Guilds Must Be Abolished

A letter in fine trim and tied with a finely woven woolen string is placed respectfully at the Gates of Haelun'or. One of the High Elves retrieve it swiftly and reads it aloud for others to hear, news encroaches on the busy daytime affairs of the Laurir and becomes the discussion of many.

"Noble High Elves, it may have become known to some of the situation in Salvus, the consequence of the ignorant Valah's separated guilds upon the whole of that Nation; concurring wrath from the North, South, East, and West. Verily, perhaps we have succeeded in keeping centralized and our bloodlines pure, but nonetheless we must spread the word of these so-called guilds; how they lure any and many to seek power from leading the minds and might of men. It is imperative that the Haelun'or always stays splendid with the cooperation of the High Elves and the respect that we give to ourselves as the highest of all races, the most intellectual of them all and that none of our brood give heed to words that invite such wasted time spent on forming these small conglomeration of people to do as they wish; separate from the interests of Haelun'or. The culling of outsiders wishing to seduce the intellects of those of Haelun'or must be opposed and if worse comes to worse; killed in the name of euthany.

Challenge the Laurir whose authority they flaunt to shield and protect these guilds, unless these guilds pay direct tribute or give something of great usage to the High Elves."

We are not the orcs, who demand tribute in exchange for existence. I say we do not become them.

In other way, this makes them dangerous. In small, unorganized groups, they make weak enemies. If we were to destroy them, they would simply form larger, more dangerous groups.

*Halinahr chuckles at the man's statement*

"You might say conquering is for those 'things' but we have to start purifying Asulon, The elven race has become tainted. They need to be evened out. That's why we should start making ourselves stronger."

*Overhearing the conversation from afar Oceas decides to join the crowd in the conversation at hand*

The world of Asulon stands in a cobweb of diplomacy and oaths to one another on all levels of size. Granted few guilds such as the ordinators serve as a threat and should be dealt with, however not all are in this case in a way our college could be seen as a guild. In this network of alliances should we go on a crusade on all guilds such as this suggests the entire of the outer asulon would rip the very stones out of our city walls. As High elves we are superior....lets use our minds to think things out before committing pure suicide.

Ellir, dignified, was looking straight ahead, not at the notice nor any Mali'aheral in particular. She catches wind of the beginning discussion and demands her turn to speak with a single raised palm.

Guilds, families, factions, hamlets. How many of those never amount to anything. Haphazardly placed with lusty leaders, loose cannons, passionate but without the skill to match. Should we deal with them or not, they will still perish within the turning of the season, making room for more of the same in a neverending cycle, as inevitable as the rising of the sun.

It is true, were we of a vicious sort we could crush them, were we looking for dominion we could have them submit. Were we vicious hunters, we could chase them off far into the wilds, let people disperse to lands cold and volatile, thinning even stronger their chances of survival. But our blessed race, superior and temperate, has no need to throw themselves into the eternal fray that razes the lands beyond our gates.

One question remains, then. A tactical one, perhaps. Though these guilds live and die at our mercy now, their nature it is to grasp filthy opportunity. Their chance it is to prey on a nation in need, stealing and pillaging behind the back of ones stronger than themselves, gaining resources and acclaim they do not deserve.

Should we strike them now, then, when we have the chance, and eliminatie or absorb what may once be a threat under the right catalyst at the wrong time?

Would that make us any better than them?

((For the good of the server, then. I see the OOC benefits of this initiative clearly, but I would struggle to find an IC counterpart.))

[As I know the High Elves RPly keep to the Silver City mostly, I cannot provide an IC rebuttal, but I think my letter was either confusing (due to me writing this early in the morn) or this is the natural inclination of the High Elves, but this letter was advocating any possible guilds around Silver City be coerced to join into the Silver City and outsiders repulsed either by request or ultimately the lastly suggested 'euthany']

Treading along the walkway leading from the excavation site, Dio distantly listens to the discourse being held further off. Curious over the earnest tone of the exchange, he approaches the conversing party, making inquiries before offering his own perspectives:

"Once again it has come to pass that those whom we share this realm with; advocators of their own freedoms and of the strength to see their ends realised, have as consequence fulfilled the purpose they acted against; unity and shared ambition did they endevour for; bore a broken mirror and twisted dream."

"Haelun'or, our inheritance, whose legacy we strive to uphold, remains home to but a single collective; that of the kin who swore to maintain the pure ideals; to them does the Silver City extend its strongest welcome. Those that are far removed from ourselves have in their efforts accomplished little; the reach of desire arrives further than the life that owes its existance."

"Pledging loyality to an order is a concept that remains foreign to myself; blindness of action does this false concept embody in my own mind. A guild is the ruin of the individual, whom is necessary in serving the causes of intellect; asking of the singular entity to relinquish all thought of serving a moral that is true to themselves; for greed, all the worse."

"The bindings of sound and script are not to be abided by, for they are fickle in nature, and enforce nothing beyond the convictions they invoke; in this light nobody should be advised to offer their fealty to them, lest a sense a trusting duty to a thing with no capacity for judgement itself beget a wrong."

"Mali'aheral will judge in concise a manner and maintain an unwavering resolve in defending the way; this may be known."
