Dearest friends,

For a long time the Elder Tree Isle has been home to many luxurious homes that have been out of the price range of many. For even longer, the voyage from the Cloud Temple has either equally as expensive as the homes, or even just unavailable.

As your High Princess, I am proud to announce that this is no longer the case! We have deployed a new ship to help ferry our brothers and sisters to the Holy Princedom safely and swiftly. The voyage itself is no cost, courtesy of the Princedom.

In addition we have slashed the prices of all homes within the Capital City of Normandor so that everyone may be able to afford a home on the Elder Tree Isle. We have small flats for 500, and suites up to 5000.

If you are young and still getting your start, you should inquire about an apartment instead, that you can stay in at no cost up front.

In addition we have many jobs available for everyone, elf and otherwise. These jobs include miners, lumberjacks, farmers, and excavators. In addition our military is continuing to grow and is looking for able bodied swordsman, rangers (archers), and berserks (axe users).

The princedom is growing fast so please come by soon to ensure you get the home you wish. I look forward to seeing everyone of you.

-Sythra Duskind

High Princess

Listed with the letter is a bulletin:

Housing:

All homes on the Elder Tree Isle have had their prices slashed! You can now get a home in Normandor for a fraction of the price of before. Homes go for 1000 to 5000 minas. If you are new and just starting out, there are apartments available at no cost except for an elven weekly rent.

All homes in Normandor are subject to taxation. While the city is in a growing phase, taxes will be 100 minas per elven week. As the city grows, the taxes on the more expensive homes could go up, but no more than 500 minas for the most expensive homes.

Apartments are subject to a 100 mina rent to be paid every elven week. This rent will never go up.

Taxes/Rent are waived for soldiers and workers of the city, see jobs below for more details.

Taxes/Rent are to be collected at the end of every Elven Week (Saturday).

If you do not pay your rent by the end of the elven week, you have until the end of the next elven week to pay. Failure to do this will result in the home being repossessed. You have yet another elven week to retrieve your belongings or pay the rent. After the third missed elven week the home will be reopened for sale and belongings found will be appropriated by the princedom.

((Right now we are trying to improve activity within Malinor. The taxes and rent is a cheap way for us to ensure activity. If you are making a small investment to stay here, you’re more then likely are going to stick around and be active. It also serves as a means for us to see who is active and how many.

If you cannot pay for ooc reasons please let us know. OOC reasons should not result in you losing your home. If you go on vacation or cannot login for a bit, please let us know ahead of time. If you do lose your home due to unforeseen circumstances prohibiting you from logging on at all. We will do everything in our power to either get you back into your home or a similar home, and back to the status you were before the event took place.))

Rules for Housing:

1. Pay your taxes or rent on time!

2. You may pay up to ten elven weeks in advance.*

3. No modification of the structure. Meaning no building basements or expanding the house. You may section of the rooms inside as you see fit. If you would like to expand outward or install a basement floor you may ask for permission from the city officials. This will however cause the value of the home to increase, and be subject to a higher tax rate in the future.

4. Land outside the home must be kept tidy and neat in appearance. As well as the structure outside the home.

5. Absolutely no underground farming allowed.

6. Notify city officials when you wish to sell your home. You may sell the home to anyone you wish and for any price. But we need to know so we can keep a log. You may also sell the home for a quarter of the price in minas or half the price in Malinor Credit to the city.

7. Modify only the building/room you own.

((* You may only pay up to 10 weeks in advance. This is placed as Malinor Credit. Should you find that you wish to leave Malinor before you use up said credit in taxes/rent, half of the credit will be returned as minas.))

Jobs:

Malinor is currently hiring Miners, Lumberjacks, Excavators, and Famers!

These are full time positions. City workers will expect to be paid 300 minas per week for fulfilling their assigned quotas. In addition any taxes or rent owed will be waivered, essentially being paid for. This is an excellent way for a newcomer to get started as they could easily move into an apartment and begin work to earn minas!

In addition to fulfilling their quotas, workers will be paid a commission based on rare and valuable materials being obtained for the city. They will also be able to earn commission based on 100 minas per half their quota extra. For example, a miner has a quota of 48 iron per week, should they obtain 72, they will be paid their weekly rate plus an additional 100.

By request Iron or Diamond Tools can be provided. These tools are to remain the property of Malinor. If they wear down, merely place them in your quota chest to be repaired. It is recommended that you use wood or stone tools for mundane things. But we can for example, get you a diamond pickaxe to get up some Obsidian or at least Iron for Gold, Diamonds, and Redstone. If you lose or break these tools, it is up to you to replace them.

Quotas are listed in the individual sections for jobs. If multiple items are listed it means that there is multiple ways to fill your quota. For example, miners are listed at 48 Iron and 192 Coal. This means you can fill your quota by mining up 48 Iron or 192 Coal. You can use any combination of the two, such as 24 Iron and 96 Coal, or 36 Iron and 48 Coal.

Special commissions are listed as well. There is also temporary quotas and commissions for items in severe need by the Princedom. Temporary quotas can be filled in place of the regular quota. Commissions for individual items are paid on case by case basis. This is to ensure the worker gets a fair market value.

Failure to meet the quota by the end of the elven week will subject the worker to taxation if they own a home in Malinor.

Miners:

Miners are used to obtain stone and valuable ore for use in making tools, structures, weapons, and armor.

Quota:

48 Iron Ingots (one and a half stacks)

or

256 Coal (four stacks)

Gold Ingots

Obsidian

Temporary Quota:

Rules for Mining:

1. No landscarring.

2. Pick up any torches you place when done (prevents lag for those in the same chunk).

3. Use proper supports for safety (make it look somewhat like a mine).

4. Do not make haphazard paths (basically keep it neat).

5. Do not radically alter the landscape.

Note: We currently do not have a mine set up. This will change in the very very near future. You may still apply to be a miner, but your work will start a little later.

Excavators:

Excavators are used to clear large expanses of earth and obtain sand for use in making glass and stone for buildings.

512 Sandstone (8 stacks)

or

2048 Sand (32 stacks)

2. Do not leave air pockets

3. Do not radically alter the landscape

Lumberjacks:

Woodcutters are always in need. Wood is used in weapons, buildings, and tools.

Quota:

1024 Logs (16 stacks Maple preferred)

or

512 Leaves (8 Stacks)

Rules for Wood Cutting:

1. Replant everything you cut down

2. Do NOT leave floating trees

Farmers:

Farmers provide the majority of food for the princedom.

Quota:

2048 Wheat (32 stacks)

or

1024 Melons (16 stacks)

or

1024 Sugarcane (16 stacks)

Rules for farming:

1. No underground farming.

2. Any seeds pulled up while farming will be used to replant

Note: Seeds will be provided as needed. It is recommended to not specialize in just wheat as it can be hard to renew.

General Information:

Quota chests are normally placed right outside a workers home and locked so that the worker and city officials have access to the chest. If a worker doesn't live in the city itself or their home cannot support having a chest right outside (as in not regioned for it), then a quota chest will be placed in the Hall of Labors.

From now on (6/23/2012), only one missed quota will be allowed. Two missed quotas will result in the worker losing their status as a worker and subject them to taxation if they own a home in Malinor (normally workers' taxes are waivered).

If for some reason a quota cannot be met please inform the city officials (can send me or another prince a message via PM) to inform us of the situation.

Economy:

Malinor has an alternate currency known as Malinor Credit. It is not meant to be used as tender for private transactions. This currency can be purchased for the purpose of paying rent ahead of time as well as earned through other means to help purchase a home. It cannot be transferred to another individual, but can be converted to minas at half the rate.

It is recommended that you make all transactions in minas

UPDATED 10/22/2012!!!

Please speak to or send a letter to a prince or princess for more information.

Nessa reads the jobs list, her eyes spark up when she sees the need for farmers. Nessa runs back to her home, and takes out a piece of paper. She dips her feather in black ink, and begins to write a letter.

"Greetings, and well met. I am Nessa Calmcacil, elf of Malinor. I have bought a house in the Grand Tree, and am looking for a job to keep myself busy, and able to pay my taxes. For many years, I have been farming in Salvus, and I know, I can keep up my good work in Malinor. Please, respond to me, Nessa Calmcacil, either by bird (Skippy369), or, by meeting with me in person.

~Nessa Calmcacil.

She takes the paper, and hands it to her bird. She then sets the bird free, hoping it'll find the High Princess.

Maehrir Lirrame sees the notice. She carefully tears a piece of paper out of her journal. She writes the following message in elegant cursive.

Greetings. My name is Maehrir Lirrame. After seeing your notice I am interested in obtaining a position as a farmer. I am an adept farmer as I have been farming since my childhood ((Farming Level: 32). If possible I would also like to receive an apartment. I can be contacted by bird ((ek_knight)).

Best Regards

Maehrir Lirrame

Maehrir attaches the note to the birds leg and watches it fly off into the distance.
