Death Of a Halfling

*Word travels around by the time it gets to you it has become two simple words Funeral tomorrow. As you approach the little clearing in the woods you notice many other halflings dressed in black. Aris steps from the shadow next to the grave. He turns to face the crowd and as the whispers die down he begins to speak

"I used to thing tha' te Vale was safe from almost anythin'. I knew we could deal with a few spiders, wolves 'eck orcs of we banded together! A few days ago Holdoc Meadowreed set out in search of te wolf den tha's been causin' problems as O' late. I knew it was foolish to let 'im go but a 'alflin' with such spunk is hard te stop. 'e came back a bloody mess, gashes all along 'is body his shovel torn to splinters. With the 'elp of a 'uman I took 'im to te monks, but by the time we 'ad got there 'e was already gone....Fellow Halflings, we shan't let this mans death be in vain! We will band together and kill every last one O' those mangey bastards so this'll fate will never befall another of our own 'gain!"

*The mood turns somber once more as Holdoc is given his rights. Flowers are tossed on the grave and the halflings share a moment of silence. After a while they return to their burrows and rain pours from the grey sky*

*watches the funeral from far then curses himself.*

"Damit! I should have stopped him! I was the one going to stop those wolves! How could I let him go!"

*Tightening his sheath that contains his short sword and also making sure his bow wont fall off his back, he runs in the woods cursing himself still muttering he will avenge Holdoc's death.*

"I can' believe te wolves 're still 'ere..."

She whispers to no one in particular.

Poppy looks down a frown forming on her lips.

Roxanne nods slowly in Mr. Overhill's direction.

"Aye ter tha'. Wit' Bili gone, we dun' 'ave a deputy..."

Her voice trails off. She tilts her head, seeing a halfling running into the woods through the corner of her eye, then looks back to the small group of halflings still hanging around. She shifts uncomfortably at the silcence, pouting. After about a minute, she dares to speak up.

"Ye know wha'...? Down wit' 'dose wolves! If 'dey've taken 'un life, we ought ter stop 'em befo'e 'dey can take mo'e. I' be 'de leas' we can do fer 'dis 'oldoc fellow..."

Roxanne falls silent and eyes the group, searching for a sign of support, or at the least, a response.
