Ooc: Event Idea - The Great Blizzard

- The Great Blizzard -

Summary: A mighty snowstorm drifts from the Snowy Mountains to Branborough, engulfing it in snow and ice. The Salty Salmon is deemed useless, as the river is frozen. The Halflings are trapped in the Vale, fighting cold, hunger, and wolves for around 1-2 in-game weeks.

How it will work: The event team builders take our region, and coat it in a heavy layer of snow. We will have to temporarily remove the teleport from the docks to the Salty Salmon, as the river will be frozen. Maybe we can redirect it to an area of the ocean before it gets to the Snowy Mountains?

How it will be RP’d: At first, the Halflings will probably group together as the storm starts, as they find the storm unusual. Maybe one or two groups will gather at the Drunken Sheep? Or the Meeting Burrow? Whatever happens in RP. The rest will be decided by how the Halflings roleplay it. After maybe a day, or even half of one, the Halflings will start to get hungry. At this point, they will venture out of the groups to travel to the Storage Burrow. It is possible, if we have the help of the Event Team actors, that we will be attacked by wolves. The Halflings will have to band together to survive, putting a deadly use to their shovels and slingshots.

Your thoughts: Post these babies below, guys! Sorsby has already said this event could take place, but we would like everyone's opinions and thoughts.

This would be more appropriate in the Event Proposals forum. I recommend that you put it there, following the event proposal format. As for my opinion on the event, it has promise, but I'm not entirely sure. You should definitely expand more on it.

I'll be typing up the actual event proposal if the Halflings want this. That's why I put it here, to get their opinions. :)

This reminds me of the the "Fell Winter" within the lore of the Lord of the Rings. I mulled around with that idea for a little bit myself. I'd agree with Pops on the idea. I also think it would be fun if we contacted a few certified villains (Such as myself), to roleplay as the wolves. Sounds like a fun roleplay, I hope that we can find a a way for other players to take part even if they are not halflings.

Please don't do this without me :( I'll be back next Wednesday...

Hamin, don't worry. We'd have to prepare everything first, anyways. :)

Halflings starving and getting attacked by wolves in a snow storm? I Love the idea

There could also perhaps be a possibility of a few friendly snowmen coming to visit us, that may cause an awful kerfuffle, but this sounds fun. We should do this. :]

Holm actually did a similar event a couple days ago, we used it to have some fun and ended up using it to tear apart the inn and let some culture slip in here and there that Ive been developing. We actually had a LOT of fun with this, especially the little event team of me, Cethis, and SinlessPrim, spamming /setname and playing emotes.off each other to really bring the storm to life.

I highly, HIGHLY, encourage the halflings do this, especially if they get some fast typers to /setname and play out wind and snow and noises and the like. Its extremely fun and offers chances for AMAZING internal and environmental conflict I know you'll all love!

Also if you want, me and my emote spammers can hide out nearby and play out the storm for you, we love assisting with environmental roleplay, and if there is anything we can do to help make it more fun for you all, please just tell us. We're always eagar to assist!

That sounds splendid, Deco, if you have some people that are willing to do /setname to bring the storm to life (only if they want to come, I don't want to be responsible for carting people down here against their will :P) then they would be welcome. I'm thinking damage to crops, drinking the ale supplies dry, a good old sing song, conflict between halflings, story telling, the freezing of the Tookwater disturbing the monster, that sort of business.

That would be MARVELLOUS! If you guys would like, I'll make a Google Doc right now that everyone can join, and we can start writing up the actual event plan! :)
