House Elowén

The Founding

In Aegis of year 783, there was an Elf birthed of the name Héulwen. He was born to an unknown High Elf father who bedded his mother Amarwen Lowén a wood elf and then left. Héulwen was raised by his mother until the age of 33 when he was told to make something of his life. Héulwen lost in his ways traveled to Oren in search of work. In Oren, Héulwen found work as a Lumberjack and made a small profit over the next 18 years. Héulwen became more and more distant from his mother and Malinor and she eventually asked him to leave his job. Héulwen after the course of the next few months made a large enough profit to buy his own larger home in Malinor near his mother’s. Héulwen found work as an apprentice to a philosopher and scholar where he earned a higher education than that of what his mother could offer him. At the age of 120 Héulwen found love with a common elf by the name of Nionnel who had recently turned 109. Héulwen courted her over the next seven years and she finally agreed to marry him. After ten years of marriage they decided to have a child, but unfortunately Nionnel could not hold the child and it died after two months. Héulwen and Nionnel went throught despair, but soon after Héulwen accepted it and went on to better things in his life. At the age of 131 Héulwen became a Prince of Malinor, and was rejoiced by all. After being a Prince for 43 years, Héulwen was now 174 and they decided to have another child. Nionnel birthed a male child nearly ten months later and they named him Alrathil. 22 happy years later, Nionnel birthed another male child by the name of Arandir. A month after Arandir’s 14th birthday he was brutally murdered by an Assassin, and once again the Lowén family fell into despair. After Malinor would do nothing to go after the Assassin Héulwen resigned from his position as Prince and announced that he would be leaving Malinor. Héulwen changed his surname to Elowén and fled to an island outside of Oren. Héulwen constructed his family manor and deemed himself to be Elowén nobility due to his past. After about 20 years the couple bore another child in which they named Amarwen in honor of Héulwen’s dead mother.

Economic Alliance with Oren

Héulwen soon established relations with the nearby Oren and developed his own personal army in which he would come to aid Oren with. These soldiers were later named Bannerman and held the flag of House Elowén. When Oren began war with the Orcs, House Elowén fought alongside their human allies. Toward the end of the war House Elowén’s forces collapsed and had to retreat and leave Oren open. Oren eventually lost the Orc – Human war and House Elowén fell into an Economic Alliance to prevent from further destruction of the House. The Alliance eventually ended at year 1332 and nothing has been said in Oren of House Elowén since.

The current head of the House is Lady Amarwen Elowén due to the rest of he family perishing during the travel to Asulon and throughout Asulon. Her heir is Elrohir Elowén, and he is proper claimant to the Lord of House and Amarwen shall abide to this. Elrohir Elowén is also subject to her Manor.

Other Notes: Amarwen is played by Rexx8. This is not meant to be discussed in roleplay throughout the forum, it merely is discussing roleplay. The document is owned by me in character, and Rexx8's character own a copy labled 'A Copy of The Original' at the bottom and has no power what so ever,

Culture & Traditions

The Elowén House’s Culture is deprived Human and Elven Traditions; more
specifically Old Oren’s traditions. The Culture consists of wearing Elven
clothing, practicing Elven dining, and an Elven level of education or
above.  Their architecture consists of Human designs and models, but with an Elven touch. Most of the Elven practices end there, with the Oren traditions taking over. They don’t consider themselves
to be an adult until their training and educations are finished, but with the minimum of 17, and possibly 16. They practice Old Oren and New Oren government of one true leader and several branches off of that. They speak more of an Old Oren human accent, and all in all act more human. They also have a strong belief that homosexuality is terrible and if any member of their family or one of their workers is found to be a homosexual then the family will feel provoked to kill them.

Housing

The Head of the House belongs to one very large manor where only his servants and primary family live (Including: Offspring, Parents, and any siblings he or she chooses, as well as any close friends or relatives he wishes.) The rest of the House lives in smaller homes surrounding the Manor or throughout the owned land of the House. The Head Manor is also used for Meetings and any other gatherings including parties.
