Viper3X 1056 Share Posted December 20, 2012 Below is a quote of a post I made in the administration section of the forums. The primary reason as to why I am sharing this with you is so that you may make suggestions or provide ideas. You will be the ones using this plugin, so it'd be best if you all know how it will function and what you must be aware of. Recently, in the past month or so, the event pex group became broken and users within the group were unable to use /god, /vanish, /mobdiguise, or other similar commands. I requested for this to be fixed, but nothing has happened and the Event Team is getting restless. I have decided that, instead of fixing something that was going to be replaced come 3.0, we should simply go ahead and change it now. With that said, I propose to you the "/event" command. The purpose of this command is to replace the need of having to change an Event Team member's pex group every time they want or need to perform an event. Rather than making this a long, detailed post, I will shorten it into point form for easy access and reference. Keep in mind that this request is aimed towards Reag and/or Alec, and it should be on high priority so that we may finally begin performing events again for the temp server and 2.5. Event Team members will always remain in the "event" pex groupThey will not have access to any event-based commands until they toggle the "/event" commandThis command will give them access to /god, /vanish, /mobdisguise, /fly, and /emoteIf they toggle the "/event" command again, the four commands listed in the point above will be automatically disabledWhenever a team member toggles the "/event" command (whether on or off), it will send a small announcement to all GMs so that we are aware of their use of the commandWhen they toggle "/event" it will automatically toggle godmode and vanish ON or OFF, depending on the order it was used That is the most information I can think off of my head, but that is exactly how I would love for it to function. If you require further explanation, be sure to ask! A big thanks to the one that decides to accept this task! I appreciate the feedback!
ΚΨΙΞ 710 Share Posted December 20, 2012 I like the idea that the Mods will be shown an announcement when a user types /event. It makes sure it cannot be randomly abused however if there are no mods online a ET member could simply type /event without being noticed. Albeit that being said I like that idea. Jingeh 278 Share Posted December 20, 2012 Yes, simply yes. This is absolutely necessary, I am sick to death of having to rely on GM's to get the rank and then getting no response. This will most certainly fix the inactive problem we seem to be experiencing as of late. TL;DR: We don't get this, the event team is useless.
Volutional 935 Share Posted December 20, 2012 Without this, there is no event team.
Peter Chivay 2494 Share Posted December 20, 2012 TL;DR: We don't get this, the event team is useless. I second this notion. Without this, there is no event team. And this.
steelersfan1221 300 Share Posted December 20, 2012 I definitely agree with Vol and Jingeh on this. We can't really do much without any of the commands.
Guest Jhonen Share Posted December 20, 2012 A good post and I hope they get on it, thank you Viper and I hope to see this implemented so we can get busy!
Wretched 2075 Share Posted December 20, 2012 Aye. This is greatly needed. Would it be possible to change the colour of the usernames above our heads while we're in this rank? I know it's been done before for GMs. It'd just mean that players know when we are who we RP as, because when they see a random player roleplaying as some odd creation, they may start shooting around all sorts of accusations. And due to the ET not needing VAs and MAs for the event characters, it'd skip out that horrible bit of OOC "VA?" before every roleplay encounter. And that way, GMs that do spot somebody with this green nameplate can swoop down and question them as to why that is if no events are taking place. This, most certainly this, if implemented this is one thing that is also a necessity it helps people know who we are and draws attention to us so people know whom exactly we are. Megacomet 25 Share Posted December 20, 2012 I am all in agreement with the planned /event command, as we really cannot do much when we need a GM to give us our powers, and even less when it's gone outright. I will also second Benboboy's proposal, as it will only make things simpler for the actors, the players, and the GM's.
Stag 3231 Share Posted December 20, 2012 *The kitty raises a sign* "Event Command Now!" *proceeds to go march in front of every GM's house.* The only reason I have been busy is because of the dev server. It has been no easier to create and go through with an event (even mini-events) than it would be to try to do it with my hands tied behind my back. An Event team member had been out in a position of power much like a GM. There should be no less trust in a player who is appointed to either position. Especially when they are working as hard as they can even without the assistance of commands. This command would allow us to become less of a burden on GM's and more self-reliant. I know it's a long shot, but maybe have it so builder have access to creative? Let's face it, countless hours have been wasted waiting for someone to put a builder in creative so they can build something that takes 15 minutes in creative mode. Even if creative access wasn't available this command would surely boost the activity level of the acting team ten fold.
Lago 2572 Share Posted December 23, 2012 Might be worth having the format /event [reason], so you can put down why you're using it in the log of /event uses. Might prevent a few misunderstandings.
