A Paladin Walks into a Temple...

*For several moments, Caldwell thinks about how best to get his message out, as he paces about the Cloud Temple Forum. His patched leather and mail scrapes beneath the plates of his armor, the noise washed out by the raucous scrambling of passersby. He hails the crowd, to no avail. Again, he cries, and remains unheeded. Finally, he lays his right hand upon the hilt of his gifted blade and Gildermorte sings from its sheathe, high above his head. For the last time, he hails the crowd, and, noticing the serrated curve of his golden sword, they abide.*

"Hail, citizens," he says, as he turns Gildermorte's point to the ground. "I am Caldwell Atwater, pupil of Blundermore. As such, I seek a righteous path, and to help those who go without.

"I am an ex-soldier, a wanderer, a survivor. For those who need, as long as your own intentions are goodly, I am here to aid you, in any way I can; as shield, as sword, as companion, or quester. Should you come to ask, or that I should find you, I will commit myself to the deed."

Caldwell stands quiet for a moment, his earthen eyes panning across the crowd. "Does anyone ask of this traveler for to extend his hand?"

*Caldwell rests his gloved hands upon the pommel of his sword and awaits a response.*

OOC:

Have been looking for people to help out, as my new character. Thought it would be a good idea to post on the forums to see if anyone expresses their interest in FREE help, while I'm AFK. Essentially, Caldwell is an ex-swordsman looking to walk a more righteous path, and he needs to be put out there as much as possible.

If your character is good, Caldwell will help your character out with ANYTHING within his ability. If you have an "evil" character and have the VA to do it, your character could probably lie his/her way into Caldwell's company, but he might find out and drop the job. So, if you have any kind of need (even if it's a companion for the road), feel free to post a reply. I'm looking forward to some solid RP!

*The Zealot hears the mans words and begins tossing a notion around in his head. Finally he walks closer to the man and calls out to him. "For all the good that hath been done what left hath the good doer, what say good sir? I follow the path of righteousness set ablaze before me by the great divine Aengul and Daemon. The Daemon call for hope, they call for bravery...they call for heroes. In the final days I see, when I be layed amoungst my kin in rememberance, I will rest easy and wait to feel the warmth of the Daemon. If ye wish for them to touch ye as they hath done unto me, pick up thy blade, pick up shield and follow the call of the entities of flame. The Daemon three, wise and pure fire. Again I say, when all good hath been done, what left hath the good doer? ...What say ye?"*

*The Zealot backs down the steps of cloud temple entrance and pulls his hood over his head, slightly nodding*

*Caldwell calls down the steps after the man.*

"I need nothing but the absolution offered me by righteous work. I need nothing but the extended hand of a weary traveler, hoping for help on his journey home. I need nothing but the call to raise a home for the peaceful to live peacefully.

"Such is my path. All I want is for to give back a fraction of what I've taken away, to return what good that has perished at my hand.

"Your talk of Daemon is nothing this old soldier wish touch or be touched by, wearer of hoods. For years, I've taken refuge in the cold bosom of hard earth and old woods, only now to emerge into the light, and have it freely look upon me.

"My only hope is that when it does, it will see a cleaner man than left Aegis, at the end. What say you?"

*Caldwell turns to the passersby at his back, in case any stand in attention.*

"What say any of you?"

((I can vouch that he has taken my guidance of reforming himself from his past deeds with either equal deeds of good or several lesser deeds of good. Though be it that he is not so much a pupil in the sense of magic if people feel that is what he means by such. The event did take place apon the road to the human kingdoms at the cross roads of the "boar inn" (I think that is what it was) and Aegis docks. I told him in RP that the only true way to cleanse himself of past deeds was not through that of magic and faith but in action and purpose. To balacence out his wrong doings with good deeds. I cannot provide screen shots for the event that took place but I do believe that there was another present as well called... legoman, something like that.))

"What say any of you?"

Lorethos smiles gently, limping along with the aid of a monk. His leg and arm are both wrapped up tightly, his arm tied against his body. His rough face is littered with scrapes and bruises.

"Redemption, my friend. A word that I so often seek to hear from those of regret, but hardly do. Hearing it from you now refreshes this battle beaten knight. If you desire to walk a righteous path, then aid Syrila of the Rubicon Legion. This war may be twisted, but whatever happens, aiding our lord God in ending the corruption that plagued the land of Salvus alongside Syrila and myself is the greatest opportunity at redemption there will be for many years.

Though if you would rather not fight in war, I ask that you serve as a guard to my family, specifically my cousins Mayethill and Velarin. They are both members of the Rubicon Legion, and I can not be there to aid them. I fear they may be targete by the enemies of our righteous cause.

If you desire to aid me in God's path through either or both of these, you will have gained both my respect and the respect of any whom you come across. Redemption in godly assistance."

Lorethos nods, attempting to lean on a stone archway to help the Monk keep him standing.

*Cladwell takes notice of the knight and his shoulders slump, visibly relaxed.*

"Your words are kind, friend." Caldwell, in noticing the Lorethos' wounds, straightens like the soldier he used to be and places his right hand, closed into a fist, across his chest. "You do not waste them on me, but I don't believe I can take my sword to this war. I see too much of a soldier's dishonest craft at work on either side.

"But," he continues, dropping his hand to the hilt of his sword. "Family, I can protect. Family is worth the blood defending." Caldwell steps forward, extending his hand. "Currently, I've duties guarding the county of Somerset, and I may be taking what aid I can to the war's wounded, but I will have time for you and yours. You have my thanks."

Lorethos struggles to move his uninjured arm to shake Caldwell's hand. He smiles.

"No, my friend. I thank you. Velarin and Mayethill are with the Rubicon Legion. No need for your to participate in the war, but it would be appreciated if you kept them safe otherwise. Send word to them when you can, they'll tell you where they are. Tell them Lorethos sent you."
