A plant like this would be a very strong symbol of fire in alchemy (I think you can guess why), and it would be pretty hard acquire, because too young, it wont be strong enough, and too old, it will erupt in flames and turn to ashes before it is of any use. As for it burning for a few hours... This could entitle other uses. A substitute for alchemist's fire (like Joker's scum), perhaps, or maybe even for religious festivals, or just normal festivals, in general. When the flower ignites, the party is started to symbolize the beginning of new life, and when its ashes are spread and the flame has died, the festivities halt, symbolizing the rebirth of all life.
