Out-Of-Character

Main Minecraft Account Name: princetonlax21

Alternate Minecraft Account Name: smamuel

In your own words, define what the act of Roleplaying is: The act of roleplaying is entering the mind of a different person or character. It is stepping out of the moral boundaries of life, and taking on a different prospective. The role you take can be created by yourself, or assigned by a person/group. It is like acting in a couple ways, but there is no type of script to follow.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-gaming is the act of using OOC (Out-of-Characrer) information, learned from the person role-playing the character, in-game. Meta-gaming is highly frowned upon within the Lord of the Craft community. An example of meta-gaming is knowing how to read/write without learning it properly in game or having a background story in which you learned.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is: The act of Power-Emoting is when one does something that is simply unrealistic or doesn't give the other party a chance to react. It is more commonly known as power-gaming. An example of power-gaming could be... "Dezar turns around and slashes the mans head off, allowing his head to slowly roll to the floor." Dezar would not be giving the other person a chance to react or defend himself.

In-Character:

Character Name: Aelor

What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!): Elf.

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Dark Elf.

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Aelor lies down in between the crevices of two rooftops in the middle of Arethor. He is dreaming about a warm meal, and maybe some spiced wine. As he slowly starts to awaken in the pitiful notion of what people call life, Aelor remembers that he cannot afford a room in the inn. Aelor wakes up and curses himself; someone must have stolen his blanket in the middle of the night. Aelor tries to remember the basics of his life "My name is Aelor, I am sixteen years old, I am a dark elf, My hair is white, my eyes are -." Something snaps and Aelor is interrupted from his thoughts, he looks around to only see the comforting sight of his sister. "Hello, Sister."

Denna replies, shaking a bag of coins in her hand "Hello, brother. Look what the stupid orc left in the inn." Aelor smiles to himself, thinking of all the lessons his father gave him and his sister on stealing. "The pin has to be perfectly in place. Move with precision, or get out of my presence. Denna grins "I think we may be able to buy an extra blanket so I don't have to steal yours." Aelor cusses aloud "I should've known it was you."

~Aelor was born into the cruel city of Arethor. In addition to his other problems, he is a street urchin that trusts nobody but his sister. Aelor stands at a solid 5'11, short for most elves. His father, Dagon, taught them all there is to know about thieving and lock picking. One of his most prized possessions is the safe his father bought teach him how to lock pick. Aelor would often spend hours at the time fidgeting at the pin until the dial would work his way. After years of practice, locks started revealing their secrets to him. Aelor is a proud thief, and doesn't believe he is doing anything wrong by stealing. Although Aelor is selfish, he would never steal from a fellow street urchin. Aelor is a fairly intelligent fellow--his father would often spend much of his time trying to steal books to teach his kids how to read and write. Aelor knows how to read almost perfectly, but sometimes has trouble writing. ~

Aelor hears another sound, disturbing him and his sister’s good luck. Aelor looks around until he sees his sister pointing in the general direction of the main gate.

"You've gotta be kidding me." Denna curses "Not the damn knights and king again."

Aelor scowls as he sees the privileged men riding through the streets with their banners and precious armors, "I will kill them one day," Aelor speaks with spite.

~Aelor holds a hatred for those in higher social classes. He believes the fortunate don't deserve their fortunes, and blames them for his misgivings. ~

Aelor thinks back to the time when he was about ten and the knights were escorting the king into the keep.

The knights were screaming “Out of the way peasants! The king is coming through!”

A group of people gathered around just to get a glimpse of the king--Aelor being no exception. Aelor accidentally got too close to the king's carriage and a knight kicked him straight into the ribs with an armored boot. Aelor had four cracked ribs, and could only wait for the pain to decrease.

~ Aelor's hate for knights and the "privileged" stems from that childhood. He will not hesitate to assassinate any knight that he believes a threat. Aelor thinks that high officials do not care for the lower class, and he hopes somebody will eventually hire him for a killing once his guild raises to power. ~

Aelor was wandering one day around Arethor, begging and hoping to find someone to pick-pocket; eventually he saw someone who looked suitable for their needs. The man had left his gold sack hanging from his belt like a fruit ripe for the picking. Aelor and his sister decided to take the opportunity. Their quest led them to the sewers under Arethor, where screams and cries of terror echoed from the pipes. Sneaking behind the man, using the shadows to cover them, they followed him into the filthy depths. Eventually, the man stopped at a room and pulled out a set of keys--passing through a creaky gate after checking his surroundings. Aelor, being daring, got a little closer and peeked past the gate. He saw a man chained up on all limbs, being whipped and branded by his hulking assailant.

His torturers were screaming “Where is she you worthless piece of scum!?”

The man hissed and screamed before eventually giving in “S-s-she is i-in Healun’or, I sw-swear!”

Aelor quickly scurried away after throwing up. After a while he later considered it “A good way to get information if I ever need it.”

~Aelor figured out torturing is a efficient way to gain information. He only uses it under dire situations, but sometimes he has to resort to it.~

Aelor is snapped out of his thoughts by Denna “Lets go see what they’re up to this time?”

The young dark elf agrees as he climbs down to the street level and to look for their Pa. As they move out the front gates they see their dad--on the gallows. Aelor stands dumbly, not knowing what to think; Denna loses all self-control and runs up to the center of the gallows with her sword, attempting to cut at the guards. Denna is quickly shot down with four crossbow bolts, two to the head, and two to the heart. After watching all the carnage, a sense of numbness overwhelms Aelor as he helplessly watches his father's hanging.

“I declare, Dagon, son of unknown, sentenced to death for thievery and murder."

Aelor returns to his rooftop, not to set out for a long time again.

~Aelor changed after that day at the gallows. He became remarkably more violent and had issues with the other children his age. His peers started teasing him because of his dark elf heritage; the humans made fun of his skin color and pointy ears.

Aelor wanders around Arethor, remembering a specific incident when he drowned the kid that called him “blackey-boy” in the pool. He laughed as he drowned the boy, feeling the child's helplessness in his hands. Holding power over someone’s life has always interested him. Aelor was learning to harvest the power quite well. He was training with his hidden dagger and small ornate dagger that he stole from a merchant; he had daily experience in the black market fighting with the less nimble children. Aelor was collecting a decent bit of money from the things he has stolen and kids he has mugged. Aelor was not himself for a couple years, he lost everything, including his sanity.

Time has always been said to the be the greatest healing mechanism for both physically and mentally wounded people. As Aelor got older, he became to forget more and more about his father and sister. In the back of his mind, revenge is always burning.

What are your Character's ambitions?: Aelor's ambitions is to start or join a successful organized crime association. He wishes to take revenge on all "privileged" he comes across. Aelor also wishes to master the art of stealth and hidden blades.

Open-Response-Questions

(( Before I start, I would like to point out Aelor has a accepted VA for 1, 2a, and 2b. I have never played Aelor, and I wish to exclusively play him on the account "smamuel." You can find my accepted VA HERE.

Answer at least three out of five listed!

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?:

Aelor slowly sneaks up behind the halfling. He proceeds to slide out his hidden blade and attempt to cut the halflings purse open and steal his minas. Before Aelor can make his escape, one of the warriors yells " 'ey! He's getting 'way wit our minas!" Aelor looks around desperately, not wanting to take on two armed warriors straight on, Aelor drops a bag on the ground and runs. The warriors laugh "Har! Har! Not gettin' way' wit our minas!" Aelor smirks to himself, wondering how long it will take them to realize the bag held rocks in it. Aelor counts the minas and smiles "I'd guess around 250, not bad."

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?:

Aelor smiles warmly to the man "I was wandering where I can find the nearest book store around here, I've run into some free time." The merchant grins "Well, you could two miles over there, but I have nice copy of "Rhetoric and Logic" right here. Aelor looks at the man seriously, trying to hide the desperateness out of his eyes "H-how much, sir?" The merchant rubs his long oiled beard,” How about, 160 minas?" Aelor sighs with relief,” I think I can do that." Aelor proceeds to pay the man accordingly, counting the bundles of minas out of his purse.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Aelor opens the chest slowly, using careful and experienced fingers. Aelor smiles as he realizes the chest isn't locked. Aelor thinks to himself, "Who is stupid enough to leave this stuff hanging around, seems to good to be true." Aelor closes the chest and walks about twenty yards away, watching the hut carefully. After about an hour or so, a group of men walk into the home and disassemble the booby trap from the chest. Aelor thanks any god willing enough to listen and continues on his way.
