Dun_Irongut 104 Share Posted June 26, 2012 *Darius walks down the path, coughing up blood, yet with a smirk he continues to write. His political ambitions had taken him far in life, but the charade was over for him. Now, close to death, he wished to accomplish his most cherished goal, the destruction of those who sought to deny him land and killed an acquaintance of his, an inn keeper of good repute from the West. Regardless, Darius took a seat against a nearby tree. Smiling, he retrieves his knife from its holster. "This has been a fools journey Lyra, one that I rather enjoyed." *He places his trusty canary, Lyra, onto the floor and shews her off. She picks at the grass for some time, until Darius gathers the strength to throw a rock at her. When she finally leaves, he smirks and plunges the dagger in his chest, feeling nothing, finally at peace.* *The forests of Kal'Dwain are ripe with seedy figures. Those who would seek to do harm to the Dwarves and Humans of the region. However, the forests that surround the capital of the Dwarven nation, fake and pristine, set the location for what had been done. Darius Ironfist, one of the remaining elders of the Dwarven nation, sits limp, a knife within his chest. With his last breath, he opens his locket, and from it falls the ashes of his ancestors.* The note within his hand reads: The forests around Kal'Dwain are not as they seem. They have brought many riches to me and my family, yet they also will bring our fall. Within them, Godfrey, the king of the wretched empire of Humans, seeks to destroy us. I had hoped to tell this to the king himself, but I have doubts that Godfrey will allow me that satisfaction. My time is over, yet my only wish is for you to avenge me. King Godfrey must die and I hope that my brothers will help me accomplish this goal, even if I find death before I tell it to those I cherish. *Scribbled much more quickly and in much darker ink are several sentences, with one word covered in a drop of blood.* I leave all of my possessions, located around the Iron Citadel to be divided up by my friend and clan father Hiebe Irongut. Let the world treat you well, brother. -Lord Baron Darius Ironfist

Jordan1921 373 Share Posted June 26, 2012 While walking through the woods of Kal'Dwain Hogarth sees in the distance a dwarf with a knife through his chest, he quickly approaches the dwarf and observes him. "Darius...? Whu t'a nether did this tu yeh?" Hogarth mumbles as he pulls the knife out of Darius's corpse. Hogarth can barely cope with the loss of one of his childhood caretakers, but he thinks to himself that now is not the time for mourning. Hogarth looks to Darius's right hand and sees the note that holds Darius's last wish, he quickly reads the note and shouts in a state of rage "'umans did t'is?! I've spent most a meh feckin' life bein' friends wit' 'umans an' t'ey du t'is?!" After a few seconds Hogarth inspects the knife, blood covereing most of the blade. Hogarth puts the knife inbetween his belt and picks up Darius's corpse and rests him on his shoulders. He mumbles one last thing before walking toward Kal'Dwain "Dun worreh Darius...Yer wish'll come true."

Morkas (Wrathstar555) 34 Share Posted June 26, 2012 * morkas gets word of the death from his father, and can only think one thing, what could have caused such a sane, bright man to do such a terrible thing to himself. He goes to his room and silently weeps for his fallen cousin, and then returns to his father, saying to him * "We must avenge Darius, we should nae let 'is death go un'eard!" Diri/GreenKoopaBros 58 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Smiling, Caseus walked down the all too familiar stretch of rode that led to the town that he used to call home. Finally having time away from the Alrasian farms, he was only more than excited to give Darius a surprise visit, and maybe even have a drink with the Old Dwarf. Approaching the Town Gate, the Elf saw, to his surprise, a person, carrying a rather large object over his shoulders. Being the helpful Elf he was, he ran, picking up his pace to get to the person. As the Elf got closer, he couldn't help but smile as he saw Hogarth. Wondering what he was lugging, the Elf realized, as he got closer, that it was a body. Coming up behind the Dwarf, he panted softly before speaking. "Hogarth, hello! I didn't expect to see you here. What you got over..." Finally seeing, full view by what Hogarth had been carrying, the Elfs eyes suddenly widened. "...your..." His smile fell as he blinked in disbelief, Caseus shook his head. "No...No! Darius! I..." Seeing the blood staining Hogarths shoulder from Darius' motionless body, his turned to one of Despair. "Hogarth, He...He isn't..."

First, you say that you grieved the death of your father, that was great and okay. But then, you somehow bury your father with no lead up to it, or allow anyone ample time to respond after your initial post, thus the double posting comes into play. As for the powergaming, we neither saw how you got to Kal'dwain, where your father was, you didn't interact with Hogarth to talk about your father or retrieve him for, set, burial. Which, in my opinion, was unfair to anyone who was wanting to roleplay with Hogarth as he entered the town of Kal'dwain, aka, me.))

Diri/GreenKoopaBros 58 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Having heard of the location of Darius' grave, and, with a bit of asking around, the Elf finally found the Grave of his dear friend. Taking off his hat, he began to cry, not ugly crying, but the respectful silent crying one does for a dear friend. Lowering his gaze to the grave, he bowed his head before speaking. "Darius, Dear old Darius. I may not be one of your clan, but you acknowledged me as your brother, and I know that, for a dwarf to do that to an elf, is rare. I am honored to have met you, to have fought by your side, and helped build your Town. I..." sob "I...never thought that you would be gone so quickly. You gave me a home, kept me well and able, even bent tradition to see that I had everything that made me feel at home. You were the kindest dwarf that I have ever had the Honor of meeting. I will never forget about you, will never forget your valor, your kindness, and your bond to your brethren. Without you, I wouldn't be where I am, today. I owe you my life, and now, I can never repay it. But, I won't stop helping others, will never falter where others grow impatient. I will do it, all for you, in your name. Darius...I...will miss you, dearly." Turning, putting back on his hat, the Elf walked away, leaving behind the grave of his first real friend. Looking straight ahead, head never looking down in sorrow, he wiped his eyes and made his way back to Alras. He would keep his word, his vow, and live the rest of his life to the fullest. If not for himself, for Darius. A Sad smile upon his face, and a swig from his own wine, he walked faster before breaking out into a run, caring not for the monsters that scattered the night. He felt that nothing would stop him as he disappeared beyond the Horizon.
