[World Event] Plague

It is becoming too much to bear. The formerly healthy, whole people have given way to the sick, the diseased, the dying, the dead. Monk Verblu is rapidly becoming overwhelmed. Physically, he is always tired now, always drained of energy. He is grateful that he still lives, surrounded by the constant deaths, which he attributes to the constant presence of Lady Rellenia. But mentally, this very fact is taking a toll. Why he lives and others drop dead all around is messing with his mind, making him doubt himself. Emotionally, he is a wreck. People shout insults, lash out with harsh words. The very ones he tries to save seem to want him dead. It is even worse when, in their last breaths, they suddenly seem to gain clarity and realize he is only trying to save them. Their eyes grow clearer, their gaze turns desperate, and then they pass. Monk Verblu tries to stay focused and positive, but it grows more difficult each day...

In his office, Josef is nearly overwhelmed. Not by the plague. So far, the city seems to have been mercifully clear of any signs of disease. But the incoming reports tell a different story. The people of Seventis and people of the Cloud Temple Sanctuary seem to be in the most trouble. But increasingly, he is getting reports of people in other areas falling ill. And the reports of what is occurring as a result... Looting, murder, death, collapse of societies. Will everything end because of this? he thinks. Is this really the end of all that we have created...

Kernith takes notice. Josef is even more busy than usual, and he barely sees his father anymore. Josef warned him not to leave the city whenever possible, to try and avoid anyone infected, and to run if he met someone sick. Kernith ignores all the advice. He goes on regular trips, taking the horses from the city to Alras, and then the ship to the Cloud Temple. He is shocked by the deaths, by all the people suffering. He grows angry, too. Why is there no cure for this? He doesn't see what is going on behind the scenes, all the people who are tirelessly trying to find a cure or relieve suffering. It is in a ruined town when something happens to change him. He enters the village, shrouded in armour, and protected by a heavy mask. So far, he has not gotten sick, and hopes to remain that way. Slinking past the farms on the edge of the settlement, he makes his way past houses. A few are on fire. Some have broken windows. All are silent. It is unnerving to see no sign of life, anywhere. It is only in the centre of the village, what would have been the main square, that he sees the first sign of life. A little girl, lying on the cold stones of the ground. Her eyes are clouded, her skin covered in green. Kernith stops moving, staring at the sad and pathetic sight with shock. As he stands there, she looks right at him, their eyes meeting. She appears to be pleading with him, begging for some sort of aid... and then she is gone...

[if this plague was the result of the sicknesses started in Seventis, then add some IC usable information about the Subudai being immune, since we started it in Seventis :3]

[[

Players will discover that the Subudai are immune to the plague in their own time. I think it would be better for you to have that information to yourself until you deem it the best time to reveal your immunity... it could be quite interesting.

]]

((I started this <3

It was meant to just be for Seventis and end quickly, but look at it now! It's amazing! If you have any questions concerning the disease, symptoms, etc. Please PM me or refer to the original post under Seventis Role Play.

Enjoy the event!~))

[[

Indeed you did! I thought it was far too well executed and planned to just affect Seventis, so I just let a Plague do what any good illness does... spread.

Hopefully this will make a lot of fun RP for people over the coming week, or more. ^^

Do we HAVE to get sick? :I []

[[ Sick? It would be very preferable. Dead? That's up to you. It's a good mechanic to let people kill off their character permanantly in a cool way if they desire to.

Not necessarily, but if you don't plan on getting sick, you should flee to the corners of civilization the moment you learn about it. That's what I intend to do, anyway.

[[ If you mean kill off your character, no. Dez's intention with the creation of the event was he was going to use it to end Seventis and would lead it to join Renatus as a Duchy. The Subudai are immune to the disease (Which is not yet discovered ICly, because they began the disease in Sarun (The Capital City of Seventis). Of course, some of the people who acquired the Plague soon after ended up spreading it all over Asulon. (Skravia, Normandor, the Cloud Temple). Perhaps some could create alternate characters to RP the plague. That's what I did.

I created an alternate character "Infected_Peasant" and roleplayed the plague like so. The event was created to spark good roleplay and so far it has done so. Dez1320 did not intend for there to be a cure but I am assuming there is one (or several). ]]

I see what your saying since this information can be used ICly rather than an OOC noting the information pertaining to the plague. Will do ;)

EDIT: Further Information Regarding the Plague:

- The Plague is Bacterial.

- It can be acquired by means of Direct Contact (Say a character coughs upon your character, there is a good chance you'd get the plague.)

- Cures are currently limited.

- Individuals affected by the plague minimally have a slim chance of recovery. Recovery should be Roleplayed extensively and also should pose repercussions to the body.

This post is for those of you who have not seen Dez1320's thread which listed the symptoms and roots for the Plague.

The Thread is located here:

http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/53352-the-plague/

Here are the symptoms of 'Garth's Revenge' (Taken from the above thread):

-HOW TO RP THE PLAGUE-

If your character catches the plague either from being in Seventis or by being in contact with someone from Seventis, they will experience the following symptoms with imminent death or a miracle recovery (please don't do a miracle recovery, but if you wish you can.)

-+Symptoms+-

-(In order)-

-Weakness.

-Green dots covering skin. (Try adding them to your MC skin!)

-Numbness in Fingers and Toes.

-Numbness in limbs.

-Loss of memory/massive mood swings.

-Vomiting.

-Coughing up blood.

Finishing up with...

-Death

The plague usually takes about 1 Elven day to successfully kill your character, those this can be slightly longer or shorter. Also, if you aren't infected or were just infected, try going crazy/committing suicide! It makes the aura of the event feel MUCH more intense. Makeshift hospitals will be set up in Sarun for this RP. We need a TON of victims (Like you!) and several nurses who -attempt- to either cure or comfort those marked for death.

Originally this event was created for good roleplay. Killing off your character isn't needed, it is to your jurisdiction/preference if you wish to do so.

[[While I am glad we Subudai are immune, I do think we should create a proper post explaining why we are and how we started it.]]
