This is the death of Ereinion through the eyes of his wife, Arya Orchid.

I lifted my head, waking from yet another dreamless night. He was still there in our bed. His breathing was shallow and a bead of sweat on his forehead. I was still holding his hand, I squeezed it lightly. His eyes flickered open.

“O-Orchid?”, he asked in a raspy voice, his eyes flicker open, staring dazed at the ceiling.

“I’m here, my love.”, I responded, holding his hand tighter.

He looked over to me, a faint smile on his dark face. His heartbeat was becoming faster and the usually swirling red pools of lava in his eyes were dormant and the rings around his eyes became darker.

“I love you, my Orchid.”, he smiled, yet his eyes were sad.

“And I love you.”, I kissed his hand and his eyes closed.

I stayed by his bedside for days, I never left him.

His eyes never opened again, his hands became cold and his last breath had left him.

Alone.

Left in the darkness.

I miss you, my Hawke.
