This is a forest biome on a large lake, nearby to plains, mountains and a taiga full of pines. There is only a tiny shack in the area, which is possibly abandoned. It is also not far from our old location, and is still close to the Orcs. We could name the lake it sits on as well. I feel like we have much greater area here also.

I will do that and post pictures

EDIT: We should set up a camp there, I just traveled and there is nowhere to really stay except the little cottage.

Or these, a lot smaller and cheaper, viking roundhouse-ish. I like the first houses better, but showing these just incase...

Nice blueprints but there is a problem:

These are no viking nor celtic nor slavic houses.

Example of viking buildings during iron age:

hos2.gif

Basically, floor and walls of the house should stay wood and dirt, celling should be made of straw(yelow wool) and some sticks. Refrain from using stone or planks so they can stay in climatic form.(cobblestone could be used for fundaments I think but dont know if this will look good.)

Seeing as this settlement expanded into slavic/scandinavian/celtic then I think that in architecture we will replicate the architecture of Jomsborg. To these who didnt know, its citizens were mixed ethnically and showed great variety in culture(slavic, danish, sweden and so on).

Examples of how Jomsborg looked:

Yeah, that looks like a good idea.

Jomsborg was home of jomsvikings, the fiercest warriors in that times. We can try to widen that perspective... :ugeek:

Sacrevarius asked me to build nordic-Scandinavian style homes, not Celtic ones. I can give a go at some Jomsborg looking homes if you don't mind :)

The houses and rules for building them I mentioned in my previous post were scandinavian.

Go on and try, when I get time I will also try building some.

I'll have to say I hope this Nordic village works out .((irl family history bla bla bla)) However to chime in with my two cents keep to simple one large room longhouses/raised balcony like a barn if needed. As for government simple chieftain no council as a leader, realistically it is more accurate plus it allows for more efficient ruling in small settlements with the next chief will be the heir of the past as he was raised by his father to one day lead his people. In regards to a bad chieftain there are countless times where if a king/chief was bad they would get rid of him or on death and still place the son in command as he was a trained leader who carried on the clan name. As for elder council typically the as a whole can simply vote on death/banishment however on electing a new chief that would only be done if there was no heir to the recently killed/banished leader. On that note good luck and perhaps send me a message when you guys go live...I would love to RP a little in a village like such.(new character)

Grogos, here's the longhouse I made...

It was really difficult to get a nice look without planks, logs look way too uniform, especially since they are vertical. The beams in the roof also look nice as opposed to a plain wool roof.

Front view: Fences were used for windows, they look more themed than planks.

The interior: There is a cooking pot hung over the firepit as shown in your pictures. Nothing burns don't worry. There is a "loft" accessible by ladder in the back.

Ceiling view: There's a pen under the loft also, I didn't know what goes in there so I just put some chickens in.

This is what I have so far. The floor is gravel by the way. I think planks could act as split logs if we used them, they really take away the plain look. Other than that I think I did an accurate job. :D

House Tarus is disbanding soon. That means I won't have to kill off my character! And it also means, I can bring more people! Yay me!

Love it ,

I think the floor should be normal dirt and ocasionally brown wool/ or other (fur)

Also I started working on the palisade, anyone care to join me?

We have structure of command, architecture, culture: We are Nords and Slavs, every member can decide his origin (but there is no divide between them) -also when we will post a charter write your ch a short bio (nothing big) next to 'sign up' which will state your ch origin.

And all that is left is a name of village.

Each and every citizen write your proposition for it. And then we will all vote for the best answer.

I propose:

Venjā= Proto-Celtic *or Vinr=Old Norse 'kinship, kinfolk, alliance, tribe, family'
