Criminal code

- 1. Assault

1a. Verbal assault; any said person may say as they wish to a party. Any said person may not though take any part in any form verbal insult towards the crown. A fine of 100 minas will be fined to any said party should they partake in these actions.

1b. Physical assault; any said person who assaults another man in violent terms will receive physical punishment in return. A flogging of 10 will be dealt to the man as a reward for his actions. If the victim is of noble blood the person could face 100 floggings too the capital punishment.

- 2. Murder

2a. Royal Murder; any said person who murders that of a noble bloodline, face the capital punishment. This is one of the highest offenses and will not go lightly punished.

2b. Peasant Murder; any said person who murders a peasant suffers a flogging of 100 times, as well as banishment. Bloodshed is forbidden inside the walls of Solace.

2c. Accidental Murder; any said person who has committed a murder on accident, faces a fine that they must pay to the family of the person they have killed. If the person has no known family the person will be kept in temporary confinement.

- 3. Theft

3a. Pickpockets; any said person who tries to become a pickpocket, and commit crimes as one will be exposed to the same punishment as one. The hand they were caught stealing with will be removed from their body.

3b. Not paying Taxes; any said person who does not pay their taxes succums to a tax fine. Which is up to the treasurer on how much this fine is. Continuation of not paying will be awarded a removal of land.

3c. Crown Theft; Stealing merchandise from the crown is another law that is severely punished. For this you will be fined 500 minas or something in equal value. As well hand removal.

3b. Peasant Theft; Any said person stealing another peasants merchandise is succumed to the service they wish you to perform. You will give back their merchandise plus 5% value of it. Then you will perform a wish of theirs.

- 4. Weaponry

4a. Personal weaponry; any said person during any period of time, excluding guards, may only keep three items of weaponry within their housing per capita. Anyone exceeding this rule will have all weapons confiscated and a fine of 100 minas will be placed upon the person/s who broke this rule.

- 5. Defense

5a. Personal Defense; should any person be attacked they are entitled to defend themselves in any way necessary. The murder laws do not come into place when you are in self defense.

5b. Property Defense; Any said person has the right to defend their home in any means necessary. The murder rule still applies until it becomes Self Defense.

- 6. Trespassing

6a. Roof climbing; Any attempt to climb a roof is seen as an attempt at assassinating the crown, and will be dealt with as such. As well you will be fined 100 minas to the family who owns the building, the more roofs you jump on, the more you get fined.

6b. Breaking & entering; Any person breaking, and entering into another's house, without permission, is subject to a 100 mina fine. The occupants of the household the right to defend their house, with non measures, should trespassing occur.

6c. Sitting on the royal throne; Any who sit on the throne, not of royal descent shall be charged a fee of 100 minas. If the occupant does not leave the throne, after the first warning, it will be seen as an attempt to overthrow the crown, resulting in immediate banishment, if subject does not move he will receive maiming.

- 7. Treason

7a. Physical Treason; Any said person who commits this crime will be tortured at the discretion of the royalty. Maiming will be done to the person in the discretion of the royalty.

7b. Verbal Treason; Any said subject who speaks ill of the crown will have their tongues removed to prevent them from speaking ill lies. Fingers may or may not be removed as well.

- 8. Magic

8a. Clerical Magic; all forms of cleric magic are allowed, battle cleric magic not hower ever. To Salvians believe clerical magic is a gift from the creator.

8b. Clergy Signed Mages; Any said mage who is signed off by the Salvian Clergy or the Oren Clergy is granted the rank of peasant rather than criminal. They will still have to follow all of the laws but they will be granted legal entry into Salvus lands.

8c. Necromancy; the pinnacle of illegal magic within the walls of Salvus. Those who practice such a skill will have their hands removed, tongues cut out and eyes ripped from their sockets. Then after all that you will be left on some road to wither away.

- 9. Oaths

9a. Guard Oaths; Any said guard who breaks their oaths without first consulting with your commander will have you branded with the label of oath breaker. You shall hold that title until you be cleansed of your crimes in a bath of fire

9b. Noble Oaths; Nobles who commit oaths to the crown at eternal until death. Nothing may break these bonds except for the lord himself. Added to this when a noble has passed into the afterlife the land goes to the crown, which then on he picks the hier. It is of course customary to pick the eldest son.

9c. Miscellaneous Oaths; All other forms of oath between any parties must have a witness present for the Oath to be considered in a court case. If such is not present the lord will not look over the Oath should it be brought to his attention.

- 10. Heresy

10a. Heretic Acts; All heresy towards our creator means your death by fire. That is final.

These all seem ta' be in good order. Thank ya' fer writin' this Lancel, it was much needed. I am also apart o' tha' clergy so if any Cleric comes to ya', don't fret ta' send 'em ta' me.
