House McHaryn Rams

Rams_zps0d8f9f53.png

"Ashes to ashes dawn till dusk, forever we'll fight with a kick and a buck"

House McHaryn is enlisting men and women of any cultural back ground to join the elite order of bannermen known as the Rams. Members of this order will be tested for combat in arms (both PVP and RP), skill in eloquence of speech, and moral values. If ye have any wishes to join this company of honour simply write to Lord Starke McHaryn ((Minea))or apply at the bottem of this poster with the format listed enquiring of your desire, you'll then receive a notice of invitation to be tested on the categories of combat, moral values and the ability to speak and be heard. Know this though, the Rams do not accept anyone, even if it means that only two or three members will fill the ranks of the Rams, quality before quantity on this note. Perhaps there will be no takers to fill the ranks of the Rams, but if ye pass the tests ye will be enlisted and receive the loyalty of the McHaryn lords.

Job: To protect the McHaryn family as well as the houses they are pledged too. This may involve giving ones life, we need loyalty above everything else.

Time Commitment: At this time the McHaryns (due to unforseen circumstances) are landless, this simply means that the Rams will have more time to themselves, your company on trips will be expected but your time is your own when the McHaryn's or their greater house does not have need of your skill.

Pledge: Ye must pledge yourselves to always and unconditionally remain loyal to the McHaryns, grants of leave will be accepted as the saying goes once a Ram always a Ram, if ye are needed for something else such as duty to your family you may enquire of a McHaryn lord to be temporarily released from your oath of honour.  We do not ask you to pledge a certain oath, you must do that, tell us in the way you will of your oath of allegiance. Oaths forced by masters are easily broken, oaths given freely are of a more sturdy nature.

Rules:

-A Ram respects one and all, peasants to royalty we show them respect.

-A Ram does not shame him/herself with vulgar language, they should have the skill to express themselves without meaningless cussing.

-A Ram has the utmost loyalty to their companions and liegelord

Uniform:

Ranks:

Ram Commander: Obviously the leader of the company of Ram's, this position is held when great loyalty is shown. The Ram commander is trusted completely by the McHaryn lords, his or her word is honoured and contemplated when given. This person usually has leadership that allows them to easily command the other Rams. Eloquence of speech is required.

Ram Phalanx: Base unit of the Ram company, passed first and final tests in recruitment stage, trusted by the McHaryn lords to an extent. Their loyalty should be unsurpassed when it comes to the orders of ranks above them. Combat in theory as well as practical is required for this position, eloquence of speech (to a degree) is also required.

House History:

The McHaryn House

Origin:

The Adunian house McHaryn can be traced back as far as the time of Elendil the
exiled, in the age where the forces of Godwinson were a dire threat. The first
known McHaryn was a large man by the name of Konagan McHaryn, famous for his
fiery red hair and bear like strength, it is believed that Konagan McHaryn
sailed on the Adunian ship known as salvation. Konagan wed an Adunian woman by
the name of Lunaria, and so the McHaryn clan came to existence.

Other Adunian families followed Konagan as he was a capable leader, Konagan
himself followed Elendil the exiled to the great forest where an Adunian town
was created.

Time passed and like all things of the earth Konagan went down to the grave.

His great grandson known as Doogle McHaryn made the decision to lead the
McHaryn clan back to the original home of the Adunians, following the Adunian
lord Bethrol Elendil. Once back on the original continent and finding old
Adunian lands in possession of the kingdom of Oren, Doogle led his clan to the
northern mountainous terrain where they set up a small village and began to
prosper.

Time passed, McHaryn chieftains died and their eldest sons took over, by the
time of Rydel Elendil the Adunian lord, Clarke McHaryn was chieftain of the now
300 strong McHaryn clan. At this time civil war broke out in the Adunian
kingdom and Rydels steward Icarian led the uprising, Lord Rydel called all the
Adunian clans to arms, and like the loyal subjects they were the McHaryn clan
answered the call. So Clarke McHaryn led a force of 120 McHaryn clansmen to
fight in defense of the rightful Adunian lord.

The battle raged on and the McHaryn clan suffered heavy losses in the defence
of their kingdom. By the time the war burned to an end only a score of McHaryn
clansmen had survived. With heavy hearts at the loss of their brethren they
made their way back to the McHaryn settlement, however disaster struck again
when upon arriving at the settlement the clansmen discovered that in their
absence roving deserters of Icarian’s army had taken refuge in the mountainous
terrain, having discovered the small settlement and finding it without warriors
they decided to take advantage, and so it was because of this that the
surviving McHaryn clansmen found their village in ruins with the dead
disrespected and left for the carrion.

In a surge of anger and not heeding their chieftains pleas, many of the McHaryn
warriors swore vengeance and spent the remainder of their lives hunting the
deserters. After the oath of vengeance only  a handful of McHaryns remained in the ruins of
their village, Clarke and his close kin. However there was a small glimpse of
hope in the darkness, a few weeks later while trying to rebuild a small hut for
shelter a small group of people could be seen making their way up from a neigh
boring valley. The people were later realised to be survivors of the attack and
kin to the survivors, amongst their number were 9  infants (one being Richard, Chief Clarke’s
son) and several mothers and a wet nurse who had taken the children on an
outing when tragedy struck.

Time went on, the survivors passed on and the children grew,of these children  Richard took Desmond (another survivor) to wife and raised his own family,

Konagan the second (the son of the chief) and Delina (the daughter of Derik)
married and had two children, Starkë and Jock McHaryn. Who later united the
remaining McHaryns and pledged their allegiance to Lord Torrhen Elendil who in
response granted them land and titles in the barony of the Skirling Highlands
north of Winterhall.

However as all things time went on and with the migration to Anthos the

power of the McHaryns in land and titles waned, to this day the McHaryns remain
without land , a former shadow of their previous power.

House Colours:

 Blue, Grey and White

House Traditions:

-All who have McHaryn blood whether scholar or warrior must

be in possession of a carbarum blade, this signifies the importance of protecting ones fold and honouring the call to arms from greater houses or

liegelords.

-A McHaryn who breaks his or her word is considered broken

and as such all ties to the McHaryn house are cut, as the motto goes, honour
above all.

-The current leader of the McHaryn house must carry a great

sword of carbarum.

-Guests of any culture or background are treated with

respect and honour, trickery or false pretences committed in the presence or
relating to the welfare of guests are punishable by death.

House Motto:

 Honour above all.

If ye think ye have what it takes then write to Lord McHaryn for a test of trial by combat.

((OOC INFO:))

((The McHaryn's live in the Pacific timezone (GMT +10), therefore to be completely fair it'd be best if you were from Australia or New Zealand, we have NO QUALMS if you're a euro or an American, but to have the most interaction with us it'd be good to be in the same timezone.

To all dem haters, we obviously realise that we can't be "the most epicest order/guild/group ever" and we know that you can't make a guild/band and automatically assume that "its the best and ONLY the best can join", however we do have plans to create that reputation in game, currently we are obviously unknown, but we plan to make a name for ourselves as being an exclusive group that only accepts proper roleplayers and PVP'ers that will do us proud. I constantly see guilds recruiting anyone and everyone who pledges their oath, theres nothing wrong with this we just want to do things a little differently.

Also currently we are unlanded, the McHaryns did once possess a barony but well thats changed presently, so in game we'll be hanging around and roleplaying together, the Rams and the McHaryns, just running around having some fun, feel free to add me on skype as Halt.Longblade.

Like I said in thread we don't care if only one person shows up and passes if they meet the requirements they'll be a Ram. Also feel free to ask any questions in game or over PM's.

Thanks a lot guys will update thread with members later.))

((Im assuming Bael isn't the right kind of char to join? Otherwise I would have said ust join up as Bael.))

((Just to inform you, you're not a noble house. You have no claims to land, and you're an Adunian clan, which are looked down upon right now in terms of being noble...))

((Thankyou for the comment siree, next time I would appreciate it if you sent me a PM instead of cluttering this thing with OOC, now i'm writing this here so others can see as well. We WERE a noble house, and you're right after the rebellion etc etc move to Anthos etc etc we kind of became less, but in game we've been pledged to King James, and he's accepted our pledge. Once again to be clear you do not have to have land to be a nobleman, BUT it does help you have influence and strengthen your claim. Not once have I pretended that House McHaryn is a big boss house with massive influence, I made it perfectly clear we are unlanded. Now EVERYONE please keep the OOC posting on this thread down low, I only posted this so others could see the answer to Mr Merriest Moogle (I apologise if your a female, i've made the assumption your male, I really am sorry if I made the wrong assumption))

*Starke McHaryn looks over the application, nodding to himself and satisfied with the oath of loyalty he sends a reply back.

"Hail Lock Thorton,

Your oath of loyalty is satisfying but there is still the task of being tested, contact me for a suitable time for you to be tested in eloquence of speech and skill of arms. I pray that your skills are an adept enough level to allow inclusion into the rams.

Signed: Stark McHaryn
