Howdy guys - Danny here - and today I want to hear about what you think on our available 'Money Plugin' options, that we - the staff team - want to alter/add.

Firstly, is our money plugin. I personally want to remove Gringotts and return the simple iConomy system - it was easier to use, more efficient and less complex. The only upside to Gringotts is a physical currency, which isn't even something that we need.

Reference: Gringotts / iConomy

When/if we change systems, there is no money loss involved - we are able to switch to iConomy and transfer all money into it, without losing a single mina.

Please be aware, the majority vote on this does not mean that, that is the decision that we will go with. The staff with hold their own private vote to make the final decision, but shall also take the results of this poll into account.

Gonna be straight up, I have always preferred a bartering system, although it may not be period correct but it takes out the step of having to sell the goods to then buy the goods. I think that the minas system all together promotes a "Play to Win" mentality.

iConomy doesn't make RP sense, as you can't store money in chests, it can never get stolen, you can carry ridiculous amounts on you, and it's not dropped upon death. I just don't think it makes enough sense RPly and thieves can't really rob banks for money, only items if they're lucky enough to find some.

I'd like for the nations to come up with their own currency.

I'd love to see a system in Oren, for example, where books are used as paper money with the signature of the treasurer/Emperor to confirm authenticity. This paper money would have backing in diamonds/iron, preferably. Malinor/Dwarves could probably do something similar, and the orcs would probably just... Barter, or something, the barbarians that they are :P

I think it would be great. It would allow the nations to have their own cultural elements in regards to money, would add a whole RP process for money, and would provide more RP in general.

Gringotts had a non-physical currency as well, which is the side of it most people use.

Slightly on topic; I'd like to see mina drops from mobs return also.

With Gringotts the money had to be in a vault somewhere. It could be transferred without physically throwing over many stacks of emeralds, but it still required phyiscal space to store.

Hrm, well what I personally would like to see is an item based currency, but if that's not going to happen, is there a way to let iConomy be put into chests or something? I believe that that would make it much more realistic and RP.

Have to disagree with you here. I believe that that would ruin the economy, as it did in asulon. But I'm not going any further than this, as this isn't the topic for it.

I would personally like to see the entirety of the IConomy plugin return, however with one tweak.

The money loss of I believe 1/5th when you died, could we code this so it dropped a map with that one fifth attached and when you pick it up and right click it it goes into your money.

It would give thieves something to work off of a dead body when they murder you and prevent people going "I ONLY HAVE ONE MINA!"

Certainly would also allow you to go and recollect your lost booty if you were to die through mobs etc....

Just to elaborate on this post and give an example...

Scipp3r or someone would make in-game books that could be read; the book would contain something such as "100 Oren Currency" or "20 Oren Currency", or maybe even "5 Oren Currency.", as well as Patrick Denims's signature on the book (Written by Scipp3r), authenticating it to prevent counterfeit. It would be called something other then 'Oren Currency', that's just an example...

Exchange rates would be set up for the currency. For example, 1 Oren Currency might equal 1/20th of a diamond and 1/5 of iron, or something.

What I like about my idea, as I said, is it makes RP sense and would allow for money to be effectively stored and stolen realistically. People would carry around their books/resources that -could- be stolen, adding a dangerous element.

Other races would set up similar systems based on what they want to do.

I normally just trade for things but this depends on what our future "Skill system" will be. If we have one people will need to trade for much more and I still like the idea of physical money..

It's not dropped upon death.

That's because the monks like taking a little bit of pay...

Personally, I've always disliked iConomy and would prefer that Gringotts be left. I've just never liked the fact that iConomy isn't physical currency, there is no player reliability. At least with Gringotts, those who have lots of money must ensure that they keep it in a safe place. Gringotts also enables role-play for banks more so than iConomy as it's not usually all that necessary in iConomy considering most carry around all their money.
