most of my time in Alras for the past couple weeks, but I'm back!

7. What would you like to see built next in Branborough?

It'll be nice, if someone built a bakery.. Somewhere to bake cakes, and all..

Which boat do you think should be hidden, the one in the Vale, or the one in the Sanctuary?

Link to post

((The one in the sanctuary, the halfings and the triling (Hybrid of 3 races : Elf, Dwarf and Human) would all agree the Sanctuary is easily a leakable spot to invasions...of...Ugly...tall...Petyr wouldnt like to see "Dem" Titanic beings wandering around because they found a "Free" boat...Would he? Would all of us like it? Nooope :3 I suggest the removal or the exclusion from public-eye of the boat. perhaps a /lwc'd door with a password to those who Petyr picks (Everyone that owns a Burrow/Works/Lives in the Vale) Others that would trespass would obviously be invited to by the community members and thus, said members should oversee them giants.

Just my Two Cents.

Also;

Remember, you would never have gotten to Branborough without it, though.

Not entirely true. We had arranged previously my job and common folk life, relation, acceptance, etsc. Into the vale with Lyra, she was the one who is teaching Salian "Common", and he will be a worker to, he sees halflngs as the closest to an Artal, so he sees you, as said before ingame, family.)
