The Land

Past rocky mountains and caverns old,

will you find the land that is filled with gold,

not gold of rock, but gold of the field,

the gold that makes up the heartiest meals!

Past canyons deep and deserts dry,

will you find the bombs that are meant to fly,

not bomb of war, but bombs like flowers,

the bombs that explode in rains and showers!

Past many-a-path and valleys far,

will you find the land that we folk call ours,

the land that is green and filled with dales,

the land that has the most fantastic ale!

This land we sing of is the land called the Vale,

the land of peace, where the tales are not stale,

the land of the small-folk, the land of great things,

you've come to the land, the land of the Halflings!

Past roaring falls and oceans cold,

will you find the land that is filled with gold,

not gold of rock, but gold of the field,

the gold that makes up the heartiest meals!

Over hills and under the sky,

will you find the bombs that are meant to fly

not bombs of war, but bombs like flowers,

the bombs that explode in rains and showers!

In the land that is under twinkling star,

will you find the land that we folk call ours,

the land that is green and filled with dales,

the land that has the most fantastic ale!

So, I've looked through all the entires and I can safely say they are all superb. But only three can get a prize, and only one can win the VIP!

Without further ado, here are the winners and contributors.

Bili, in first place with "The Land"!

I chose this because it had such a good beat to it, which makes it very easy to make a song to. And it makes good sense and entertains the listener / reader. Well done Bili!

The Land

Second, Dat Kyn with his "Horrible Elves" tune!

I liked this piece, it had such a jolly rhythmn to it, that it made me like it quite a lot, well done Dat Kyn.

The following is something my character thought of- about how horrible elves are.

What do you do when you see a pointy ear?

Sharpen the axe, ready the spear!

What do you do when you see grey skin?

Slice it off, slice it to pieces thin!

What do you do when he arrogantly smiles?

Wipe his head over the tiles!

What do you do when he shoots you a look?

Hang him on a tree with a fishing hook!

What do you do when he brings you a flower?

Give him a beating, make him cower!

What do you do when he talks all fancy?

Make him do some legless dancin'!

What do you do when he's below the ground?

Dig him up and feed 'im to a hound!

Just for fun. :P

In third place, is Wizard, with his "Tale of Flames and Forge"

I chose this because it is very similar to Misty Mountains Cold, yet very unique and bold in it's own way. Well done to you Wizard.

I am no musical genius, but I wrote out some simple lyrics. They probably stink, but I like competitions, so here they are:

A Tale of Flames and Forge

Hear now the sounds as dragons soar!

The flames are lit,

The fires roar!

Dwarves of old shall rise once more!

Take your axe and take your sword,

Sharpen mind and sharpen fist,

Travel now to the Dragon’s hoard!

Gold and riches for reward.

[Chorus]

Tarry not one second more!

Today we ride to war! To war!

A tale of flames and forge.

From the west, ride fair men,

Bringing peace and bringing kiss,

Fruits and presents from their glen.

Full of cowardice once again.

All they seek is to appease the dead.

Making deals with the foul beast!

Raise your axe above your head!

Their heads are bloated, full of lead.

[Chorus]

Tarry not one second more!

Today we ride to war! To war!

A tale of flames and forge.

The dragon comes and steals our home!

A great disgrace is this to me.

Pillage and plight as they roam.

Written in the ancient tome.

Bearing such a heavy load,

Keep the fires of warmth below.

Traveling ever down the dark road,

We won’t be stopped or even slowed!

[Chorus]

Tarry not one second more!

Today we ride to war! To war!

A tale of flames and forge.

This is a song for when the Dwarves fought the dragons at I believe Kal'Dwain.

Commiserations to Kettlekorn who missed out in the top three, but well done as you had a good set of lyrics as well :)

Thank you for all the contributions.

Bili - PM 'Danny' regarding your VIP, he shall set you up. Remember to direct him to this post to clarify, plus you get a complementary soundtrack for your lyrics!

Dat Kyn - You will have a soundtrack made for your piece within the month

Wizard - You will also have a soundtrack made for your piece within the month

Great job to Kyn (your entry made me laugh! :D), Wizard (loved your piece), and Kettlecorm (I'm a Halfling, of course I loved it.)! And a big thank you to Volutional for hosting the contest, it's good to see them return. I hope everyone had fun making their songs, because I sure did!

Will you really carry out this competition? From personal experience, most competitions on LoTC go unfinished...

Of course I will, and if I don't, you can ban me Skippy.

-giggles-

Skippy, ready the ban hammer!

  We are the Humans

People say were cranky

 we find white roses beautiful.

Were proud to take on our name

and we all want to have great fame

We practice ever so hard,

To be the very best

we are the humans

we never rest!

Oooh We are the humans we

are great and strong

we will fight the mountains

Till we have won

oh we are the humans

we will stay proud

we believe we can reach top

to the highest cloud

From when we were young ones we

have been taught never to

give up and that's just how to are

We always try to go far

We will fight the strongest man

till we have won a new land

Oooh we are the humans

We are great and strong

We will fight the mountains

Till we have won

Oh we are the Humans

We will stay proud

We believe we can reach the top

Till we can reach the highest cloud.

Volutional, pls

Like I've said many times, making a soundtrack to words is difficult, and will demand a lot of time. A lot of time I don't have. If it was any old piece I could do it, but school, LoTC and OOC matters will have to come before this. Which will likely delay it as much as Diablo 3 was delayed. :p
